Abstract: Meat and meat products for human consumption are one of main sources of protein, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. Popular variety of meat product is meatballs, which can be enriched with valuable product – Jerusalem artichoke powder, made from dried and grinded Jerusalem artichoke tubers, it is raw material with low-calorie, low fat, rich in dietary fibres, minerals, and vitamins. The results of this study indicate that that people could accept the new product - meatballs with Jerusalem artichoke powder and Jerusalem artichoke powder is suitable for meatballs preparation, in result them is possible to improve meatballs sensory and physical properties.
Abstract: Indium-tin oxide films are deposited by low plasma
temperature RF sputtering on highly flexible modification of glycol
polyethyleneterephtalate substrates. The produced layers are
characterized with transparency over 82 % and sheet resistance of
86.9 Ω/square. The film’s conductivity was further improved by
additional UV illumination from light source (365 nm), having power
of 250 W. The influence of the UV exposure dose on the structural
and electro-optical properties of ITO was investigated. It was
established that the optimum time of illumination is 10 minutes and
further UV treatment leads to polymer substrates degradation.
Structural and bonds type analysis show that at longer treatment
carbon atoms release and diffuse into ITO films, which worsen their
electrical behavior. For the optimum UV dose the minimum sheet
resistance was measured to be 19.2 Ω/square, and the maximum
transparency remained almost unchanged – above 82 %.
Abstract: Biomechanical properties of infantile aorta in vitro in
cases of different standard anastomoses: end-to-end (ETE), extended
anastomosis end-to-end (EETE) and subclavian flap aortoplasty
(SFA) used for surgical correction of coarctation were analyzed to
detect the influence of the method on the biomechanics of infantile
aorta and possible changes in haemodinamics. 10 specimens of native
aorta, 3 specimens with ETE, 4 EEET and 3 SFA were investigated.
The experiments showed a non-linear relationship between stress and
strain in the infantile aorta, the modulus of elasticity of the aortic wall
increased with the increase of inner pressure. In the case of
anastomosis end-to-end the modulus was almost constant, relevant to
the modulus of elasticity of the aorta with the inner pressure 100-120
mmHg. The anastomoses EETE and SFA showed elastic properties
closer to native aorta, the stiffness of ETE did not change with the
changes in inner pressure.
Abstract: In this paper, a generalized derivatives operator n

introduced by the authors will be discussed. Some subordination and
superordination results involving this operator for certain normalized
analytic functions in the open unit disk will be investigated. Our
results extend corresponding previously known results.
Abstract: This study analyses the perceptions of secondary
school students about the accounting profession in Malaysia. Fifty
five form three and form four students who are taking
accounting/commerce subjects were met. Individual-s perception
data were collected through questionnaires. The results at the
secondary school level suggest that the stereotypical negative image
of the accountant ends, with students expressing the positive view of
the work of an accountant. There were also gender differences in
perceiving the accounting profession. Overall, the results of the study
suggest that we are now in line in projecting positive and accurate
perceptions of the accounting profession to secondary school
students.
Abstract: There is limited evidence from various countries
about the possible impact of various criteria to be used to determine
the scope of the IFRS for SMEs issued in 2009 and, research is
needed in this area. We provide evidence from Romania, an
emerging economy member of the European Union. The aim of this
paper is to analyze in a local setting if size is a relevant factor for
deciding between local and global standards for SMEs. Our results
indicate that size is a moderate indicator of the existence of possible
users interested in financial statements and that there is a difference
between the scopes of the standard determined on various criteria..
Also, we suggest that the international exposure is quite reduced in
the case of SMEs, but is sufficient to suggest that at least some SMEs
would benefit from international comparability of financial
statements
Abstract: Malaysia government had been trying hard in order to
find the most efficient methods in learning. However, it is hard to
actually access and evaluate students whom will then be called an
excellent student. It is because in our realties student who excellent
is only excel in academic. This evaluation becomes a problem
because it not balances in our real life interm of to get an excellent
student in whole area in their involvement of curiculum and cocuriculum.
To overcome this scenario, we designed a module for
Student Idol to evaluate student through three categories which are
academic, co-curiculum and leadership. All the categories have their
own merit point. Using this method, student will be evaluated more
accurate compared to the previously. So, teacher can easily evaluate
their student without having any emotion factor, relation factor and
others. As conclusion this system module will helps the development
of student evaluation more accurate and valid in Student Idol.
