Abstract: In present work are considered the scheme of
evaluation the transition probability in quantum system. It is based on
path integral representation of transition probability amplitude and its
evaluation by means of a saddle point method, applied to the part of
integration variables. The whole integration process is reduced to
initial value problem solutions of Hamilton equations with a random
initial phase point. The scheme is related to the semiclassical initial
value representation approaches using great number of trajectories. In
contrast to them from total set of generated phase paths only one path
for each initial coordinate value is selected in Monte Karlo process.
Abstract: In the following text, we show that by introducing
universal kinetic scheme, the origin of rate retardation and inhibition
period which observed in dithiobenzoate-mediated RAFT
polymerization can be described properly. We develop our model by
utilizing the method of moments, then we apply our model to
different monomer/RAFT agent systems, both homo- and
copolymerization. The modeling results are in an excellent
agreement with experiments and imply the validity of universal
kinetic scheme, not only for dithiobenzoate-mediated systems, but
also for different types of monomer/RAFT agent ones.
Abstract: Data hiding into text documents itself involves pretty
complexities due to the nature of text documents. A robust text
watermarking scheme targeting an object based environment is
presented in this research. The heart of the proposed solution
describes the concept of watermarking an object based text document
where each and every text string is entertained as a separate object
having its own set of properties. Taking advantage of the z-ordering
of objects watermark is applied with the z-axis letting zero fidelity
disturbances to the text. Watermark sequence of bits generated
against user key is hashed with selected properties of given
document, to determine the bit sequence to embed. Bits are
embedded along z-axis and the document has no fidelity issues when
printed, scanned or photocopied.
Abstract: We propose a new perspective on speech
communication using blind source separation. The original speech is
mixed with key signals which consist of the mixing matrix, chaotic
signals and a random noise. However, parts of the keys (the mixing
matrix and the random noise) are not necessary in decryption. In
practice implement, one can encrypt the speech by changing the noise
signal every time. Hence, the present scheme obtains the advantages
of a One Time Pad encryption while avoiding its drawbacks in key
exchange. It is demonstrated that the proposed scheme is immune
against traditional attacks.
Abstract: We present a novel scheme to recognize isolated speech
signals using certain statistical parameters derived from those signals.
The determination of the statistical estimates is based on extracted
signal information rather than the original signal information in
order to reduce the computational complexity. Subtle details of
these estimates, after extracting the speech signal from ambience
noise, are first exploited to segregate the polysyllabic words from
the monosyllabic ones. Precise recognition of each distinct word is
then carried out by analyzing the histogram, obtained from these
information.
Abstract: Subdivision surfaces were applied to the entire
meshes in order to produce smooth surfaces refinement from coarse
mesh. Several schemes had been introduced in this area to provide a
set of rules to converge smooth surfaces. However, to compute and
render all the vertices are really inconvenient in terms of memory
consumption and runtime during the subdivision process. It will lead
to a heavy computational load especially at a higher level of
subdivision. Adaptive subdivision is a method that subdivides only at
certain areas of the meshes while the rest were maintained less
polygons. Although adaptive subdivision occurs at the selected areas,
the quality of produced surfaces which is their smoothness can be
preserved similar as well as regular subdivision. Nevertheless,
adaptive subdivision process burdened from two causes; calculations
need to be done to define areas that are required to be subdivided and
to remove cracks created from the subdivision depth difference
between the selected and unselected areas. Unfortunately, the result
of adaptive subdivision when it reaches to the higher level of
subdivision, it still brings the problem with memory consumption.
This research brings to iterative process of adaptive subdivision to
improve the previous adaptive method that will reduce memory
consumption applied on triangular mesh. The result of this iterative
process was acceptable better in memory and appearance in order to
produce fewer polygons while it preserves smooth surfaces.
Abstract: Unsteady magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) boundary
layer flow and heat transfer over a continuously stretching surface in
the presence of radiation is examined. By similarity transformation,
the governing partial differential equations are transformed to a set of
ordinary differential equations. Numerical solutions are obtained by
employing the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method scheme with shooting
technique in Maple software environment. The effects of
unsteadiness parameter, radiation parameter, magnetic parameter and
Prandtl number on the heat transfer characteristics are obtained and
discussed. It is found that the heat transfer rate at the surface
increases as the Prandtl number and unsteadiness parameter increase
but decreases with magnetic and radiation parameter.
Abstract: Guard channels improve the probability of successful
handoffs by reserving a number of channels exclusively for handoffs.
This concept has the risk of underutilization of radio spectrum due to
the fact that fewer channels are granted to originating calls even if
these guard channels are not always used, when originating calls are
starving for the want of channels. The penalty is the reduction of
total carried traffic. The optimum number of guard channels can help
reduce this problem. This paper presents fuzzy logic based guard
channel scheme wherein guard channels are reorganized on the basis
of traffic density, so that guard channels are provided on need basis.
