Abstract: Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) technique
obtained a significant attention in machining processes to reduce
environmental loads caused by usage of conventional cutting fluids.
Recently nanofluids are finding an extensive application in the field
of mechanical engineering because of their superior lubrication and
heat dissipation characteristics. This paper investigates the use of a
nanofluid under MQL mode to improve grinding characteristics of
Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Taguchi-s experimental design technique has been
used in the present investigation and a second order model has been
established to predict grinding forces and surface roughness.
Different concentrations of water based Al2O3 nanofluids were
applied in the grinding operation through MQL setup developed in
house and the results have been compared with those of conventional
coolant and pure water. Experimental results showed that grinding
forces reduced significantly when nano cutting fluid was used even at
low concentration of the nano particles and surface finish has been
found to improve with higher concentration of the nano particles.
Abstract: In the recent past, there has been an increasing interest
in applying evolutionary methods to Knowledge Discovery in
Databases (KDD) and a number of successful applications of Genetic
Algorithms (GA) and Genetic Programming (GP) to KDD have been
demonstrated. The most predominant representation of the
discovered knowledge is the standard Production Rules (PRs) in the
form If P Then D. The PRs, however, are unable to handle
exceptions and do not exhibit variable precision. The Censored
Production Rules (CPRs), an extension of PRs, were proposed by
Michalski & Winston that exhibit variable precision and supports an
efficient mechanism for handling exceptions. A CPR is an
augmented production rule of the form:
If P Then D Unless C, where C (Censor) is an exception to the rule.
Such rules are employed in situations, in which the conditional
statement 'If P Then D' holds frequently and the assertion C holds
rarely. By using a rule of this type we are free to ignore the exception
conditions, when the resources needed to establish its presence are
tight or there is simply no information available as to whether it
holds or not. Thus, the 'If P Then D' part of the CPR expresses
important information, while the Unless C part acts only as a switch
and changes the polarity of D to ~D.
This paper presents a classification algorithm based on evolutionary
approach that discovers comprehensible rules with exceptions in the
form of CPRs.
The proposed approach has flexible chromosome encoding, where
each chromosome corresponds to a CPR. Appropriate genetic
operators are suggested and a fitness function is proposed that
incorporates the basic constraints on CPRs. Experimental results are
presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
Abstract: Open Agent System platform based on High Level
Architecture is firstly proposed to support the application involving
heterogeneous agents. The basic idea is to develop different wrappers
for different agent systems, which are wrapped as federates to join a
federation. The platform is based on High Level Architecture and the
advantages for this open standard are naturally inherited, such as
system interoperability and reuse. Especially, the federal architecture
allows different federates to be heterogeneous so as to support the
integration of different agent systems. Furthermore, both implicit
communication and explicit communication between agents can be
supported. Then, as the wrapper RTI_JADE an example, the
components are discussed. Finally, the performance of RTI_JADE is
analyzed. The results show that RTI_JADE works very efficiently.
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate a blind channel estimation method for Multi-carrier CDMA systems that use a subspace decomposition technique. This technique exploits the orthogonality property between the noise subspace and the received user codes to obtain channel of each user. In the past we used Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique but SVD have most computational complexity so in this paper use a new algorithm called URV Decomposition, which serve as an intermediary between the QR decomposition and SVD, replaced in SVD technique to track the noise space of the received data. Because of the URV decomposition has almost the same estimation performance as the SVD, but has less computational complexity.

The results based on simulation covers the use of applied forces during adjustment of the mirror radius are presented.
Abstract: This paper and its companion (Part 2) deal with
modeling and optimization of two NP-hard problems in production
planning of flexible manufacturing system (FMS), part type selection
problem and loading problem. The part type selection problem and
the loading problem are strongly related and heavily influence the
system-s efficiency and productivity. The complexity of the problems
is harder when flexibilities of operations such as the possibility of
operation processed on alternative machines with alternative tools are
considered. These problems have been modeled and solved
simultaneously by using real coded genetic algorithms (RCGA)
which uses an array of real numbers as chromosome representation.
These real numbers can be converted into part type sequence and
machines that are used to process the part types. This first part of the
papers focuses on the modeling of the problems and discussing how
the novel chromosome representation can be applied to solve the
problems. The second part will discuss the effectiveness of the
RCGA to solve various test bed problems.