Abstract: This paper presents an overview of the multiobjective shortest path problem (MSPP) and a review of essential and recent issues regarding the methods to its solution. The paper further explores a multiobjective evolutionary algorithm as applied to the MSPP and describes its behavior in terms of diversity of solutions, computational complexity, and optimality of solutions. Results show that the evolutionary algorithm can find diverse solutions to the MSPP in polynomial time (based on several network instances) and can be an alternative when other methods are trapped by the tractability problem.
Abstract: Gaharu that produced by Aquilaria spp. is classified as
one of the most valuable forest products traded internationally as it is
very resinous, fragrant and highly valuable heartwood. Gaharu has
been widely used in aromatheraphy, medicine, perfume and religious
practices. This work aimed to determine the factors affecting solid
liquid extraction of gaharu oil using hexane as solvent under
experimental condition. The kinetics of extraction was assumed and
verified based on a second-order mechanism. The effect of three
main factors, which were temperature, reaction time and solvent to
solid ratio were investigated to achieve maximum oil yield. The
optimum condition were found at temperature 65°C, 9 hours reaction
time and solvent to solid ratio of 12:1 with 14.5% oil yield. The
kinetics experimental data agrees and well fitted with the second
order extraction model. The initial extraction rate (h) was 0.0115
gmL-1min-1; the extraction capacity (Cs) was 1.282gmL-1; the second
order extraction constant (k) was 0.007 mLg-1min-1 and coefficient of
determination, R2 was 0.945.
Abstract: Robotic system is an important area in artificial intelligence that aims at developing the performance techniques of the robot and making it more efficient and more effective in choosing its correct behavior. In this paper the distributed learning classifier system is used for designing a simulated control system for robot to perform complex behaviors. A set of enhanced approaches that support default hierarchies formation is suggested and compared with each other in order to make the simulated robot more effective in mapping the input to the correct output behavior.
Abstract: Al-Murabahah is an Islamic financing facility used in
asset financing, the profit rate of the contract is determined by
components which are also being used in the conventional banking.
Such are cost of fund, overhead cost, risk premium cost and bank-s
profit margin. At the same time, the profit rate determined by Islamic
banking system also refers to Inter-Bank Offered Rate (LIBOR) in
London as a benchmark. This practice has risen arguments among
Muslim scholars in term of its validity of the contract; whether the
contract maintains the Shariah compliance or not. This paper aims to
explore the view of Shariah towards the above components practiced
by Islamic Banking in determining the profit rate of al-murabahah
asset financing in Malaysia. This is a comparative research which
applied the views of Muslim scholars from all major mazahibs in
Islamic jurisprudence and examined the practices by Islamic banks in
Malaysia for the above components. The study found that the shariah
accepts all the components with conditions. The cost of fund is
accepted as a portion of al-mudarabah-s profit, the overhead cost is
accepted as a cost of product, risk premium cost consist of business
risk and mitigation risk are accepted through the concept of alta-awun
and bank-s profit margin is accepted as a right of bank after
venturing in risky investment.
Abstract: The objective of this contribution is to study the
performances in terms of bit error rate, of space-time code algorithms
applied to MIMO communication in tunnels. Indeed, the channel
characteristics in a tunnel are quite different than those of urban or
indoor environment, due to the guiding effect of the tunnel.
Therefore, MIMO channel matrices have been measured in a straight
tunnel, in a frequency band around 3GHz. Correlation between array
elements and properties of the MIMO matrices are first studied as a
function of the distance between the transmitter and the receiver.
Then, owing to a software tool simulating the link, predicted values
of bit error rate are given for VLAST, OSTBC and QSTBC
algorithms applied to a MIMO configuration with 2 or 4 array
elements. Results are interpreted from the analysis of the channel
properties.
Abstract: The increasing divorce and fertility rates outside of marriage, the changing values in the last decades have led to a high prevalence of single parent families. Currently, worldwide, singleparent families represent about a quarter of all families. Recent changes occurring in the structure of single-parent families and also the multitude of factors that influence the quality of life of these families require the development of new research tools in order to provide foundations for social policies addressed to this type of family. The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis concerning the quality of life for single parent families in Romania, based on data collected through a research methodology developed by the authors within a scientific research project funded by a national grant called Partnerships in priority areas.
