Abstract: Abstract–Let k ≥ 3 be an integer, and let G be a graph of order n with n ≥ 9k +3- 42(k - 1)2 + 2. Then a spanning subgraph F of G is called a k-factor if dF (x) = k for each x ∈ V (G). A fractional k-factor is a way of assigning weights to the edges of a graph G (with all weights between 0 and 1) such that for each vertex the sum of the weights of the edges incident with that vertex is k. A graph G is a fractional k-deleted graph if there exists a fractional k-factor after deleting any edge of G. In this paper, it is proved that G is a fractional k-deleted graph if G satisfies δ(G) ≥ k + 1 and |NG(x) ∪ NG(y)| ≥ 1 2 (n + k - 2) for each pair of nonadjacent vertices x, y of G.
Abstract: Energy Efficiency Management is the heart of a
worldwide problem. The capability of a multi-agent system as a
technology to manage the micro-grid operation has already been
proved. This paper deals with the implementation of a decisional
pattern applied to a multi-agent system which provides intelligence to
a distributed local energy network considered at local consumer level.
Development of multi-agent application involves agent
specifications, analysis, design, and realization. Furthermore, it can
be implemented by following several decisional patterns. The
purpose of present article is to suggest a new approach for a
decisional pattern involving a multi-agent system to control a
distributed local energy network in a decentralized competitive
system. The proposed solution is the result of a dichotomous
approach based on environment observation. It uses an iterative
process to solve automatic learning problems and converges
monotonically very fast to system attracting operation point.
Abstract: This study investigated the relationships between the
active learning strategies (discussion, video clips, game show, role–
play, five minute paper, clarification pauses, and small group) and
academic achievement among a sample of 158 undergraduate
psychology students in The University of the West Indies (UWI),
Barbados. Results revealed statistically significant positive
correlations between active learning strategies and students’
academic achievement; so also the active learning strategies
contributed 22% (Rsq=0.222) to the variance being accounted for in
academic achievement and this was found to be statistically
significant (F(7,150) = 6.12, p < .05). Additionally, group work
emerged as the best active learning strategy and had the highest
correlation with the students’ academic achievement. These results
were discussed in the light of the importance of the active learning
strategies promoting academic achievement among the university
students.
Abstract: For the communication between human and computer
in an interactive computing environment, the gesture recognition is
studied vigorously. Therefore, a lot of studies have proposed efficient
methods about the recognition algorithm using 2D camera captured
images. However, there is a limitation to these methods, such as the
extracted features cannot fully represent the object in real world.
Although many studies used 3D features instead of 2D features for
more accurate gesture recognition, the problem, such as the processing
time to generate 3D objects, is still unsolved in related researches.
Therefore we propose a method to extract the 3D features combined
with the 3D object reconstruction. This method uses the modified
GPU-based visual hull generation algorithm which disables unnecessary
processes, such as the texture calculation to generate three kinds
of 3D projection maps as the 3D feature: a nearest boundary, a farthest
boundary, and a thickness of the object projected on the base-plane. In
the section of experimental results, we present results of proposed
method on eight human postures: T shape, both hands up, right hand
up, left hand up, hands front, stand, sit and bend, and compare the
computational time of the proposed method with that of the previous
methods.
Abstract: A new and novel approach in medicine is the use of
cold plasma for various applications such as sterilization blood
coagulation and cancer cell treatment. In this paper a pin-to-hole
plasma jet suitable for biological applications is investigated and
characterized and the possibility and feasibility of cancer cell
treatment is evaluated. The characterization includes power
consumption via Lissajous method, thermal behavior of plasma using
Infra-red camera as a novel method, Optical Emission Spectroscopy
(OES) to determine the species that are generated. Treatment of
leukemia cancer cells is also implemented and MTT assay is used to
evaluate viability.
Abstract: Efficient handoff algorithms are a cost-effective way
of enhancing the capacity and QoS of cellular system. The higher
value of hysteresis effectively prevents unnecessary handoffs but
causes undesired cell dragging. This undesired cell dragging causes
interference or could lead to dropped calls in microcellular
environment. The problems are further exacerbated by the corner
effect phenomenon which causes the signal level to drop by 20-30 dB
in 10-20 meters. Thus, in order to maintain reliable communication
in a microcellular system new and better handoff algorithms must be
developed. A fuzzy based handoff algorithm is proposed in this paper
as a solution to this problem. Handoff on the basis of ratio of slopes
of normal signal loss to the actual signal loss is presented. The fuzzy
based solution is supported by comparing its results with the results
obtained in analytical solution.
