Abstract: In this paper, we introduce GODYS-PC software
package for modeling, simulating and analyzing dynamic systems.
To illustrate the use of GODYS-PC we present a few examples
which concern modeling and simulating of engineering systems. In
order to compare GODYS-PC with widely used in academia and
industry Simulink®, the same examples are provided both in
GODYS-PC and Simulink®.
Abstract: The major part of light weight timber constructions
consists of insulation. Mineral wool is the most commonly used
insulation due to its cost efficiency and easy handling. The fiber
orientation and porosity of this insulation material enables flowthrough.
The air flow resistance is low. If leakage occurs in the
insulated bay section, the convective flow may cause energy losses
and infiltration of the exterior wall with moisture and particles. In
particular the infiltrated moisture may lead to thermal bridges and
growth of health endangering mould and mildew. In order to prevent
this problem, different numerical calculation models have been
developed. All models developed so far have a potential for
completion. The implementation of the flow-through properties of
mineral wool insulation may help to improve the existing models.
Assuming that the real pressure difference between interior and
exterior surface is larger than the prescribed pressure difference in the
standard test procedure for mineral wool ISO 9053 / EN 29053,
measurements were performed using the measurement setup for
research on convective moisture transfer “MSRCMT".
These measurements show, that structural inhomogeneities of
mineral wool effect the permeability only at higher pressure
differences, as applied in MSRCMT. Additional microscopic
investigations show, that the location of a leak within the
construction has a crucial influence on the air flow-through and the
infiltration rate. The results clearly indicate that the empirical values
for the acoustic resistance of mineral wool should not be used for the
calculation of convective transfer mechanisms.
Abstract: Reducing the risk of information leaks is one of
the most important functions of identity management systems. To
achieve this purpose, Dey et al. have already proposed an account
management method for a federated login system using a blind
signature scheme. In order to ensure account anonymity for the
authentication provider, referred to as an IDP (identity provider),
a blind signature scheme is utilized to generate an authentication
token on an authentication service and the token is sent to an IDP.
However, there is a problem with the proposed system. Malicious
users can establish multiple accounts on an IDP by requesting such
accounts. As a measure to solve this problem, in this paper, the
authors propose an account checking method that is performed before
account generation.
Abstract: In the area where the high quality water is not
available, unconventional water sources are used to irrigate.
Household leachate is one of the sources which are used in dry and
semi dry areas in order to water the barer trees and plants. It meets
the plants needs and also has some effects on the soil, but at the same
time it might cause some problems as well. This study in order to
evaluate the effect of using Compost leachate on the density of soil
iron in form of a statistical pattern called ''Split Plot'' by using two
main treatments, one subsidiary treatment and three repetitions of the
pattern in a three month period. The main N treatments include:
irrigation using well water as a blank treatments and the main I
treatments include: irrigation using leachate and well water
concurrently. Some subsidiary treatments were DI (Drop Irrigation)
and SDI (Sub Drop Irrigation). Then in the established plots, 36
biannual pine and cypress shrubs were randomly grown. Two months
later the treatment begins. The results revealed that there was a
significant variation between the main treatment and the instance
regarding pH decline in the soil which was related to the amount of
leachate injected into the soil. After some time and using leachate the
pH level fell, as much as 0.46 and also increased due to the great
amounts of leachate. The underneath drop irrigation ends in better
results than sub drop irrigation since it keeps the soil texture fixed.
Abstract: This paper presents an exact analytical model for
optimizing stability of thin-walled, composite, functionally graded
pipes conveying fluid. The critical flow velocity at which divergence
occurs is maximized for a specified total structural mass in order to
ensure the economic feasibility of the attained optimum designs. The
composition of the material of construction is optimized by defining
the spatial distribution of volume fractions of the material
constituents using piecewise variations along the pipe length. The
major aim is to tailor the material distribution in the axial direction so
as to avoid the occurrence of divergence instability without the
penalty of increasing structural mass. Three types of boundary
conditions have been examined; namely, Hinged-Hinged, Clamped-
Hinged and Clamped-Clamped pipelines. The resulting optimization
problem has been formulated as a nonlinear mathematical
programming problem solved by invoking the MatLab optimization
toolbox routines, which implement constrained function
minimization routine named “fmincon" interacting with the
associated eigenvalue problem routines. In fact, the proposed
mathematical models have succeeded in maximizing the critical flow
velocity without mass penalty and producing efficient and economic
designs having enhanced stability characteristics as compared with
the baseline designs.
Abstract: This paper is to develop a fuzzy net present value (FNPV) method by taking vague cash flow and imprecise required rate of return into account for evaluating the value of the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) sport facilities. In order to clearly manifest a more realistic capital budgeting model based on the classical net present value (NPV) method, some uncertain financial elements in NPV formula will be fuzzified as triangular fuzzy numbers. Through the conscientious manipulation of fuzzy set theory, we will find that the proposed FNPV model is a more explicit extension of classical (crisp) model and could be more practicable for the financial managers to capture the essence of capital budgeting of sport facilities than non-fuzzy model.