Abstract: Improving performance measures in the construction
processes has been a major concern for managers and decision
makers in the industry. They seek for ways to recognize the key
factors which have the largest effect on the process. Identifying such
factors can guide them to focus on the right parts of the process in
order to gain the best possible result. In the present study design of
experiment (DOE) has been applied to a computer simulation model
of brick laying process to determine significant factors while
productivity has been chosen as the response of the experiment. To
this end, four controllable factors and their interaction have been
experimented and the best factor level has been calculated for each
one. The results indicate that three factors, namely, labor of brick,
labor of mortar and inter arrival time of mortar along with interaction
of labor of brick and labor of mortar are significant.
Abstract: Image restoration involves elimination of noise. Filtering techniques were adopted so far to restore images since last five decades. In this paper, we consider the problem of image restoration degraded by a blur function and corrupted by random noise. A method for reducing additive noise in images by explicit analysis of local image statistics is introduced and compared to other noise reduction methods. The proposed method, which makes use of an a priori noise model, has been evaluated on various types of images. Bayesian based algorithms and technique of image processing have been described and substantiated with experimentation using MATLAB.
Abstract: Human amniotic membrane (HAM) is a useful
biological material for the reconstruction of damaged ocular surface.
The processing and preservation of HAM is critical to prevent the
patients undergoing amniotic membrane transplant (AMT) from cross
infections. For HAM preparation human placenta is obtained after an
elective cesarean delivery. Before collection, the donor is screened
for seronegativity of HCV, Hbs Ag, HIV and Syphilis. After
collection, placenta is washed in balanced salt solution (BSS) in
sterile environment. Amniotic membrane is then separated from the
placenta as well as chorion while keeping the preparation in BSS.
Scrapping of HAM is then carried out manually until all the debris is
removed and clear transparent membrane is acquired. Nitrocellulose
membrane filters are then placed on the stromal side of HAM, cut
around the edges with little membrane folded towards other side
making it easy to separate during surgery. HAM is finally stored in
solution of glycerine and Dulbecco-s Modified Eagle Medium
(DMEM) in 1:1 ratio containing antibiotics. The capped borosil vials
containing HAM are kept at -80°C until use. This vial is thawed to
room temperature and opened under sterile operation theatre
conditions at the time of surgery.
Abstract: The paper discusses the results obtained to predict
reinforcement in singly reinforced beam using Neural Net (NN),
Support Vector Machines (SVM-s) and Tree Based Models. Major
advantage of SVM-s over NN is of minimizing a bound on the
generalization error of model rather than minimizing a bound on
mean square error over the data set as done in NN. Tree Based
approach divides the problem into a small number of sub problems to
reach at a conclusion. Number of data was created for different
parameters of beam to calculate the reinforcement using limit state
method for creation of models and validation. The results from this
study suggest a remarkably good performance of tree based and
SVM-s models. Further, this study found that these two techniques
work well and even better than Neural Network methods. A
comparison of predicted values with actual values suggests a very
good correlation coefficient with all four techniques.
Abstract: Fundamental motivation of this paper is how gaze estimation can be utilized effectively regarding an application to games. In games, precise estimation is not always important in aiming targets but an ability to move a cursor to an aiming target accurately is also significant. Incidentally, from a game producing point of view, a separate expression of a head movement and gaze movement sometimes becomes advantageous to expressing sense of presence. A case that panning a background image associated with a head movement and moving a cursor according to gaze movement can be a representative example. On the other hand, widely used technique of POG estimation is based on a relative position between a center of corneal reflection of infrared light sources and a center of pupil. However, a calculation of a center of pupil requires relatively complicated image processing, and therefore, a calculation delay is a concern, since to minimize a delay of inputting data is one of the most significant requirements in games. In this paper, a method to estimate a head movement by only using corneal reflections of two infrared light sources in different locations is proposed. Furthermore, a method to control a cursor using gaze movement as well as a head movement is proposed. By using game-like-applications, proposed methods are evaluated and, as a result, a similar performance to conventional methods is confirmed and an aiming control with lower computation power and stressless intuitive operation is obtained.
Abstract: This research focuses on the effect of weight
percentage variation and size variation of MgFeSi added,
gating system design and reaction chamber design on inmold
process. By using inmold process, well-known problem of
fading is avoided because the liquid iron reacts with
magnesium in the mold and not, as usual, in the ladle. During
the pouring operation, liquid metal passes through the
chamber containing the magnesium, where the reaction of the
metal with magnesium proceeds in the absence of atmospheric
oxygen [1].In this paper, the results of microstructural
characteristic of ductile iron on this parameters are mentioned.
