Abstract: This paper presents positive and negative full-wave
rectifier. The proposed structure is based on OTA using
commercially available ICs (LT1228). The features of the proposed
circuit are that: it can rectify and amplify voltage signal with
controllable output magnitude via input bias current: the output
voltage is free from temperature variation. The circuit description
merely consists of 1 single ended and 3 fully differential OTAs. The
performance of the proposed circuit are investigated though PSpice.
They show that the proposed circuit can function as positive/negative
full-wave rectifier, where the voltage input wide-dynamic range from
-5V to 5V. Furthermore, the output voltage is slightly dependent on
the temperature variations.
Abstract: Smith Predictor control is theoretically a good solution to the problem of controlling the time delay systems. However, it seldom gets use because it is almost impossible to find out a precise mathematical model of the practical system and very sensitive to uncertain system with variable time-delay. In this paper is concerned with a design method of smith predictor for temperature control system by Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM). The simulation results show that the control system with smith predictor design by CDM is stable and robust whilst giving the desired time domain system performance.
Abstract: This paper presents a wrap-around view system with 4
smart cameras module and remote motion mobile robot control equipped with smart camera module system. The two-level scheme for
remote motion control with smart-pad(IPAD) is introduced on this
paper. In the low-level, the wrap-around view system is controlled or operated to keep the reference points lying around top view image
plane. On the higher level, a robot image based motion controller is utilized to drive the mobile platform to reach the desired position or
track the desired motion planning through image feature feedback. The
design wrap-around view system equipped on presents such advantages as follows: 1) a satisfactory solution for the FOV and affine
problem; 2) free of any complex and constraint with robot pose. The performance of the wrap-around view equipped on mobile robot
remote control is proven by experimental results.
Abstract: This paper presents the decoder design for the single error correcting and double error detecting code proposed by the authors in an earlier paper. The speed of error detection and correction of a code is largely dependent upon the associated encoder and decoder circuits. The complexity and the speed of such circuits are determined by the number of 1?s in the parity check matrix (PCM). The number of 1?s in the parity check matrix for the code proposed by the authors are fewer than in any currently known single error correcting/double error detecting code. This results in simplified encoding and decoding circuitry for error detection and correction.
Abstract: In this paper, the C1-conforming finite element method is analyzed for a class of nonlinear fourth-order hyperbolic partial differential equation. Some a priori bounds are derived using Lyapunov functional, and existence, uniqueness and regularity for the weak solutions are proved. Optimal error estimates are derived for both semidiscrete and fully discrete schemes.
Abstract: This paper presents the design of a ring-shaped tri-axial fore sensor that can be incorporated into the tip of a guidewire for use in minimally invasive surgery (MIS). The designed sensor comprises a ring-shaped structure located at the center of four cantilever beams. The ringdesign allows surgical tools to be easily passed through which largely simplified the integration process. Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) are used aspiezoresistive sensing elementsembeddedon the four cantilevers of the sensor to detect the resistance change caused by the applied load.An integration scheme with new designed guidewire tip structure having two coils at the distal end is presented. Finite element modeling has been employed in the sensor design to find the maximum stress location in order to put the SiNWs at the high stress regions to obtain maximum output. A maximum applicable force of 5 mN is found from modeling. The interaction mechanism between the designed sensor and a steel wire has been modeled by FEM. A linear relationship between the applied load on the steel wire and the induced stress on the SiNWs were observed.
Abstract: Nowadays, hard disk is one of the most popular storage components. In hard disk industry, the hard disk drive must pass various complex processes and tested systems. In each step, there are some failures. To reduce waste from these failures, we must find the root cause of those failures. Conventionall data analysis method is not effective enough to analyze the large capacity of data. In this paper, we proposed the Hough method for straight line detection that helps to detect straight line defect patterns that occurs in hard disk drive. The proposed method will help to increase more speed and accuracy in failure analysis.
Abstract: The clustering ensembles combine multiple partitions
generated by different clustering algorithms into a single clustering
solution. Clustering ensembles have emerged as a prominent method
for improving robustness, stability and accuracy of unsupervised
classification solutions. So far, many contributions have been done to
find consensus clustering. One of the major problems in clustering
ensembles is the consensus function. In this paper, firstly, we
introduce clustering ensembles, representation of multiple partitions,
its challenges and present taxonomy of combination algorithms.
Secondly, we describe consensus functions in clustering ensembles
including Hypergraph partitioning, Voting approach, Mutual
information, Co-association based functions and Finite mixture
model, and next explain their advantages, disadvantages and
computational complexity. Finally, we compare the characteristics of
clustering ensembles algorithms such as computational complexity,
robustness, simplicity and accuracy on different datasets in previous
techniques.
