Abstract: While the explosive increase in information published
on the Web, researchers have to filter information when searching for
conference related information. To make it easier for users to search
related information, this paper uses Topic Maps and social information
to implement ontology since ontology can provide the formalisms and
knowledge structuring for comprehensive and transportable machine
understanding that digital information requires. Besides enhancing
information in Topic Maps, this paper proposes a method of
constructing research Topic Maps considering social information.
First, extract conference data from the web. Then extract conference
topics and the relationships between them through the proposed
method. Finally visualize it for users to search and browse. This paper
uses ontology, containing abundant of knowledge hierarchy structure,
to facilitate researchers getting useful search results. However, most
previous ontology construction methods didn-t take “people" into
account. So this paper also analyzes the social information which helps
researchers find the possibilities of cooperation/combination as well as
associations between research topics, and tries to offer better results.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with exponential stability and stabilization of switched linear systems with interval time-varying delays. The time delay is any continuous function belonging to a given interval, in which the lower bound of delay is not restricted to zero. By constructing a suitable augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional combined with Leibniz-Newton-s formula, a switching rule for the exponential stability and stabilization of switched linear systems with interval time-varying delays and new delay-dependent sufficient conditions for the exponential stability and stabilization of the systems are first established in terms of LMIs. Numerical examples are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the results.
Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of how one can
improve the performance of a non-optimal filter. First the theoretical question on dynamical representation for a given time correlated
random process is studied. It will be demonstrated that for a wide class of random processes, having a canonical form, there exists
a dynamical system equivalent in the sense that its output has the
same covariance function. It is shown that the dynamical approach is more effective for simulating and estimating a Markov and non-
Markovian random processes, computationally is less demanding,
especially with increasing of the dimension of simulated processes.
Numerical examples and estimation problems in low dimensional
systems are given to illustrate the advantages of the approach. A very useful application of the proposed approach is shown for the
problem of state estimation in very high dimensional systems. Here a modified filter for data assimilation in an oceanic numerical model
is presented which is proved to be very efficient due to introducing
a simple Markovian structure for the output prediction error process
and adaptive tuning some parameters of the Markov equation.
Abstract: This study presents an investigation of
electrochemical variables and an application of the optimal
parameters in operating a continuous upflow electrocoagulation
reactor in removing dye. Direct red 23, which is azo-based, was used
as a representative of direct dyes. First, a batch mode was employed
to optimize the design parameters: electrode type, electrode distance,
current density and electrocoagulation time. The optimal parameters
were found to be iron anode, distance between electrodes of 8 mm
and current density of 30 A·m-2 with contact time of 5 min. The
performance of the continuous upflow reactor with these parameters
was satisfactory, with >95% color removal and energy consumption
in the order of 0.6-0.7 kWh·m-3.
Abstract: Paper deals with the topic of questions as important
components of information behavior in the school. By analyzing the
Corpus Schola2010, the state of contemporary education in terms of
questioning is proven unsatisfactory: 80% of the questions are asked
by teachers; most of teacher-s questions are asked at the beginning of
the first grade, than their number decreases and is settling down on
80±10 questions per lesson. The average number of questions within
one lesson per one pupil is generally less than one whole question.
The highest values are achieved in the first, sixth, eighth and tenth
grade,, i.e. in the transition years in which pupils are moving into
higher levels of education and every following year it declines. We
can state Czech school do not support questioning and question skill
of their pupils, thereby typical Czech schools are neglecting the
development of thinking, reasoning and cooperation of their pupils.
Abstract: Surveillance system is widely used in the traffic
monitoring. The deployment of cameras is moving toward a
ubiquitous camera (UbiCam) environment. In our previous study, a
novel service, called GPS-VT, was firstly proposed by incorporating
global positioning system (GPS) and visual tracking techniques for
the UbiCam environment. The first prototype is called GODTA
(GPS-based Moving Object Detection and Tracking Approach). For a
moving person carried GPS-enabled mobile device, he can be
tracking when he enters the field-of-view (FOV) of a camera
according to his real-time GPS coordinate. In this paper, GPS-VT
service is applied to the tracking of vehicles. The moving speed of a
vehicle is much faster than a person. It means that the time passing
through the FOV is much shorter than that of a person. Besides, the
update interval of GPS coordinate is once per second, it is
asynchronous with the frame rate of the real-time image. The above
asynchronous is worsen by the network transmission delay. These
factors are the main challenging to fulfill GPS-VT service on a
vehicle. In order to overcome the influence of the above factors, a
back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is used to predict the
possible lane before the vehicle enters the FOV of a camera. Then, a
template matching technique is used for the visual tracking of a target
vehicle. The experimental result shows that the target vehicle can be
located and tracking successfully. The success location rate of the
implemented prototype is higher than that of the previous GODTA.
