Abstract: Shirvan is located in plain in Northern Khorasan province north east of Iran and has semiarid to temperate climate. To investigate the annual changes in some qualitative parameters such as electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and chloride concentrations which have increased during ten continuous years. Fourteen groundwater sources including deep as well as semi-deep wells were sampled and were analyzed using standard methods. The trends of obtained data were analyzed during these years and the effects of different factors on the changes in electrical conductivity, concentration of chloride and total dissolved solids were clarified. The results showed that the amounts of some qualitative parameters have been increased during 10 years time which has led to decrease in water quality. The results also showed that increased in urban populations as well as extensive industrialization in the studied area are the most important reasons to influence underground water quality. Furthermore decrease in water quantity is also evident due to more water utilization and occurrence of recent droughts in the region during recent years.
Abstract: Hazard rate estimation is one of the important topics
in forecasting earthquake occurrence. Forecasting earthquake
occurrence is a part of the statistical seismology where the main
subject is the point process. Generally, earthquake hazard rate is
estimated based on the point process likelihood equation called the
Hazard Rate Likelihood of Point Process (HRLPP). In this research,
we have developed estimation method, that is hazard rate single
decrement HRSD. This method was adapted from estimation method
in actuarial studies. Here, one individual associated with an
earthquake with inter event time is exponentially distributed. The
information of epicenter and time of earthquake occurrence are used
to estimate hazard rate. At the end, a case study of earthquake hazard
rate will be given. Furthermore, we compare the hazard rate between
HRLPP and HRSD method.
Abstract: The network of delivering commodities has been an important design problem in our daily lives and many transportation applications. The delivery performance is evaluated based on the system reliability of delivering commodities from a source node to a sink node in the network. The system reliability is thus maximized to find the optimal routing. However, the design problem is not simple because (1) each path segment has randomly distributed attributes; (2) there are multiple commodities that consume various path capacities; (3) the optimal routing must successfully complete the delivery process within the allowable time constraints. In this paper, we want to focus on the design optimization of the Multi-State Flow Network (MSFN) for multiple commodities. We propose an efficient approach to evaluate the system reliability in the MSFN with respect to randomly distributed path attributes and find the optimal routing subject to the allowable time constraints. The delivery rates, also known as delivery currents, of the path segments are evaluated and the minimal-current arcs are eliminated to reduce the complexity of the MSFN. Accordingly, the correct optimal routing is found and the worst-case reliability is evaluated. It has been shown that the reliability of the optimal routing is at least higher than worst-case measure. Two benchmark examples are utilized to demonstrate the proposed method. The comparisons between the original and the reduced networks show that the proposed method is very efficient.
Abstract: This paper discusses an artificial mind model and its
applications. The mind model is based on some theories which assert
that emotion is an important function in human decision making. An
artificial mind model with emotion is built, and the model is applied to
action selection of autonomous agents. In three examples, the agents
interact with humans and their environments. The examples show the
proposed model effectively work in both virtual agents and real robots.
Abstract: Home is important for Chinese people. Because the
information regarding the house attributes and surrounding
environments is incomplete in most real estate agency, most house
buyers are difficult to consider the overall factors effectively and only
can search candidates by sorting-based approach. This study aims to
develop a decision support system for housing purchasing, in which
surrounding facilities of each house are quantified. Then, all
considered house factors and customer preferences are incorporated
into Simple Multi-Attribute Ranking Technique (SMART) to support
the housing evaluation. To evaluate the validity of proposed approach,
an empirical study was conducted from a real estate agency. Based on
the customer requirement and preferences, the proposed approach can
identify better candidate house with consider the overall house
attributes and surrounding facilities.
Abstract: The prediction of transmembrane helical segments
(TMHs) in membrane proteins is an important field in the
bioinformatics research. In this paper, a method based on discrete
wavelet transform (DWT) has been developed to predict the number
and location of TMHs in membrane proteins. PDB coded as 1F88 was
chosen as an example to describe the prediction of the number and
location of TMHs in membrane proteins by using this method. One
group of test data sets that contain total 19 protein sequences was
utilized to access the effect of this method. Compared with the
prediction results of DAS, PRED-TMR2, SOSUI, HMMTOP2.0 and
TMHMM2.0, the obtained results indicate that the presented method
has higher prediction accuracy.

