Abstract: Microarrays are made it possible to simultaneously monitor the expression profiles of thousands of genes under various experimental conditions. It is used to identify the co-expressed genes in specific cells or tissues that are actively used to make proteins. This method is used to analysis the gene expression, an important task in bioinformatics research. Cluster analysis of gene expression data has proved to be a useful tool for identifying co-expressed genes, biologically relevant groupings of genes and samples. In this work K-Means algorithms has been applied for clustering of Gene Expression Data. Further, rough set based Quick reduct algorithm has been applied for each cluster in order to select the most similar genes having high correlation. Then the ACV measure is used to evaluate the refined clusters and classification is used to evaluate the proposed method. They could identify compact clusters with feature selection method used to genes are selected.
Abstract: Tinnitus is commonly defined as an aberrant
perception of sound without external stimulus. It’s a chronic
condition with consequences on the QOL. The coping strategies used
were not always effective and coping was identified as a predictor of
QOL in individuals with tinnitus, which reinforces the idea that in
health the use of effective coping styles should be promoted. This
work intend to verify relations between coping strategies assessed by
BriefCope in subjects with tinnitus and variables such as gender, age
and severity of tinnitus measured by THI and the Visual Analogue
Scale and also hearing and hyperacusis. The results indicate that there
are any statistically significant relationships between the variables
assessed in relation to the results of BriefCope except in the Visual
Analogue Scale. These results, indicating no relationship between
almost all variables, reinforce the need for further study of coping
strategies use by these patients.
Abstract: In recent years, a reconstruction project for sewer
pipelines has been progressing in Japan with the aim of renewing old
sewer culverts. However, it is difficult to secure a sufficient base area
for shafts in an urban area because many streets are narrow with a
complex layout. As a result, construction in such urban areas is
generally very demanding.
In urban areas, there is a strong requirement for a safe, reliable and
economical construction method that does not disturb the public’s
daily life and urban activities. With this in mind, we developed a new
construction method called the “shield switching type micro-tunneling
method,” which integrates the micro-tunneling method and shield
method.
In this method, pipeline is constructed first for sections that are
gently curved or straight using the economical micro-tunneling
method, and then the method is switched to the shield method for
sections with a sharp curve or a series of curves without establishing
an intermediate shaft.
This paper provides the information, features and construction
examples of this newly developed method.
Abstract: The generation of an idea that goes through several
phases is affected by individual factors, interests, preferences and
motivation. The purpose of this research was to analyze the
difference in difficulties of generating ideas according to individual
learning styles. A total of 375 technical students from four technical
universities in Malaysia were randomly selected as samples. The
Kolb Learning Styles Inventory and a set of developed questionnaires
were used in this research. The results showed that the most dominant
learning style among technical students is Doer. A total of 319
(85.1%) technical students faced difficulties in solving individual
assignments. Most of the problem faced by technical students is the
difficulty of generating ideas for solving individual assignments.
There was no significant difference in difficulties of generating ideas
according to students’ learning styles. Therefore, students need to
learn higher order thinking skills enabling students to generate ideas
and consequently complete assignments.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to analyze the migration
process of the rural population of Bangladesh. Heckman Probit model
with sample selection was applied in this paper to explore the
determinants of migration and intensity of migration at farm
household level. The farm survey was conducted in the central part of
Bangladesh on 160 farm households with migrant and on 154 farm
households without migrant including a total of 316 farm households.
The results from the applied model revealed that main determinants
of migration at farm household level are household age, economically
active males and females, number of young and old dependent
members in the household and agricultural land holding. On the other
hand the main determinants of intensity of migration are availability
of economically adult male in the household, number of young
dependents and agricultural land holding.
Abstract: Thewake flow behind two yawed side-by-sidecircular
cylinders is investigated using athree-dimensional vorticity probe.
Four yaw angles (α), namely, 0°, 15°, 30° and 45° and twocylinder
spacing ratios T*
of 1.7 and 3.0 were tested. For T*
= 3.0, there exist
two vortex streets and the cylinders behave as independent and
isolated ones. The maximum contour value of the coherent streamwise
vorticity ~* ωx
is only about 10% of that of the spanwise vorticity ~* ωz
.
