Abstract: Recently research on human wayfinding has focused
mainly on mental representations rather than processes of
wayfinding. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the
rationality behind applying multi-agent simulation paradigm to the
modeling of rescuer team wayfinding in order to develop
computational theory of perceptual wayfinding in crisis situations
using image schemata and affordances, which explains how people
find a specific destination in an unfamiliar building such as a
hospital. The hypothesis of this paper is that successful navigation is
possible if the agents are able to make the correct decision through
well-defined cues in critical cases, so the design of the building
signage is evaluated through the multi-agent-based simulation. In
addition, a special case of wayfinding in a building, finding one-s
way through three hospitals, is used to demonstrate the model.
Thereby, total rescue time for rescue operation during building fire is
computed. This paper discuses the computed rescue time for various
signage localization and provides experimental result for
optimization of building signage design. Therefore the most
appropriate signage design resulted in the shortest total rescue time in
various situations.
Abstract: Traffic incident has bad effect on all parts of society
so controlling road networks with enough traffic devices could help
to decrease number of accidents, so using the best method for
optimum site selection of these devices could help to implement good
monitoring system. This paper has considered here important criteria
for optimum site selection of traffic camera based on aggregation
methods such as Bagging and Dempster-Shafer concepts. In the first
step, important criteria such as annual traffic flow, distance from
critical places such as parks that need more traffic controlling were
identified for selection of important road links for traffic camera
installation, Then classification methods such as Artificial neural
network and Decision tree algorithms were employed for
classification of road links based on their importance for camera
installation. Then for improving the result of classifiers aggregation
methods such as Bagging and Dempster-Shafer theories were used.
Abstract: This study investigates the capacity of granular
activated carbon (GAC) for the storage of methane through the
equilibrium adsorption. An experimental apparatus consist of a dual
adsorption vessel was set up for the measurement of equilibrium
adsorption of methane on GAC using volumetric technique (pressure
decay). Experimental isotherms of methane adsorption were
determined by the measurement of equilibrium uptake of methane in
different pressures (0-50 bar) and temperatures (285.15-328.15°K).
The experimental data was fitted to Freundlich and Langmuir
equations to determine the model isotherm. The results show that the
experimental data is equally well fitted by the both model isotherms.
Using the experimental data obtained in different temperatures the
isosteric heat of methane adsorption was also calculated by the
Clausius-Clapeyron equation from the Sips isotherm model. Results
of isosteric heat of adsorption show that decreasing temperature or
increasing methane uptake by GAC decrease the isosteric heat of
methane adsorption.