In this paper the distributed learning classifier system is used for designing a simulated control system for robot to perform complex behaviors. A set of enhanced approaches that support default hierarchies formation is suggested and compared with each other in order to make the simulated robot more effective in mapping the input to the correct output behavior.
Abstract: Along with increasing development of generation of supersonic planes especially fighters and request for increasing the performance and maneuverability scientists and engineers suggested the delta and double delta wing design. One of the areas which was necessary to be researched, was the Aerodynamic review of this type of wings in high angles of attack at low speeds that was very important in landing and takeoff the planes and maneuvers. Leading Edges of the wings, cause the separation flow from wing surface and then formation of powerful vortex with high rotational speed which studing the mechanism and location of formation and also the position of the vortex breakdown in high angles of attack is very important. In this research, a double delta wing with 76o/45o sweep angles at high angle of attack in steady state and incompressible flow were numerically analyzed with Fluent software. With analaysis of the numerical results, we arrived the most important characteristic of the double delta wings which is keeping of lift at high angles of attacks.
Abstract: Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a form of voice
communication that uses audio data to transmit voice signals to the
end user. VoIP is one of the most important technologies in the
World of communication. Around, 20 years of research on VoIP,
some problems of VoIP are still remaining. During the past decade
and with growing of wireless technologies, we have seen that many
papers turn their concentration from Wired-LAN to Wireless-LAN.
VoIP over Wireless LAN (WLAN) faces many challenges due to the
loose nature of wireless network. Issues like providing Quality of
Service (QoS) at a good level, dedicating capacity for calls and
having secure calls is more difficult rather than wired LAN.
Therefore VoIP over WLAN (VoWLAN) remains a challenging
research topic. In this paper we consolidate and address major
VoWLAN issues. This research is helpful for those researchers wants
to do research in Voice over IP technology over WLAN network.
Abstract: Traffic incident has bad effect on all parts of society
so controlling road networks with enough traffic devices could help
to decrease number of accidents, so using the best method for
optimum site selection of these devices could help to implement good
monitoring system. This paper has considered here important criteria
for optimum site selection of traffic camera based on aggregation
methods such as Bagging and Dempster-Shafer concepts. In the first
step, important criteria such as annual traffic flow, distance from
critical places such as parks that need more traffic controlling were
identified for selection of important road links for traffic camera
installation, Then classification methods such as Artificial neural
network and Decision tree algorithms were employed for
classification of road links based on their importance for camera
installation. Then for improving the result of classifiers aggregation
methods such as Bagging and Dempster-Shafer theories were used.
Abstract: Word sense disambiguation is one of the most important open problems in natural language processing applications such as information retrieval and machine translation. Many approach strategies can be employed to resolve word ambiguity with a reasonable degree of accuracy. These strategies are: knowledgebased, corpus-based, and hybrid-based. This paper pays attention to the corpus-based strategy that employs an unsupervised learning method for disambiguation. We report our investigation of Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI), an information retrieval technique and unsupervised learning, to the task of Thai noun and verbal word sense disambiguation. The Latent Semantic Indexing has been shown to be efficient and effective for Information Retrieval. For the purposes of this research, we report experiments on two Thai polysemous words, namely /hua4/ and /kep1/ that are used as a representative of Thai nouns and verbs respectively. The results of these experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and indicate the potential of applying vector-based distributional information measures to semantic disambiguation.

Abstract: This research is to explore the satisfaction for senior
citizens on continuing education in Taiwan. The purpose of this
research aims at the difference on teacher-s teaching, personal
relationship, learning result, materials and environment. Through
different sexual and living area as the background variables, a
questionnaire is adopted as the methodology in this research. Three
results are found in this research. In overall, senior citizens taking
continuing education put the most important attention on personal
relationship but materials and leaning environment put the least. There
is a significant difference on personal relationship, teacher-s teaching
and research result between different sexes. Female senior citizens
attach more importance to teacher-s teaching and learning results but
male senior citizens value on personal relationship. Another
significant difference is shown on teacher-s teaching and personal
relationship because of senior citizens living area. Urban senior
citizens put importance on personal relationship and rural senior
citizens respect teacher-s teaching more.
