Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to guide the effort in
improving the economic added value of Indonesian fisheries product
through post fishing program, which is cold storage program.
Indonesia's fisheries potential has been acknowledged by the world.
FAO (2009) stated that Indonesia is one of the tenth highest
producers of fishery products in the world. Based on BPS (Statistics
Indonesia data), the national fisheries production in 2011 reached
5.714 million tons, which 93.55% came from marine fisheries and
6.45% from open waters. Indonesian territory consist of 2/3 of
Indonesian waters, has given enormous benefits for Indonesia,
especially fishermen. To improve the economic level of fishermen
requires efforts to develop fisheries business unit. On of the efforts is
by improving the quality of products which are marketed in the
regional and international levels. It is certainly need the support of
the existence of various fishery facilities (infrastructure to
superstructure), one of which is cold storage. Given the many
benefits of cold storage as a means of processing of fishery resources,
Indonesia Maritime Security Coordinating Board (IMSCB) as one of
the maritime institutions for maritime security and safety, has a
program to empower the coastal community through encourages the
development of cold storage in the middle and lower fishery business
unit. The development of cold storage facilities which able to run its
maximum role requires synergistic efforts of various parties.
Abstract: The one of most important objects in implementation
of damage analysis observations is manner of dam break wave
propagation. In this paper velocity and wave height due dam break in
with and without tailwater states for appointment hazardous lands
and flood radius are investigate. In order to modeling above
phenomenon finite volume method of Roe type for solving shallow
water equations is used. Results indicated that in the dry bed state
risk radius due to dam break is too high. While in the wet bed risk
radius has a less wide. Therefore in the first state constructions and
storage facilities are encountered with destruction risk. Further
velocity due to dam break in the second state is more comparing to
the first state. Hence erosion and scour the river bed in the dry bed is
too more compare to the wet bed.
Abstract: The balance between nitrogen loading and runoff in the
forested headwater streams of the Kanna River was estimated to
elucidate the current status of nitrogen saturation in a forested
watershed. NO3-N concentration in the study area was far higher than
the average value in Japan. Estimated nitrogen runoff accounted for
55–57% of nitrogen loading; suggesting that the forest-s nitrogen
retention capacity is most likely in decline. Since the 1970s, Japan-s
forestry industry has been declining due to the decrease in lumber
demand and increase in cheap imported materials. Thus, this decline
will contribute significantly to further reducing nitrogen saturation in
forest ecosystems.
Abstract: With the proliferation of Weblogs (blogs) use in
educational contexts, gaining a better understanding of why
students are willing to utilize blog systems has become an
important topic for practitioners and academics. While perceived
enjoyment has been found to have a significant influence on
behavioral intentions to use blogs or hedonic systems, few studies
have investigated the antecedents of perceived enjoyment in the
acceptance of blogging. The main purpose of the present study is to
explore the individual difference antecedents of perceived
enjoyment and examine how they influence behavioral intention to
blog through the mediation of perceived enjoyment. Based on the
previous literature, the Big Five personality traits (i.e.,
extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and
openness to experience), as well as computer self-efficacy and
personal innovation in information technology (PIIT), are
hypothesized as potential antecedents of perceived enjoyment in
the acceptance of blogging. Data collected from 358 respondents in
Taiwan are tested against the research model using the structural
equation modeling approach. The results indicate that extraversion,
agreeableness, conscientiousness, and PIIT have a significant
influence on perceived enjoyment, which in turn significantly
influences the behavioral intention to blog. These findings lead to
several important implications for future research.

Abstract: Recognizing human action from videos is an active
field of research in computer vision and pattern recognition. Human
activity recognition has many potential applications such as video
surveillance, human machine interaction, sport videos retrieval and
robot navigation. Actually, local descriptors and bag of visuals words
models achieve state-of-the-art performance for human action
recognition. The main challenge in features description is how to
represent efficiently the local motion information. Most of the
previous works focus on the extension of 2D local descriptors on 3D
ones to describe local information around every interest point. In this
paper, we propose a new spatio-temporal descriptor based on a spacetime
description of moving points. Our description is focused on an
Accordion representation of video which is well-suited to recognize
human action from 2D local descriptors without the need to 3D
extensions. We use the bag of words approach to represent videos.
We quantify 2D local descriptor describing both temporal and spatial
features with a good compromise between computational complexity
and action recognition rates. We have reached impressive results on
publicly available action data set
Abstract: Optical network uses a tool for routing called Latin
router. These routers use particular algorithms for routing. For
example, we can refer to LDF algorithm that uses backtracking (one
of CSP methods) for problem solving. In this paper, we proposed
new approached for completion routing table (DRA&CRA
algorithm) and compare with pervious proposed ways and showed
numbers of backtracking, blocking and run time for DRA algorithm
less than LDF and CRA algorithm.