Abstract: The stability of a software system is one of the most
important quality attributes affecting the maintenance effort. Many
techniques have been proposed to support the analysis of software
stability at the architecture, file, and class level of software systems,
but little effort has been made for that at the feature (i.e., method and
attribute) level. And the assumptions the existing techniques based
on always do not meet the practice to a certain degree. Considering
that, in this paper, we present a novel metric, Stability of Software
(SoS), to measure the stability of object-oriented software systems
by software change propagation analysis using a simulation way
in software dependency networks at feature level. The approach is
evaluated by case studies on eight open source Java programs using
different software structures (one employs design patterns versus one
does not) for the same object-oriented program. The results of the
case studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed metric. The
approach has been fully automated by a tool written in Java.
Abstract: The present work consecutively on synthesis and
characterization of composites, Al/Al alloy A 384.1 as matrix in
which the main ingredient as Al/Al-5% MgO alloy based metal
matrix composite. As practical implications the low cost processing
route for the fabrication of Al alloy A 384.1 and operational
difficulties of presently available manufacturing processes based in
liquid manipulation methods. As all new developments, complete
understanding of the influence of processing variables upon the final
quality of the product. And the composite is applied comprehensively
to the acquaintance for achieving superiority of information
concerning the specific heat measurement of a material through the
aid of thermographs. Products are evaluated concerning relative
particle size and mechanical behavior under tensile strength.
Furthermore, Taguchi technique was employed to examine the
experimental optimum results are achieved, owing to effectiveness of
this approach.
Abstract: With the aim of knowing whether curriculum and sex
differences exist in academic stress arising from perceived
expectations, high school students were asked to respond to the
Academic Expectations Stress Inventory (AESI). AESI is a nine-item
inventory with two domains, namely: expectations of
teachers/parents and expectations of self. Out of the 504 officially
enrolled high school students in a state college, 469 responded to the
inventory. Responses were analyzed using independent samples ttest.
Significant differences were found between the mean scores of
the respondents coming from the Science and the Vocational
curriculum. The respondents from the Science curriculum
consistently registered higher mean scores. Likewise, significant
differences were found between the male and the female respondents.
The female respondents consistently registered higher mean scores.
Abstract: In this paper, we discuss the egalitarianism solution (ES) and center-of-gravity of the imputation-set value (CIV) for bicooperative games, which can be seen as the extensions of the solutions for traditional games given by Dutta and Ray [1] and Driessen and Funaki [2]. Furthermore, axiomatic systems for the given values are proposed. Finally, a numerical example is offered to illustrate the player ES and CTV.
Abstract: This paper covers the present situation and problem of experimental teaching of mathematics specialty in recent years, puts
forward and demonstrates experimental teaching methods for different
education. From the aspects of content and experimental teaching
approach, uses as an example the course “Experiment for Program
Designing & Algorithmic Language" and discusses teaching practice
and laboratory course work. In addition a series of successful methods
and measures are introduced in experimental teaching.
Abstract: This paper proposes an investment cost recovery
based efficient and fast sequential optimization approach to optimal
allocation of thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) in
competitive power market. The optimization technique has been used
with an objective to maximizing the social welfare and minimizing
the device installation cost by suitable location and rating of TCSC in
the system. The effectiveness of proposed approach for location of
TCSC has been compared with some existing methods of TCSC
placement, in terms of its impact on social welfare, TCSC investment
recovery and optimal generation as well as load patterns. The results
have been obtained on modified IEEE 14-bus system.
Abstract: This paper presents the development of an MODAPTS based cost estimating system to help designers in estimating the manufacturing cost of a assembly products which is belonged from the workers in working fields. Competitiveness of manufacturing cost is getting harder because of the development of Information and telecommunication, but also globalization. Therefore, the accuracy of the assembly cost estimation is getting important. DFA and MODAPTS is useful method for measuring the working hour. But these two methods are used just as a timetable. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the process of measuring the working hours by MODAPTS which includes the working field-s accurate information. In addition, we adduce the estimation method of accuracy assembly cost with the real information. This research could be useful for designers that can estimate the assembly cost more accurately, and also effective for the companies that which are concerned to reduce the product cost.
Abstract: The design of a steam turbine is a very complex
engineering operation that can be simplified and improved thanks to
computer-aided multi-objective optimization. This process makes use
of existing optimization algorithms and losses correlations to identify
those geometries that deliver the best balance of performance (i.e.
Pareto-optimal points).