This will help in incorporating more originating calls and hence high
throughput of the radio spectrum
Abstract: In this paper, some problem formulations of dynamic object parameters recovery described by non-autonomous system of ordinary differential equations with multipoint unshared edge conditions are investigated. Depending on the number of additional conditions the problem is reduced to an algebraic equations system or to a problem of quadratic programming. With this purpose the paper offers a new scheme of the edge conditions transfer method called by conditions shift. The method permits to get rid from differential links and multipoint unshared initially-edge conditions. The advantage of the proposed approach is concluded by capabilities of reduction of a parametric identification problem to essential simple problems of the solution of an algebraic system or quadratic programming.
Abstract: Utilizing echoic intension and distribution from different organs and local details of human body, ultrasonic image can catch important medical pathological changes, which unfortunately may be affected by ultrasonic speckle noise. A feature preserving ultrasonic image denoising and edge enhancement scheme is put forth, which includes two terms: anisotropic diffusion and edge enhancement, controlled by the optimum smoothing time. In this scheme, the anisotropic diffusion is governed by the local coordinate transformation and the first and the second order normal derivatives of the image, while the edge enhancement is done by the hyperbolic tangent function. Experiments on real ultrasonic images indicate effective preservation of edges, local details and ultrasonic echoic bright strips on denoising by our scheme.
Abstract: In an open real-time system environment, the coexistence of different kinds of real-time and non real-time applications makes the system scheduling mechanism face new requirements and challenges. One two-level scheduling scheme of the open real-time systems is introduced, and points out that hard and soft real-time applications are scheduled non-distinctively as the same type real-time applications, the Quality of Service (QoS) cannot be guaranteed. It has two flaws: The first, it can not differentiate scheduling priorities of hard and soft real-time applications, that is to say, it neglects characteristic differences between hard real-time applications and soft ones, so it does not suit a more complex real-time environment. The second, the worst case execution time of soft real-time applications cannot be predicted exactly, so it is not worth while to cost much spending in order to assure all soft real-time applications not to miss their deadlines, and doing that may cause resource wasting. In order to solve this problem, a novel two-level real-time scheduling mechanism (including scheduling profile and scheduling algorithm) which adds the process of dealing with soft real-time applications is proposed. Finally, we verify real-time scheduling mechanism from two aspects of theory and experiment. The results indicate that our scheduling mechanism can achieve the following objectives. (1) It can reflect the difference of priority when scheduling hard and soft real-time applications. (2) It can ensure schedulability of hard real-time applications, that is, their rate of missing deadline is 0. (3) The overall rate of missing deadline of soft real-time applications can be less than 1. (4) The deadline of a non-real-time application is not set, whereas the scheduling algorithm that server 0 S uses can avoid the “starvation" of jobs and increase QOS. By doing that, our scheduling mechanism is more compatible with different types of applications and it will be applied more widely.
Abstract: Photonic Crystal (PhC) based devices are being
increasingly used in multifunctional, compact devices in integrated
optical communication systems. They provide excellent
controllability of light, yet maintaining the small size required for
miniaturization. In this paper, the band gap properties of PhCs and
their typical applications in optical waveguiding are considered.
Novel PhC based applications such as nonlinear switching and
tapers are considered and simulation results are shown using the
accurate time-domain numerical method based on Finite Difference
Time Domain (FDTD) scheme. The suitability of these devices for
novel applications is discussed and evaluated.
Abstract: Block replacement algorithms to increase hit ratio
have been extensively used in cache memory management. Among
basic replacement schemes, LRU and FIFO have been shown to be
effective replacement algorithms in terms of hit rates. In this paper,
we introduce a flexible stack-based circuit which can be employed in
hardware implementation of both LRU and FIFO policies. We
propose a simple and efficient architecture such that stack-based
replacement algorithms can be implemented without the drawbacks
of the traditional architectures. The stack is modular and hence, a set
of stack rows can be cascaded depending on the number of blocks in
each cache set. Our circuit can be implemented in conjunction with
the cache controller and static/dynamic memories to form a cache
system. Experimental results exhibit that our proposed circuit
provides an average value of 26% improvement in storage bits and its
maximum operating frequency is increased by a factor of two
Abstract: The problem of manipulator control is a highly
complex problem of controlling a system which is multi-input, multioutput,
non-linear and time variant. In this paper some adaptive
fuzzy, and a new hybrid fuzzy control algorithm have been
comparatively evaluated through simulations, for manipulator
control. The adaptive fuzzy controllers consist of self-organizing,
self-tuning, and coarse/fine adaptive fuzzy schemes. These
controllers are tested for different trajectories and for varying
manipulator parameters through simulations. Various performance
indices like the RMS error, steady state error and maximum error are
used for comparison. It is observed that the self-organizing fuzzy
controller gives the best performance. The proposed hybrid fuzzy
plus integral error controller also performs remarkably well, given its
simple structure.