Abstract: In this study, the designed dual stage membrane
bioreactor (MBR) system was conceptualized for the treatment of
cyanide and heavy metals in electroplating wastewater. The design
consisted of a primary treatment stage to reduce the impact of
fluctuations and the secondary treatment stage to remove the residual
cyanide and heavy metal contaminants in the wastewater under
alkaline pH conditions. The primary treatment stage contained
hydrolyzed Citrus sinensis (C. sinensis) pomace and the secondary
treatment stage contained active Aspergillus awamori (A. awamori)
biomass, supplemented solely with C. sinensis pomace extract from
the hydrolysis process. An average of 76.37%, 95.37%, 93.26 and
94.76% and 99.55%, 99.91%, 99.92% and 99.92% degradation
efficiency for total cyanide (T-CN), including the sorption of nickel
(Ni), zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) were observed after the first and
second treatment stages, respectively. Furthermore, cyanide
conversion by-products degradation was 99.81% and 99.75 for both
formate (CHOO-) and ammonium (NH4
+) after the second treatment
stage. After the first, second and third regeneration cycles of the C.
sinensis pomace in the first treatment stage, Ni, Zn and Cu removal
achieved was 99.13%, 99.12% and 99.04% (first regeneration cycle),
98.94%, 98.92% and 98.41% (second regeneration cycle) and 98.46
%, 98.44% and 97.91% (third regeneration cycle), respectively.
There was relatively insignificant standard deviation detected in all
the measured parameters in the system which indicated
reproducibility of the remediation efficiency in this continuous
system.
Abstract: A specially designed flat plate was mounted vertically
over the axial line in the wind tunnel of the Aerospace Department of
the Pusan National University. The plate is 2 m long, 0.8 m high and 8
cm thick. The measurements were performed in velocity range from
15 to 60 m/s. A sand paper turbulizer was placed close to the plate nose
to provide fully developed turbulent boundary layer over the most part
of the plate. Strain balances were mounted in the trailing part of the
plate to measure the skin friction drag over removable insertions of
0.55×0.25m2 size. A set of the insertions was designed and
manufactured: 3mm thick polished metal surface and three compliant
surfaces. The compliant surfaces were manufactured of a silicone
rubber Silastic® S2 (Dow Corning company). To modify the
viscoelastic properties of the rubber, its composition was varied: 90%
of the rubber + 10% catalyst (standard), 92.5% + 7.5% (weak), 85% +
15% (strong). Modulus of elasticity and the loss tangent were
measured accurately for these materials in the frequency range from
40 Hz to 3 KHz using the unique proposed technique.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a method to extract the road
signs. Firstly, the grabbed image is converted into the HSV color space
to detect the road signs. Secondly, the morphological operations are
used to reduce noise. Finally, extract the road sign using the geometric
property. The feature extraction of road sign is done by using the color
information. The proposed method has been tested for the real
situations. From the experimental results, it is seen that the proposed
method can extract the road sign features effectively.
Abstract: A multi-board run-time reconfigurable (MRTR)
system for evolvable hardware (EHW) is introduced with the aim to
implement on hardware the bidirectional incremental evolution (BIE)
method. The main features of this digital intrinsic EHW solution rely
on the multi-board approach, the variable chromosome length
management and the partial configuration of the reconfigurable
circuit. These three features provide a high scalability to the solution.
The design has been written in VHDL with the concern of not being
platform dependant in order to keep a flexibility factor as high as
possible. This solution helps tackling the problem of evolving
complex task on digital configurable support.
Abstract: In This Article We establish moment inequality of
dependent random variables,furthermore some theorems of strong law
of large numbers and complete convergence for sequences of dependent
random variables. In particular, independent and identically
distributed Marcinkiewicz Law of large numbers are generalized to
the case of m0-dependent sequences.
Abstract: The Japanese integrative approach to social systems
can be observed in supply chain management as well as in the
relationship between public and private sectors. Both the Lean
Production System and the Developmental State Model are
characterized by efforts towards the achievement of mutual goals,
resulting in initiatives for capacity building which emphasize the
system level. In Brazil, although organizations undertake efforts to
build capabilities at the individual and organizational levels, the
system level is being neglected. Fieldwork data confirmed the findings
of other studies in terms of the lack of integration in supply chain
management in the Brazilian automobile industry. Moreover, due to
the absence of an active role of the Brazilian state in its relationship
with the private sector, automakers are not fully exploiting the
opportunities in the domestic and regional markets. For promoting a
higher level of economic growth as well as to increase the degree of
spill-over of technologies and techniques, a more integrative approach
is needed.