Abstract: 15 strains of oil-destructing microorganisms were
isolated from oil polluted soil of Western Kazakhstan. Strains 2-A
and 41-3 with the highest oil-destructing activities were chosen from
them. It was shown that these strains oxidized n-alkanes very well,
but isoalkanes, isoparaffin, cycloparaffin and heavy aromatic
compounds were destructed very slowly. These both strains were
tested as preparations for bioremediation of oil-polluted soil in model
and field experiments. The degree of utilizing of soil oil by this
preparation was 79-84 % in field experiments.
Abstract: In recent years, an increased competition and lower profit margins have necessitated a focus on improving the performance of the product development process, an area that traditionally have been excluded from detailed steering and evaluation. A systematic improvement requires a good understanding of the current performance, wherefore the interest for product development performance measurement has increased dramatically. This paper presents a case study that evaluates the performance of the product development performance measurement system used in a Swedish company that is a part of a global corporate group. The study is based on internal documentation and eighteen in-depth interviews with stakeholders involved in the product development process. The results from the case study includes a description of what metrics that are in use, how these are employed, and its affect on the quality of the performance measurement system. Especially, the importance of having a well-defined process proved to have a major impact on the quality of the performance measurement system in this particular case.
Abstract: Representation and description of object shapes by the
slopes of their contours or borders are proposed. The idea is to capture
the essence of the features that make it easier for a shape to be
stored, transmitted, compared and recognized. These features must
be independent of translation, rotation and scaling of the shape. A
approach is proposed to obtain high performance, efficiency and to
merge the boundaries into sequence of straight line segments with
the fewest possible segments. Evaluation on the performance of the
proposed method is based on its comparison with established method
of object shape description.
Abstract: Four phenylurea herbicides (isoproturon, chlortoluron, diuron and linuron) were dissolved in different water matrices in order to study their chemical degradation by using UV radiation, ozone and some advanced oxidation processes (UV/H2O2, O3/H2O2, Fenton reagent and the photo- Fenton system). The waters used were: ultra-pure water, a commercial mineral water, a groundwater and a surface water taken from a reservoir. Elimination levels were established for each herbicide and for several global quality parameters, and a kinetic study was performed in order to determine basic kinetic parameters of each reaction between the target phenylureas and these oxidizing systems.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to identify the conditions of
implementation for reconfigurability in summarizing past flexible
manufacturing systems (FMS) research by drawing overall
conclusions from many separate High Performance Manufacturing
(HPM) studies. Meta-analysis will be applied to links between HPM
programs and their practices related to FMS and manufacturing
performance with particular reference to responsiveness performance.
More specifically, an application of meta-analysis will be made with
reference to two of the main steps towards the development of an
empirically-tested theory: testing the adequacy of the measurement of
variables and testing the linkages between the variables.
Abstract: Here we report on the utilization of Laser-Induced
Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for determination of Quantum Dots
(QDs) in liquid solution. The process of optimization of experimental
conditions from choosing the carrier medium to application of colloid
QDs is described. The main goal was to get the best possible signal to
noise ratio.
The results obtained from the measurements confirmed the capability
of LIBS technique for qualitative and afterwards quantitative
determination of QDs in liquid solution.
Abstract: In vitro gastro-duodenal digestion model was used to investigate the changes of emulsions under digestion conditions. Oil in water emulsions stabilized by whey proteins (2%) and stabilized by whey proteins (2%) with addition of carboxymethyl cellulose (0.75%) as gelling agent of continuous phase were prepared at pH7. Both emulsions were destabilized under gastric conditions; however the protective role of carboxymethyl cellulose was indicated by recording delay of fat digestibility of this emulsion. In the presence of carboxymethyl cellulose whey proteins on the interfacial surface of droplets were more resistant to gastric degradation causing limited hydrolysis of fat due to the poor acceptability of lipids for the enzymes. Studies of emulsions using in vivo model supported results from in vitro studies. Lower content of triglycerides in blood serum and higher amount of fecal fat of rats were determined when rats were fed by diet containing emulsion made with whey proteins and carboxymethyl cellulose.