With the increase of α,
~* ωx
increases whereas ~* ωz
decreases. At α =
45°, ~* ωx
is about 67% of ~* ωz
.For T* = 1.7, only a single peak is
detected in the energy spectrum. The spanwise vorticity contours have
an organized pattern only at α = 0°. The maximum coherent vorticity
contours of ~* ω x
and ~* ωz
for T*
= 1.7 are about 30% and 7% of those
for T*
= 3.0.The independence principle (IP)in terms of Strouhal
numbers is applicable in both wakes when α< 40°.
Abstract: This paper describes optimal thinning of an Elliptical
Cylindrical Array (ECA) of uniformly excited isotropic antennas
which can generate directive beam with minimum relative Side Lobe
Level (SLL). The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method, which
represents a new approach for optimization problems in
electromagnetic, is used in the optimization process. The PSO is used
to determine the optimal set of ‘ON-OFF’ elements that provides a
radiation pattern with maximum SLL reduction. Optimization is done
without prefixing the value of First Null Beam Width (FNBW). The
variation of SLL with element spacing of thinned array is also
reported. Simulation results show that the number of array elements
can be reduced by more than 50% of the total number of elements in
the array with a simultaneous reduction in SLL to less than -27dB.
Abstract: In broadcasting and cellular system, a cooperative
scheme is proposed for the improvement of performance of bit error
rate. Up to date, the coverage of broadcasting system coexists with the
coverage of cellular system. Therefore each user in a cellular coverage
is frequently involved in a broadcasting coverage. The proposed
cooperative scheme is derived from the shared areas. The users receive
signals from both broadcasting station and cellular station. The
proposed scheme selects a cellular base station of a worse channel to
achieve better performance of bit error rate in cooperation. The
performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated in fading channel.
Abstract: In this research, the capability of neural networks in
modeling and learning complicated and nonlinear relations has been
used to develop a model for the prediction of changes in the diameter
of bubbles in pool boiling distilled water. The input parameters used
in the development of this network include element temperature, heat
flux, and retention time of bubbles. The test data obtained from the
experiment of the pool boiling of distilled water, and the
measurement of the bubbles form on the cylindrical element. The
model was developed based on training algorithm, which is
typologically of back-propagation type. Considering the correlation
coefficient obtained from this model is 0.9633. This shows that this
model can be trusted for the simulation and modeling of the size of
bubble and thermal transfer of boiling.
Abstract: In this research, the changes in bubbles diameter and
number that may occur due to the change in heat flux of pure water
during pool boiling process. For this purpose, test equipment was
designed and developed to collect test data. The bubbles were graded
using Caliper Screen software. To calculate the growth and
nucleation rates of bubbles under different fluxes, population balance
model was employed. The results show that the increase in heat flux
from q=20 kw/m2 to q= 102 kw/m2 raised the growth and nucleation
rates of bubbles.
Abstract: Service quality is the highest requirement by users,
especially for the service in electronic government. During the past
decades, it has become a major area of academic investigation.
Considering this issue, there are a lot of researches that evaluated the
dimensions and e-service contexts. This study also identified the
dimensions of service quality, but focuses on a new concept and
provides a new methodology in developing measurement scales of
e-service quality such as information quality, service quality and
organization quality. Finally, this study will suggest a key factor to
evaluate e-government service quality better.
Abstract: The efficiency of heavy metals removal from sewage
sludge in bioleaching processes with heterotrophic, chemoautotrophic
(sulphur-oxidizing) sludge cenoses and chemical leaching (in
distilled water, weakly acidic or alkaline medium) was compared.
The efficacy of heavy metals removal from sewage sludge varies
from 83 % (Zn) up to 14 % (Cr) and follows the order: Zn > Mn > Cu
> Ni > Co > Pb > Cr. The advantages of metals bioleaching process
at heterotrophic metabolism were shown. A new process for
bioconversation of sewage sludge into fertilizer at middle
temperatures after partial heavy metals removal was developed. This
process is based on enhancing vital ability of heterotrophic
microorganisms by adding easily metabolized nutrients and synthesis
of metabolites by growing sludge cenoses. These metabolites possess
the properties of heavy metals extractants and flocculants which
provide the enhancement of sludge flocks sedimentation. The process
results in biomineral fertilizer of prolonged action with immobilized
sludge bioelements. The fertilizer satisfies the EU limits for the
sewage sludge of agricultural utilization. High efficiency of the
biomineral fertilizer obtained has been demonstrated in vegetation
experiments.