Abstract: Network reconfiguration in distribution system is realized by changing the status of sectionalizing switches to reduce the power loss in the system. This paper presents a new method which applies an artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) for determining the sectionalizing switch to be operated in order to solve the distribution system loss minimization problem. The ABC algorithm is a new population based metaheuristic approach inspired by intelligent foraging behavior of honeybee swarm. The advantage of ABC algorithm is that it does not require external parameters such as cross over rate and mutation rate as in case of genetic algorithm and differential evolution and it is hard to determine these parameters in prior. The other advantage is that the global search ability in the algorithm is implemented by introducing neighborhood source production mechanism which is a similar to mutation process. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm, computer simulations are carried out on 14, 33, and 119-bus systems and compared with different approaches available in the literature. The proposed method has outperformed the other methods in terms of the quality of solution and computational efficiency.
Abstract: Data mining uses a variety of techniques each of which is useful for some particular task. It is important to have a deep understanding of each technique and be able to perform sophisticated analysis. In this article we describe a tool built to simulate a variation of the Kohonen network to perform unsupervised clustering and support the entire data mining process up to results visualization. A graphical representation helps the user to find out a strategy to optmize classification by adding, moving or delete a neuron in order to change the number of classes. The tool is also able to automatically suggest a strategy for number of classes optimization. The tool is used to classify macroeconomic data that report the most developed countries? import and export. It is possible to classify the countries based on their economic behaviour and use an ad hoc tool to characterize the commercial behaviour of a country in a selected class from the analysis of positive and negative features that contribute to classes formation.
Abstract: We have previously introduced an ultrasonic imaging
approach that combines harmonic-sensitive pulse sequences with a
post-beamforming quadratic kernel derived from a second-order
Volterra filter (SOVF). This approach is designed to produce images
with high sensitivity to nonlinear oscillations from microbubble
ultrasound contrast agents (UCA) while maintaining high levels of
noise rejection. In this paper, a two-step algorithm for computing the
coefficients of the quadratic kernel leading to reduction of tissue
component introduced by motion, maximizing the noise rejection and
increases the specificity while optimizing the sensitivity to the UCA
is presented. In the first step, quadratic kernels from individual
singular modes of the PI data matrix are compared in terms of their
ability of maximize the contrast to tissue ratio (CTR). In the second
step, quadratic kernels resulting in the highest CTR values are
convolved. The imaging results indicate that a signal processing
approach to this clinical challenge is feasible.
Abstract: This paper discusses the designing of knowledge
integration of clinical information extracted from distributed medical
ontologies in order to ameliorate a machine learning-based multilabel
coding assignment system. The proposed approach is
implemented using a decision tree technique of the machine learning
on the university hospital data for patients with Coronary Heart
Disease (CHD). The preliminary results obtained show a satisfactory
finding that the use of medical ontologies improves the overall
system performance.

Abstract: Information sharing and exchange, rather than
information processing, is what characterizes information
technology in the 21st century. Ontologies, as shared common
understanding, gain increasing attention, as they appear as the
most promising solution to enable information sharing both at
a semantic level and in a machine-processable way. Domain
Ontology-based modeling has been exploited to provide
shareability and information exchange among diversified,
heterogeneous applications of enterprises.
Contextual ontologies are “an explicit specification of
contextual conceptualization". That is: ontology is
characterized by concepts that have multiple representations
and they may exist in several contexts. Hence, contextual
ontologies are a set of concepts and relationships, which are
seen from different perspectives. Contextualization is to allow
for ontologies to be partitioned according to their contexts.
The need for contextual ontologies in enterprise modeling
has become crucial due to the nature of today's competitive
market. Information resources in enterprise is distributed and
diversified and is in need to be shared and communicated
locally through the intranet and globally though the internet.
This paper discusses the roles that ontologies play in an
enterprise modeling, and how ontologies assist in building a
conceptual model in order to provide communicative and
interoperable information systems. The issue of enterprise
modeling based on contextual domain ontology is also
investigated, and a framework is proposed for an enterprise
model that consists of various applications.
Abstract: This study was carried out in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, in order to determine how people living in the slums of Ankara benefit from educational equality. Within the scope of the research, interviews were made with 64 families whose children have been getting education from the primary schools of these parts and the data of the study was collected by the researcher. The results of the research demonstrate that the children getting education in the slums of Ankara can not experience educational equality and justice. The results of this study show that the opportunities of the schools in the slums of Ankara are very limited, so the individuals in these districts can not equally benefit from the education. The families are aware of the problem they are faced with. KeywordsDiscrimination, inequality, primary education, slums of Turkey.