The mechanisms of the inmold process are also described [2].
The data obtained from this research will assist in producing
the vehicle parts and other machinery parts for different
industrial zones and government industries and in transferring
the technology to all industrial zones in Myanmar. Therefore,
the inmold technology offers many advantages over traditional
treatment methods both from a technical and environmental,
as well as an economical point of view. The main objective of
this research is to produce ductile iron castings in all industrial
sectors in Myanmar more easily with lower costs. It will also
assist the sharing of knowledge and experience related to the
ductile iron production.
Abstract: In this study, we discussed the effects on the thermal
comfort of super high-rise residences that how effected by the high
thermal capacity structural components. We considered different
building orientations, structures, and insulation methods. We used the
dynamic simulation software THERB (simulation of the thermal
environment of residential buildings). It can estimate the temperature,
humidity, sensible temperature, and heating/cooling load for multiple
buildings. In the past studies, we examined the impact of
air-conditioning loads (hereinafter referred to as AC loads) on the
interior structural parts and the AC-usage patterns of super-high-rise
residences.
Super-high-rise residences have more structural components such
as pillars and beams than do ordinary apartment buildings. The
skeleton is generally made of concrete and steel, which have high
thermal-storage capacities. The thermal-storage capacity of
super-high-rise residences is considered to have a larger impact on the
AC load and thermal comfort than that of ordinary residences.
We show that the AC load of super-high-rise units would be
reduced by installing insulation on the surfaces of interior walls that
are not usually insulated in Japan.

Abstract: Nowadays, we are facing with network threats that
cause enormous damage to the Internet community day by day. In
this situation, more and more people try to prevent their network
security using some traditional mechanisms including firewall,
Intrusion Detection System, etc. Among them honeypot is a versatile
tool for a security practitioner, of course, they are tools that are meant
to be attacked or interacted with to more information about attackers,
their motives and tools. In this paper, we will describe usefulness of
low-interaction honeypot and high-interaction honeypot and
comparison between them. And then we propose hybrid honeypot
architecture that combines low and high -interaction honeypot to
mitigate the drawback. In this architecture, low-interaction honeypot
is used as a traffic filter. Activities like port scanning can be
effectively detected by low-interaction honeypot and stop there.
Traffic that cannot be handled by low-interaction honeypot is handed
over to high-interaction honeypot. In this case, low-interaction
honeypot is used as proxy whereas high-interaction honeypot offers
the optimal level realism. To prevent the high-interaction honeypot
from infections, containment environment (VMware) is used.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to analyze influence of
differences of heat insulation methods on indoor thermal environment and comfort of apartment buildings.
This study analyzes indoor thermal environment and comfort on units of apartment buildings using calculation software "THERB" and
compares three different kinds of heat insulation methods. Those are
outside insulation on outside walls, inside insulation on outside walls and interior insulation. In terms of indoor thermal environment, outside insulation is the best to stabilize room temperature. In winter, room temperature on
outside insulation after heating is higher than other and it is kept 3-5 degrees higher through all night. But the surface temperature with
outside insulation did not dramatically increase when heating was used, which was 3 to 5oC lower than the temperature with other
insulation. The PMV of interior insulation fall nearly range of comfort when the heating and cooling was use.
Abstract: A 1.2 V, 0.61 mA bias current, low noise amplifier
(LNA) suitable for low-power applications in the 2.4 GHz band is
presented. Circuit has been implemented, laid out and simulated using
a UMC 130 nm RF-CMOS process. The amplifier provides a 13.3 dB
power gain a noise figure NF< 2.28 dB and a 1-dB compression point
of -15.69 dBm, while dissipating 0.74 mW. Such performance make
this design suitable for wireless sensor networks applications such as
ZigBee.

Abstract: Producing companies aspire to high delivery
availability despite appearing disruptions. To ensure high delivery
availability safety stocksare required. Howeversafety stock leads to
additional capital commitment and compensates disruptions instead
of solving the reasons. The intention is to increase the stability in
production by configuring the production planning and control
systematically. Thus the safety stock can be reduced. The largest
proportion of inventory in producing companies is caused by batch
inventory, schedule deviations and variability of demand rates. These
reasons for high inventory levels can be reduced by configuring the
production planning and control specifically. Hence the inventory
level can be reduced. This is enabled by synchronizing the lot size
straightening the demand as well as optimizing the releasing order,
sequencing and capacity control.