Abstract: To produce sugar and ethanol, sugarcane processing
generates several agricultural residues, being straw and bagasse is
considered as the main among them. And what to do with this
residues has been subject of many studies and experiences in an
industry that, in recent years, highlighted by the ability to transform
waste into valuable products such as electric power. Cellulose is the
main component of these materials. It is the most common organic
polymer and represents about 1.5 x 1012 tons of total production of
biomass per year and is considered an almost inexhaustible source of
raw material. Pretreatment with mineral acids is one of the most
widely used as stage of cellulose extraction from lignocellulosic
materials for solubilizing most of the hemicellulose content. This
study had as goal to find the best reaction time of sugarcane bagasse
pretreatment with sulfuric acid in order to minimize the losses of
cellulose concomitantly with the highest possible removal of
hemicellulose and lignin. It was found that the best time for this
reaction was 40 minutes, in which it was reached a loss of
hemicelluloses around 70% and lignin and cellulose, around 15%.
Over this time, it was verified that the cellulose loss increased and
there was no loss of lignin and hemicellulose.
Abstract: This paper studies mechanical buckling of
functionally graded beams subjected to axial compressive load that is
simply supported at both ends lies on a continuous elastic foundation.
The displacement field of beam is assumed based on Engesser-Timoshenko beam theory. Applying the Hamilton's principle, the
equilibrium equation is established. The influences of dimensionless geometrical parameter, functionally graded index and foundation
coefficient on the critical buckling load of beam are presented. To investigate the accuracy of the present analysis, a compression study
is carried out with a known data.
Abstract: The main objective of this work is to compare the
quality of service of the bus companies operating in the city of Rio
Branco, located in the state of Acre with the quality of service of the
bus companies operating in the city of Campos, situated in the state
of Rio de Janeiro, both cities in Brazil. This comparison, based on the
opinion of the bus users, will determine their degree of satisfaction
with the service available in both cities. The outcome of this
evaluation shows the users unhappy with the quality of the service
provided by the bus companies operating in both cities and the need
to identify alternative solutions that may minimize the consequences
caused by the main problems detected in this work. With these
alternatives available, the bus companies will be able to better
understand the needs of their customers in terms of manpower,
service cost, time schedule, etc.
Abstract: Iris pattern is an important biological feature of human body; it becomes very hot topic in both research and practical applications. In this paper, an algorithm is proposed for iris recognition and a simple, efficient and fast method is introduced to extract a set of discriminatory features using first order gradient operator applied on grayscale images. The gradient based features are robust, up to certain extents, against the variations may occur in contrast or brightness of iris image samples; the variations are mostly occur due lightening differences and camera changes. At first, the iris region is located, after that it is remapped to a rectangular area of size 360x60 pixels. Also, a new method is proposed for detecting eyelash and eyelid points; it depends on making image statistical analysis, to mark the eyelash and eyelid as a noise points. In order to cover the features localization (variation), the rectangular iris image is partitioned into N overlapped sub-images (blocks); then from each block a set of different average directional gradient densities values is calculated to be used as texture features vector. The applied gradient operators are taken along the horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions. The low order norms of gradient components were used to establish the feature vector. Euclidean distance based classifier was used as a matching metric for determining the degree of similarity between the features vector extracted from the tested iris image and template features vectors stored in the database. Experimental tests were performed using 2639 iris images from CASIA V4-Interival database, the attained recognition accuracy has reached up to 99.92%.
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate multihop polling and data gathering schemes in layered sensor networks in order to extend the life time of the networks. A network consists of three layers. The lowest layer contains sensors. The middle layer contains so called super nodes with higher computational power, energy supply and longer transmission range than sensor nodes. The top layer contains a sink node. A node in each layer controls a number of nodes in lower layer by polling mechanism to gather data. We will present four types of data gathering schemes: intermediate nodes do not queue data packet, queue single packet, queue multiple packets and aggregate data, to see which data gathering scheme is more energy efficient for multihop polling in layered sensor networks.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the basic information and communication technology (ICT) skills that may be needed by students studying in the 8th grade of the primary education in their cooperative project works implemented via the Internet. Within the scope of the study, the curriculum used for European Computer Driving License (ECDL) and the curriculum used in Turkey are also compared in terms of the ability to use ICT, which is aimed to be provided to the students. The research population of the study, during which the pre test – post test control group experimental model was used, consisted of 40 students from three different schools. In the first stage of the study, the skills that might be needed by students for their cooperative project works implemented via the Internet were determined through examination of the completed Comenious, e – twinning and WorldLinks projects. In the second stage of the study, the curriculums of the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB) and ECDL were evaluated by seven different teachers in line with these skills. Also in this study the ECDL and MEB curriculums were compared in terms of capability to provide the skills to implement cooperative projects via the Internet. In line with the findings of the study, the skills that might be needed by students to implement cooperative projects via the Internet were outlined, and existence of a significant difference was established in favor of the ECDL curriculum upon comparison of both curriculums in accordance with this outline (U = 50,500; p
Abstract: Camera calibration is an important step in 3D
reconstruction. Camera calibration may be classified into two major types: traditional calibration and self-calibration. However, a calibration method in using a checkerboard is intermediate between traditional calibration and self-calibration. A self
is proposed based on a square in this paper. Only a square in the planar
template, the camera self-calibration can be completed through the single view. The proposed algorithm is that the virtual circle and straight line are established by a square on planar template, and
circular points, vanishing points in straight lines and the relation
between them are be used, in order to obtain the image of the absolute
conic (IAC) and establish the camera intrinsic parameters. To make
the calibration template is simpler, as compared with the Zhang Zhengyou-s method. Through real experiments and experiments, the experimental results show that this algorithm is
feasible and available, and has a certain precision and robustness.