Abstract: The Major Depressive Disorder has been a burden of
medical expense in Taiwan as well as the situation around the world.
Major Depressive Disorder can be defined into different categories by
previous human activities. According to machine learning, we can
classify emotion in correct textual language in advance. It can help
medical diagnosis to recognize the variance in Major Depressive
Disorder automatically. Association language incremental is the
characteristic and relationship that can discovery words in sentence.
There is an overlapping-category problem for classification. In this
paper, we would like to improve the performance in classification in
principle of no overlapping-category problems. We present an
approach that to discovery words in sentence and it can find in high
frequency in the same time and can-t overlap in each category, called
Association Language Features by its Category (ALFC).
Experimental results show that ALFC distinguish well in Major
Depressive Disorder and have better performance. We also compare
the approach with baseline and mutual information that use single
words alone or correlation measure.
Abstract: A virtual collaborative classroom was created at East Carolina University, using videoconference technology via regular internet to bring students from 18 different countries, 2 at a time, to the ECU classroom in real time to learn about each other-s culture. Students from two countries are partnered one on one, they meet for 4-5 weeks, and submit a joint paper. Then the same process is repeated for two other countries. Lectures and student discussions are managed with pre-determined topics and questions. Classes are conducted in English and reading assignments are placed on the website. Administratively all partners are independent, students pay fees and get credits at their home institution. Familiarity with technology, knowledge in cultural understanding and attitude change were assessed, only attitude changes are reported in this paper. After taking this course, all students stated their comfort level in working with, and their desire to interact with, culturally different others grew stronger and their xenophobia and isolationist attitudes decreased.
Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to investigate the exponential stability of the Euler method for a stochastic age-dependent population equations with Poisson random measures. It is proved that the Euler scheme is exponentially stable in mean square sense. An example is given for illustration.
Abstract: Knee joint forces are available by in vivo measurement
using an instrumented knee prosthesis for small to moderate knee
flexion but not for high flexion yet. We created a 2D mathematical
model of the lower limb incorporating several new features such as a
patello-femoral mechanism, a thigh-calf contact at high knee flexion
and co-contracting muscles' force ratio, then used it to determine knee
joint forces arising from high knee flexions in four kneeling
conditions: rising with legs in parallel, with one foot forward, with or
without arm use. With arms used, the maximum values of knee joint
force decreased to about 60% of those with arms not used. When rising
with one foot forward, if arms are not used, the forward leg sustains a
force as large as that sustained when rising with legs parallel.
Abstract: Air quality studies were carried out in the towns of
Putrajaya, Petaling Jaya and Nilai in the Malaysian Peninsular. In this
study, the variations of Ozone (O3) concentrations over a four year
period (2008-2011) were investigated using data obtained from the
Malaysian Department of the Environment (DOE). This study aims to
identify and describe the daily and monthly variations of O3
concentrations at the monitoring sites mentioned. The SPPS program
(Statistical Package for the Social Science) was used to analyze this
data in order to obtain the variations of O3 and also to clarify the
relationship between the stations. The findings of the study revealed
that the highest concentration of O3 occurred during the midday and
afternoon (between 13:00-15:00 hrs). The comparison between
stations also showed that highest O3 concentrations were recorded in
Putrajaya. The comparisons of average and maximum concentrations
of O3 for the three stations showed that the strongest significant
correlation was recorded in the Petaling Jaya station with the value
R2= 0.667. Results from this study indicate that in the urban areas of
Peninsular Malaysia, the concentration of O3 depends on the
concentration of NOx. Furthermore, HYSPLIT back trajectories
(-72h) indicated that air-mass transport patterns can also influence the
O3 concentration in the areas studied.
Abstract: Using a methodology grounded in business process
change theory, we investigate the critical success factors that affect
ERP implementation success in United States and India.
Specifically, we examine the ERP implementation at two case study
companies, one in each country. Our findings suggest that certain
factors that affect the success of ERP implementations are not
culturally bound, whereas some critical success factors depend on the
national culture of the country in which the system is being
implemented. We believe that the understanding of these critical
success factors will deepen the understanding of ERP
implementations and will help avoid implementation mistakes,
thereby increasing the rate of success in culturally different contexts.
Implications of the findings and future research directions for both
academicians and practitioners are also discussed.