Abstract: Service trade is an important force of influencing economic development. A review on the related literatures is done firstly. Then through the construction of a Diamond Model, the main factors which influence the competitiveness of Chinese service trade are determined. With three competitiveness indexes served as the reference series respectively, the influencing factors served as the comparable series, three grey incidence models are then built up to conduct an empirical analysis on the main factors influencing the competitiveness of service trade after China entering WTO. The result indicates that urbanization level, open degree of service industry and foreign direct investment have larger impacts on Chinese service trade competitiveness, followed in turn by GDP in service industry and human capital, while commodity trade has the minimum impact. Further discussion provides train of thought for the upgrade of Chinese service trade competitiveness.
Abstract: This work presents the first results from the long-term experiment, which is focused on the impact of intensive rainfall and long period of drought on microbial activities in soil. Fifteen lysimeters were prepared in the area of our interest. This area is a protection zone of underground source of drinking water. These lysimeters were filed with topsoil and subsoil collected in this area and divided into two groups. These groups differ in fertilization and amount of water received during the growing season. Amount of microbial biomass and leaching of mineral nitrogen and phosphates were chosen as main indicators of microbial activities in soil. Content of mineral nitrogen and phosphates was measured in soil solution, which was collected from each lysimeters. Amount of microbial biomass was determined in soil samples that were taken from the lysimeters before and after the long period of drought and intensive rainfall.
Abstract: XML data consists of a very flexible tree-structure
which makes it difficult to support the storing and retrieving of XML
data. The node numbering scheme is one of the most popular
approaches to store XML in relational databases. Together with the
node numbering storage scheme, structural joins can be used to
efficiently process the hierarchical relationships in XML. However, in
order to process a tree-structured XPath query containing several
hierarchical relationships and conditional sentences on XML data,
many structural joins need to be carried out, which results in a high
query execution cost. This paper introduces mechanisms to reduce the
XPath queries including branch nodes into a much more efficient form
with less numbers of structural joins. A two step approach is proposed.
The first step merges duplicate nodes in the tree-structured query and
the second step divides the query into sub-queries, shortens the paths
and then merges the sub-queries back together. The proposed
approach can highly contribute to the efficient execution of XML
queries. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can
reduce the query execution cost by up to an order of magnitude of the
original execution cost.
Abstract: We study the possibility of using geometric operators
in the selection of human resources. We develop three new methods
that use the ordered weighted geometric (OWG) operator in different
indexes used for the selection of human resources. The objective of
these models is to manipulate the neutrality of the old methods so the
decision maker is able to select human resources according to his
particular attitude. In order to develop these models, first a short
revision of the OWG operator is developed. Second, we briefly
explain the general process for the selection of human resources.
Then, we develop the three new indexes. They will use the OWG
operator in the Hamming distance, in the adequacy coefficient and in
the index of maximum and minimum level. Finally, an illustrative
example about the new approach is given.
Abstract: In this paper, the vessel inscribed trigonometry (VITM) for the vessel progression orientation (VPO) is proposed in the two-dimensional fundus image. The VPO is a major factor in the optic disc (OD) detection which is a basic process in the retina analysis. To measure the VPO, skeletons of vessel are used. First, the vessels are classified into three classes as vessel end, vessel branch and vessel stem. And the chain code maps of VS are generated. Next, two farthest neighborhoods of each point on VS are searched by the proposed angle restriction. Lastly, a gradient of the straight line between two farthest neighborhoods is estimated to measure the VPO. VITM is validated by comparing with manual results and 2D Gaussian templates. It is confirmed that VPO of the proposed mensuration is correct enough to detect OD from the results of experiment which applied VITM to detect OD in fundus images.
Abstract: A first intermediate roll of Sendzirmir mills was failure
by surface spalling during operation. After analyzing by visual, stereo
microscope, optical microscope, scanning electron microscope,
glow-discharged spectrometer and hardness test, respectively, the
results show that some voids and cracks existed on the contact surface
as well as subsurface. Further examination verified inadequate
hardness and inclusions were responsible for the failure of surface
spalling.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose improved versions of DVHop
algorithm as QDV-Hop algorithm and UDV-Hop algorithm for
better localization without the need for additional range measurement
hardware. The proposed algorithm focuses on third step of DV-Hop,
first error terms from estimated distances between unknown node and
anchor nodes is separated and then minimized. In the QDV-Hop
algorithm, quadratic programming is used to minimize the error to
obtain better localization. However, quadratic programming requires
a special optimization tool box that increases computational
complexity. On the other hand, UDV-Hop algorithm achieves
localization accuracy similar to that of QDV-Hop by solving
unconstrained optimization problem that results in solving a system
of linear equations without much increase in computational
complexity. Simulation results show that the performance of our
proposed schemes (QDV-Hop and UDV-Hop) is superior to DV-Hop
and DV-Hop based algorithms in all considered scenarios.