This paper deals with a one-dimensional multi-objective and
multi-point optimization of a single-stage steam turbine. Using a
genetic optimization algorithm and an algebraic one-dimensional
ideal gas-path model based on loss and deviation correlations, a code
capable of performing the optimization of a predefined steam turbine
stage was developed. More specifically, during this study the
parameters modified (i.e. decision variables) to identify the best
performing geometries were solidity and angles both for stator and
rotor cascades, while the objective functions to maximize were totalto-
static efficiency and specific work done.
Finally, an accurate analysis of the obtained results was carried
out.
Abstract: In this paper, the computation of the electrical field distribution around AC high-voltage lines is demonstrated. The advantages and disadvantages of two different methods are described to evaluate the electrical field quantity. The first method is a seminumerical method using the laws of electrostatic techniques to simulate the two-dimensional electric field under the high-voltage overhead line. The second method which will be discussed is the finite element method (FEM) using specific boundary conditions to compute the two- dimensional electric field distributions in an efficient way.
Abstract: Wind turbine should be controlled to capture maximum
wind energy and to prevent the turbine from being stalled. To achieve
those two goals, wind turbine controller controls torque on generator
and limits input torque from wind by pitching blade. Usually, torque
on generator is controlled using inverter torque set point. However,
verifying a control algorithm in actual wind turbine needs a lot of
efforts to test and the actual wind turbine could be broken while testing
a control algorithm. So, several software have developed and
commercialized by Garrad Hassan, GH Bladed, and NREL, FAST.
Even though, those programs can simulate control system modeling
with subroutines or DLLs. However, those simulation programs are
not able to emulate detailed generator or PMSG. In this paper, a small
size wind turbine simulator is developed with induction motor and
small size drive train. The developed system can simulate wind turbine
control algorithm in the region before rated power.
Abstract: The present study is concerned with the absorption
center of photophoresis within a micro-sized and spheroidal particle in
a gaseous medium. A particle subjected to an intense light beam can
absorb electromagnetic energy within the particle unevenly, which
results in photophoretic force to drive the particle in motion. By
evaluating the energy distribution systematically at various conditions,
the study focuses on the effects of governing parameters, such as
particle aspect ratio, size parameter, refractivity, and absorptivity, on
the heat source function within the particle and their potential
influences to the photophoresis.
Abstract: It is hard to percept the interaction process with machines when visual information is not available. In this paper, we have addressed this issue to provide interaction through visual techniques. Posture recognition is done for American Sign Language to recognize static alphabets and numbers. 3D information is exploited to obtain segmentation of hands and face using normal Gaussian distribution and depth information. Features for posture recognition are computed using statistical and geometrical properties which are translation, rotation and scale invariant. Hu-Moment as statistical features and; circularity and rectangularity as geometrical features are incorporated to build the feature vectors. These feature vectors are used to train SVM for classification that recognizes static alphabets and numbers. For the alphabets, curvature analysis is carried out to reduce the misclassifications. The experimental results show that proposed system recognizes posture symbols by achieving recognition rate of 98.65% and 98.6% for ASL alphabets and numbers respectively.
Abstract: In the given article the creative arts is being
investigated in the modern era and from the aspect of the artistic
interrelationship, having created by the character of his personality
and as the viewer. A study in the identity formation terms, the
definition of its being unique, unity and similarity as a global issue of
the XXI century has been conducted by the analyzing the definitions
which characterize the human nature in the arts. Spiritual universality
and human existence have been considered in the art system as a
human who is a creator, as the man hero and as the character who is
the recipient as well as the analyses which have been conducted
along with the worldwide cultural and historical processes.
Abstract: Since the 1940s, many promising telepresence
research results have been obtained. However, telepresence
technology still has not reached industrial usage. As human
intelligence is necessary for successful execution of most manual
assembly tasks, the ability of the human is hindered in some cases,
such as the assembly of heavy parts of small/medium lots or
prototypes. In such a case of manual assembly, the help of industrial
robots is mandatory. The telepresence technology can be considered
as a solution for performing assembly tasks, where the human
intelligence and haptic sense are needed to identify and minimize the
errors during an assembly process and a robot is needed to carry
heavy parts. In this paper, preliminary steps to integrate the
telepresence technology into industrial robot systems are introduced.
The system described here combines both, the human haptic sense
and the industrial robot capability to perform a manual assembly task
remotely using a force feedback joystick. Mapping between the
joystick-s Degrees of Freedom (DOF) and the robot-s ones are
introduced. Simulation and experimental results are shown and future
work is discussed.