Building Construction is one of the vocational courses offered in Vocational Education structure. There are four dimension of learning styles proposed by Felder and Silverman intended to capture student learning preferences with regards to processing either active or reflective, perception based on sensing or intuitive, input of information used visual or verbal and understanding information represent with sequential or global learner. Felder-Solomon Learning Styles Index was developed based on FSLSM and the questions were used to identify what type of student learning preferences. The index consists 44 item-questions characterize for learning styles dimension in FSLSM. The achievement test was developed to determine the students’ cognitive abilities. The quantitative data was analyzed in descriptive and inferential statistic involving Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The study discovered students are tending to be visual learners and each type of learner having significant difference whereas cognitive abilities there are different finding for each type of learners in knowledge, skills and problem solving. This study concludes the gap between type of learner and the cognitive abilities in few illustrations and it explained how the connecting made. The finding may help teachers to facilitate students more effectively and to boost the student’s cognitive abilities.
Abstract: Although a lot of importance has been given to resistance analysis for various vessel types, explicit guidelines applied to multihull vessels have not been clearly defined. The purpose of this investigation is to highlight the importance of the vessel’s layout in terms of three axes, the transverse (separation), the longitudinal (stagger) and the vertical (draught) with respect to resistance analysis. When a vessel has the potential to experience less resistance at a particular range of speeds a vast selection of opportunities are made available for both the commercial and leisure market.
Abstract: Extreme rainfall frequency analysis for Meteorological Sub-Division 4 of India was analyzed using L-moments approach. Serial Correlation and Mann Kendall tests were conducted for checking serially independent and stationarity of the observations. The discordancy measure for the sites was conducted to detect the discordant sites. The regional homogeneity was tested by comparing with 500 generated homogeneous regions using a 4 parameter Kappa distribution. The best fit distribution was selected based on ZDIST statistics and L-moments ratio diagram from the five extreme value distributions GPD, GLO, GEV, P3 and LP3. The LN3 distribution was selected and regional rainfall frequency relationship was established using index-rainfall procedure. A regional mean rainfall relationship was developed using multiple linear regression with latitude and longitude of the sites as variables.
Abstract: Wavelet analysis has some strong advantages over Fourier analysis, as it allows a time-frequency domain analysis, allowing optimal resolution and flexibility. As a result, they have been satisfactorily applied in almost all the fields of communication systems including OFDM which is a strong candidate for next generation of wireless technology. In this paper, the performances of wavelet based Multiuser Multiple Input and Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MU-MIMO OFDM) systems are analyzed in terms of BER. It has been shown that the wavelet based systems outperform the classical FFT based systems. This analysis also unfolds an interesting result, where wavelet based OFDM system will have a constant error performance using Regularized Channel Inversion (RCI) beamforming for any number of users, and outperforms in all possible scenario in a multiuser environment. An extensive computer simulations show that a PAPR reduction of up to 6.8dB can be obtained with M=64.
Abstract: The tension leg platform (TLP) is one of the compliant structures which are generally used for deep water oil exploration. With respect to the horizontal degrees of freedom, it behaves like a floating structure moored by vertical tethers which are pretension due to the excess buoyancy of the platform, whereas with respect to the vertical degrees of freedom, it is stiff and resembles a fixed structure and is not allowed to float freely. In the current study, a numerical study for square TLP using modified Morison equation was carried out in the time domain with water particle kinematics using Airy’s linear wave theory to investigate the effect of changing the tether tension force on the stiffness matrix of TLP's, the dynamic behavior of TLP's; and on the fatigue stresses in the cables. The effect was investigated for different parameters of the hydrodynamic forces such as wave periods, and wave heights. The numerical study takes into consideration the effect of coupling between various degrees of freedom. The stiffness of the TLP was derived from a combination of hydrostatic restoring forces and restoring forces due to cables. Nonlinear equation was solved using Newmark’s beta integration method. Only uni-directional waves in the surge direction was considered in the analysis. It was found that for short wave periods (i.e. 10 sec.), the surge response consisted of small amplitude oscillations about a displaced position that is significantly dependent on tether tension force, wave height; whereas for longer wave periods, the surge response showed high amplitude oscillations that is significantly dependent on wave height, and that special attention should be given to tethers fatigue because of their high tensile static and dynamic stress.