Abstract: Source code retrieval is of immense importance in the software engineering field. The complex tasks of retrieving and extracting information from source code documents is vital in the development cycle of the large software systems. The two main subtasks which result from these activities are code duplication prevention and plagiarism detection. In this paper, we propose a Mohamed Amine Ouddan, and Hassane Essafi source code retrieval system based on two-level fingerprint representation, respectively the structural and the semantic information within a source code. A sequence alignment technique is applied on these fingerprints in order to quantify the similarity between source code portions. The specific purpose of the system is to detect plagiarism and duplicated code between programs written in different programming languages belonging to the same class, such as C, Cµ, Java and CSharp. These four languages are supported by the actual version of the system which is designed such that it may be easily adapted for any programming language.
Abstract: Early detection of breast cancer is considered as a
major public health issue. Breast cancer screening is not generalized
to the entire population due to a lack of resources, staff and
appropriate tools. Systematic screening can result in a volume of data
which can not be managed by present computer architecture, either in
terms of storage capabilities or in terms of exploitation tools. We
propose in this paper to design and develop a data warehouse system
in radiology-senology (DWRS). The aim of such a system is on one
hand, to support this important volume of information providing from
multiple sources of data and images and for the other hand, to help
assist breast cancer screening in diagnosis, education and research.
Abstract: Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is widely used
in telecommunications systems to send data, video and voice at a
very high speed. In ATM network optimizing the bandwidth through
dynamic routing is an important consideration. Previous research
work shows that traditional optimization heuristics result in suboptimal
solution. In this paper we have explored non-traditional
optimization technique. We propose comparison of two such
algorithms - Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Tabu search (TS), based on
non-traditional Optimization approach, for solving the dynamic
routing problem in ATM networks which in return will optimize the
bandwidth. The optimized bandwidth could mean that some
attractive business applications would become feasible such as high
speed LAN interconnection, teleconferencing etc. We have also
performed a comparative study of the selection mechanisms in GA
and listed the best selection mechanism and a new initialization
technique which improves the efficiency of the GA.
Abstract: There is a world-wide need for the development of sustainable management strategies to control pest infestation and the development of phosphine (PH3) resistance in lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica). Computer simulation models can provide a relatively fast, safe and inexpensive way to weigh the merits of various management options. However, the usefulness of simulation models relies on the accurate estimation of important model parameters, such as mortality. Concentration and time of exposure are both important in determining mortality in response to a toxic agent. Recent research indicated the existence of two resistance phenotypes in R. dominica in Australia, weak and strong, and revealed that the presence of resistance alleles at two loci confers strong resistance, thus motivating the construction of a two-locus model of resistance. Experimental data sets on purified pest strains, each corresponding to a single genotype of our two-locus model, were also available. Hence it became possible to explicitly include mortalities of the different genotypes in the model. In this paper we described how we used two generalized linear models (GLM), probit and logistic models, to fit the available experimental data sets. We used a direct algebraic approach generalized inverse matrix technique, rather than the traditional maximum likelihood estimation, to estimate the model parameters. The results show that both probit and logistic models fit the data sets well but the former is much better in terms of small least squares (numerical) errors. Meanwhile, the generalized inverse matrix technique achieved similar accuracy results to those from the maximum likelihood estimation, but is less time consuming and computationally demanding.
Abstract: Sowing date and density are two important factors in
produce of coriander. A field experiment was conducted with
treatments: sowing time (5 May, 20 May, 4 June and 19 June 2009)
and plant density (10, 30, 50 and 70 plants m-2). The experimental
plots were laid out in a factorial according to a RCBD with three
replications. Results showed that the effect of sowing dates and
densities were significant on grain yield and yield components, but
interaction effects between sowing time and density were non
significant for all of traits in this trial. At sowing times 5 May, 20
May, 4 June and 19 June, grain yield obtained 736.9, 837.8, 1003.1
and 1299.6 kg ha-1, respectively. At 10, 30, 50 and 70 plants m-2,
grain yield were 794.9, 1031.0, 1092.3 and 959.3 kg ha-1,
respectively. In this experiment, sowing at 19 June and 50 and 30
plants m-2 had the most grain yield.
Abstract: Tritium activity concentration in Danube river water
in Serbia has been determinate using a liquid scintillation counter
Quantulus 1220. During December 2010, water samples were taken
along the entire course of Danube through Serbia, from Hungarian-
Serbian to Romanian-Serbian border. This investigation is very
important because of the nearness of nuclear reactor Paks in
Hungary. Sample preparation was performed by standard test method
using Optiphase HiSafe 3 scintillation cocktail. We used a rapid
method for the preparation of environmental samples, without
electrolytic enrichment.