Abstract: Delay-Tolerant Networks (DTNs) are sparse, wireless
networks where disconnections are common due to host mobility and
low node density. The Message Ferrying (MF) scheme is a mobilityassisted
paradigm to improve connectivity in DTN-like networks. A
ferry or message ferry is a special node in the network which has
a per-determined route in the deployed area and relays messages
between mobile hosts (MHs) which are intermittently connected.
Increased contact opportunities among mobile hosts and the ferry
improve the performance of the network, both in terms of message
delivery ratio and average end-end delay. However, due to the inherent
mobility of mobile hosts and pre-determined periodicity of the
message ferry, mobile hosts may often -miss- contact opportunities
with a ferry. In this paper, we propose the combination of stationary
ferry access points (FAPs) with MF routing to increase contact
opportunities between mobile hosts and the MF and consequently
improve the performance of the DTN. We also propose several
placement models for deploying FAPs on MF routes. We evaluate the
performance of the FAP placement models through comprehensive
simulation. Our findings show that FAPs do improve the performance
of MF-assisted DTNs and symmetric placement of FAPs outperforms
other placement strategies.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a new image segmentation approach for colour textured images. The proposed method for image segmentation consists of two stages. In the first stage, textural features using gray level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM) are computed for regions of interest (ROI) considered for each class. ROI acts as ground truth for the classes. Ohta model (I1, I2, I3) is the colour model used for segmentation. Statistical mean feature at certain inter pixel distance (IPD) of I2 component was considered to be the optimized textural feature for further segmentation. In the second stage, the feature matrix obtained is assumed to be the degraded version of the image labels and modeled as Markov Random Field (MRF) model to model the unknown image labels. The labels are estimated through maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation criterion using ICM algorithm. The performance of the proposed approach is compared with that of the existing schemes, JSEG and another scheme which uses GLCM and MRF in RGB colour space. The proposed method is found to be outperforming the existing ones in terms of segmentation accuracy with acceptable rate of convergence. The results are validated with synthetic and real textured images.
Abstract: Most of the nonlinear equation solvers do not converge always or they use the derivatives of the function to approximate the
root of such equations. Here, we give a derivative-free algorithm that guarantees the convergence. The proposed two-step method, which
is to some extent like the secant method, is accompanied with some
numerical examples. The illustrative instances manifest that the rate of convergence in proposed algorithm is more than the quadratically
iterative schemes.
Abstract: Cell formation is the first step in the design of cellular
manufacturing systems. In this study, a general purpose
computational scheme employing a hybrid tabu search algorithm as
the core is proposed to solve the cell formation problem and its
variants. In the proposed scheme, great flexibilities are left to the
users. The core solution searching algorithm embedded in the scheme
can be easily changed to any other meta-heuristic algorithms, such as
the simulated annealing, genetic algorithm, etc., based on the
characteristics of the problems to be solved or the preferences the
users might have. In addition, several counters are designed to control
the timing of conducting intensified solution searching and diversified
solution searching strategies interactively.
Abstract: In this paper, a novel feature-based image
watermarking scheme is proposed. Zernike moments which have
invariance properties are adopted in the scheme. In the proposed
scheme, feature points are first extracted from host image and several
circular patches centered on these points are generated. The patches
are used as carriers of watermark information because they can be
regenerated to locate watermark embedding positions even when
watermarked images are severely distorted. Zernike transform is then
applied to the patches to calculate local Zernike moments. Dither
modulation is adopted to quantize the magnitudes of the Zernike
moments followed by false alarm analysis. Experimental results show
that quality degradation of watermarked image is visually
transparent. The proposed scheme is very robust against image
processing operations and geometric attacks.
Abstract: Steel surface defect detection is essentially one of
pattern recognition problems. Support Vector Machines (SVMs) are
known as one of the most proper classifiers in this application. In this
paper, we introduce a more accurate classification method by using
SVMs as our final classifier of the inspection system. In this scheme,
multiclass classification task is performed based on the "one-againstone"
method and different kernels are utilized for each pair of the
classes in multiclass classification of the different defects.
In the proposed system, a decision tree is employed in the first
stage for two-class classification of the steel surfaces to "defect" and
"non-defect", in order to decrease the time complexity. Based on
the experimental results, generated from over one thousand images,
the proposed multiclass classification scheme is more accurate than
the conventional methods and the overall system yields a sufficient
performance which can meet the requirements in steel manufacturing.