Abstract: Work stress causes the organizational work-life
imbalance of employees. Because of this imbalance, workers perform
with lower effort to finish assignments and thus an organization will
experience reduced productivity. In order to investigate the problem
of an organizational work-life imbalance, this qualitative case study
focuses on an organizational work-life imbalance among Thai
software developers in a German-owned company in Chiang Mai,
Thailand. In terms of knowledge management, fishbone diagram is
useful analysis tool to investigate the root causes of an organizational
work-life imbalance systematically in focus-group discussions.
Furthermore, fishbone diagram shows the relationship between
causes and effects clearly. It was found that an organizational worklife
imbalance among Thai software developers is influenced by
management team, work environment, and information tools used in
the company over time.
Abstract: Logistics is part of the supply chain processes that plans, implements, and controls the efficient and effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customer requirements. This research aims to investigate the current status and future direction of the use of Information Technology (IT) for logistics, focusing on Supply Chain Management (SCM) and E-Commerce adoption in Johor. Therefore, this research stresses on the type of technology being adopted, factors, benefits and barriers affecting the innovation in SCM and ECommerce technology adoption among Logistics Service Providers (LSP). A mailed questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data from 265 logistics companies in Johor. The research revealed that SCM technology adoption among LSP was higher as they had adopted SCM technology in various business processes while they perceived a high level of benefits from SCM adoption. Obviously, ECommerce technology adoption among LSP is relatively low.
Abstract: Due to the complex network architecture, the mobile
adhoc network-s multihop feature gives additional problems to the
users. When the traffic load at each node gets increased, the
additional contention due its traffic pattern might cause the nodes
which are close to destination to starve the nodes more away from the
destination and also the capacity of network is unable to satisfy the
total user-s demand which results in an unfairness problem. In this
paper, we propose to create an algorithm to compute the optimal
MAC-layer bandwidth assigned to each flow in the network. The
bottleneck links contention area determines the fair time share which
is necessary to calculate the maximum allowed transmission rate used
by each flow. To completely utilize the network resources, we
compute two optimal rates namely, the maximum fair share and
minimum fair share. We use the maximum fair share achieved in
order to limit the input rate of those flows which crosses the
bottleneck links contention area when the flows that are not allocated
to the optimal transmission rate and calculate the following highest
fair share. Through simulation results, we show that the proposed
protocol achieves improved fair share and throughput with reduced
delay.
Abstract: Recently studies in area of supply chain network
(SCN) have focused on the disruption issues in distribution systems.
Also this paper extends the previous literature by providing a new biobjective
model for cost minimization of designing a three echelon
SCN across normal and failure scenarios with considering multi
capacity option for manufacturers and distribution centers. Moreover,
in order to solve the problem by means of LINGO software, novel
model will be reformulated through a branch of LP-Metric method
called Min-Max approach.
Abstract: Obfuscation is a low cost software protection
methodology to avoid reverse engineering and re engineering of
applications. Source code obfuscation aims in obscuring the source
code to hide the functionality of the codes. This paper proposes an
Array data transformation in order to obfuscate the source code
which uses arrays. The applications using the proposed data
structures force the programmer to obscure the logic manually. It
makes the developed obscured codes hard to reverse engineer and
also protects the functionality of the codes.
Abstract: Recently, neural networks have shown good
results for detection of a certain pattern in a given image. In
our previous papers [1-5], a fast algorithm for pattern
detection using neural networks was presented. Such
algorithm was designed based on cross correlation in the
frequency domain between the input image and the weights
of neural networks. Image conversion into symmetric shape
was established so that fast neural networks can give the
same results as conventional neural networks. Another
configuration of symmetry was suggested in [3,4] to improve
the speed up ratio. In this paper, our previous algorithm for
fast neural networks is developed. The frequency domain
cross correlation is modified in order to compensate for the
symmetric condition which is required by the input image.
Two new ideas are introduced to modify the cross correlation
algorithm. Both methods accelerate the speed of the fast
neural networks as there is no need for converting the input
image into symmetric one as previous. Theoretical and
practical results show that both approaches provide faster
speed up ratio than the previous algorithm.
Abstract: Buildings and associated construction methods have a significant impact on the environment. As construction activity increases in Kuwait, there is a need to create design and construction strategies which will minimize the environmental impact of new buildings. Green construction is a design philosophy intended to improve the sustainability of construction by the minimization of resource depletion and CO2 emissions throughout the life cycle of buildings. This paper presents and discusses the results of a survey that was conducted in Kuwait, with the objective of investigating the awareness of developers and other stakeholders regarding their understanding and use of green construction strategies. The results of the survey demonstrate that whilst there seems to be a reasonable level of awareness amongst the stakeholders, this awareness is not currently well reflected in the design and construction practices actually being applied. It is therefore concluded is there is a pressing need for intervention from Government in order that the use of sustainable green design and construction strategies becomes the norm in Kuwait.