Abstract: The job shop scheduling problem (JSSP) is a
notoriously difficult problem in combinatorial optimization. This
paper presents a hybrid artificial immune system for the JSSP with the
objective of minimizing makespan. The proposed approach combines
the artificial immune system, which has a powerful global exploration
capability, with the local search method, which can exploit the optimal
antibody. The antibody coding scheme is based on the operation based
representation. The decoding procedure limits the search space to the
set of full active schedules. In each generation, a local search heuristic
based on the neighborhood structure proposed by Nowicki and
Smutnicki is applied to improve the solutions. The approach is tested
on 43 benchmark problems taken from the literature and compared
with other approaches. The computation results validate the
effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Abstract: System MEMORI automatically detects and recognizes
rotated and/or rescaled versions of the objects of a database within
digital color images with cluttered background. This task is accomplished
by means of a region grouping algorithm guided by heuristic
rules, whose parameters concern some geometrical properties and the
recognition score of the database objects. This paper focuses on the
strategies implemented in MEMORI for the estimation of the heuristic
rule parameters. This estimation, being automatic, makes the system
a self configuring and highly user-friendly tool.
Abstract: The Indian subcontinent is facing a massive challenge with regards to the energy security in member countries, i.e. providing a reliable source of electricity to facilitate development across various sectors of the economy and thereby achieve the developmental targets it has set for itself. A highly precarious situation exists in the subcontinent which is observed in the series of system failures which most of the times leads to system collapses-blackouts. To mitigate the issues related with energy security as well as keep in check the increasing supply demand gap, a possible solution that stands in front of the subcontinent is the deployment of an interconnected electricity ‘Supergrid’ designed to carry huge quanta of power across the sub continent as well as provide the infra structure for RES integration. This paper assesses the need and conditions for a Supergrid deployment and consequently proposes a meshed topology based on VSC HVDC converters for the Supergrid modeling.
Abstract: This paper presents a new growing neural network for
cluster analysis and market segmentation, which optimizes the size
and structure of clusters by iteratively checking them for multivariate
normality. We combine the recently published SGNN approach [8]
with the basic principle underlying the Gaussian-means algorithm
[13] and the Mardia test for multivariate normality [18, 19]. The new
approach distinguishes from existing ones by its holistic design and
its great autonomy regarding the clustering process as a whole. Its
performance is demonstrated by means of synthetic 2D data and by
real lifestyle survey data usable for market segmentation.
Abstract: During last decades, developing multi-objective
evolutionary algorithms for optimization problems has found
considerable attention. Flexible job shop scheduling problem, as an
important scheduling optimization problem, has found this attention
too. However, most of the multi-objective algorithms that are
developed for this problem use nonprofessional approaches. In
another words, most of them combine their objectives and then solve
multi-objective problem through single objective approaches. Of
course, except some scarce researches that uses Pareto-based
algorithms. Therefore, in this paper, a new Pareto-based algorithm
called controlled elitism non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm
(CENSGA) is proposed for the multi-objective FJSP (MOFJSP). Our
considered objectives are makespan, critical machine work load, and
total work load of machines. The proposed algorithm is also
compared with one the best Pareto-based algorithms of the literature
on some multi-objective criteria, statistically.
Abstract: The amount and heterogeneity of data in biomedical research, notably in interdisciplinary research, requires new methods for the collection, presentation and analysis of information. Important data from laboratory experiments as well as patient trials are available but come out of distributed resources. The Charite Medical School in Berlin has established together with the German Research Foundation (DFG) a new information service center for kidney diseases and transplantation (Open European Nephrology Science Centre - OpEN.SC). The system is based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA) with main and auxiliary modules arranged in four layers. To improve the reuse and efficient arrangement of the services the functionalities are described as business processes using the standardised Business Process Execution Language (BPEL).