Abstract: We report in this paper the procedure of a system of
automatic speech recognition based on techniques of the dynamic
programming. The technique of temporal retiming is a technique
used to synchronize between two forms to compare. We will see how
this technique is adapted to the field of the automatic speech
recognition. We will expose, in a first place, the theory of the
function of retiming which is used to compare and to adjust an
unknown form with a whole of forms of reference constituting the
vocabulary of the application. Then we will give, in the second place,
the various algorithms necessary to their implementation on machine.
The algorithms which we will present were tested on part of the
corpus of words in Arab language Arabdic-10 [4] and gave whole
satisfaction. These algorithms are effective insofar as we apply them
to the small ones or average vocabularies.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the production of an Arabic word semantic similarity benchmark dataset. It is the first of its kind for Arabic which was particularly developed to assess the accuracy of word semantic similarity measurements. Semantic similarity is an essential component to numerous applications in fields such as natural language processing, artificial intelligence, linguistics, and psychology. Most of the reported work has been done for English. To the best of our knowledge, there is no word similarity measure developed specifically for Arabic. In this paper, an Arabic benchmark dataset of 70 word pairs is presented. New methods and best possible available techniques have been used in this study to produce the Arabic dataset. This includes selecting and creating materials, collecting human ratings from a representative sample of participants, and calculating the overall ratings. This dataset will make a substantial contribution to future work in the field of Arabic WSS and hopefully it will be considered as a reference basis from which to evaluate and compare different methodologies in the field.
Abstract: Image interpolation is a common problem in imaging applications. However, most interpolation algorithms in existence suffer visually to some extent the effects of blurred edges and jagged artifacts in the image. This paper presents an adaptive feature preserving bidirectional flow process, where an inverse diffusion is performed to enhance edges along the normal directions to the isophote lines (edges), while a normal diffusion is done to remove artifacts (''jaggies'') along the tangent directions. In order to preserve image features such as edges, angles and textures, the nonlinear diffusion coefficients are locally adjusted according to the first and second order directional derivatives of the image. Experimental results on synthetic images and nature images demonstrate that our interpolation algorithm substantially improves the subjective quality of the interpolated images over conventional interpolations.
Abstract: Edge detection is usually the first step in medical
image processing. However, the difficulty increases when a
conventional kernel-based edge detector is applied to ultrasonic
images with a textural pattern and speckle noise. We designed an
adaptive diffusion filter to remove speckle noise while preserving the
initial edges detected by using a Sobel edge detector. We also propose
a genetic algorithm for edge selection to form complete boundaries of
the detected entities. We designed two fitness functions to evaluate
whether a criterion with a complex edge configuration can render a
better result than a simple criterion such as the strength of gradient.
The edges obtained by using a complex fitness function are thicker and
more fragmented than those obtained by using a simple fitness
function, suggesting that a complex edge selecting scheme is not
necessary for good edge detection in medical ultrasonic images;
instead, a proper noise-smoothing filter is the key.
Abstract: Network reconfiguration is an operation to modify the
network topology. The implementation of network reconfiguration
has many advantages such as loss minimization, increasing system
security and others. In this paper, two topics about the network
reconfiguration in distribution system are briefly described. The first
topic summarizes its impacts while the second explains some
heuristic optimization techniques for solving the network
reconfiguration problem.
Abstract: An analysis of a synchronous generator in a bond
graph approach is proposed. This bond graph allows to determine the
simplified models of the system by using singular perturbations.
Firstly, the nonlinear bond graph of the generator is linearized. Then,
the slow and fast state equations by applying singular perturbations
are obtained. Also, a bond graph to get the quasi-steady state of the
slow dynamic is proposed. In order to verify the effectiveness of the
singularly perturbed models, simulation results of the complete
system and reduced models are shown.
Abstract: The alumosilicate ceramics with mullite crystalline phase are used in various branches of science and technique. The mullite refractory ceramics with high porosity serve as a heat insulator and as a constructional materials [1], [2]. The purpose of the work was to sinter high porosity ceramic and to increase the quantity of mullite phase in this mullite, mullite-corundum ceramics. Two types of compositions were prepared at during the experiment. The first type is compositions with commercial alumina and silica oxides. The second type is from mixing these oxides with 10, 20 and 30 wt.%. of kaolin. In all samples the Al2O3 and SiO2 were in 2.57:1 ratio, because that was conformed to mullite stechiometric compositions (3Al2O3.2SiO2). The types of alumina oxides were α-Al2O3 (d50=4µm) and γ-Al2O3 (d50=80µm). Ratios of α-: γ-Al2O3 were (1:1) or (1:3). The porous materials were prepared by slip casting of suspension of raw materials. The aluminium paste (0.18 wt.%) was used as a pore former. Water content in the suspensions was 26-47 wt.%. Pore formation occurred as a result of hydrogen formation in chemical reaction between aluminium paste and water [2]. The samples were sintered at the temperature of 1650°C and 1750°C for one hour. The increasing amount of kaolin, α-: γ-Al2O3 at the ratio (1:3) and sintering at the highest temperature raised the quantity of mullite phase. The mullite phase began to dominate over the corundum phase.
