Abstract: The paper shows the development and implementation of the syllabus of the subject 'Distribution and Industrial Networks', attended by the vocational specialist Year 4 students of the Electric Power Engineering study programme at the Higher Education Technical School of Vocational Studies in Novi Sad. The aim of the subject is to equip students with the knowledge necessary for planning, exploitation and management of distributive and industrial electric power networks in an open electricity market environment. The results of the evaluation of educational outcomes on the subject are presented and discussed.
Abstract: The opportunities of use of metallic magnesium as a generator of hydrogen gas, as well as thermal and electric energy is presented in the paper. Various schemes of magnesium application are discussed and power characteristics of corresponding devices are presented. Economic estimation of hydrogen price obtained by different methods is made, including the use of magnesium as a source of hydrogen for transportation in comparison with gasoline. Details and prospects of our new inexpensive technology of magnesium production from magnesium hydroxide and magnesium bearing rocks (which are available worldwide and in Armenia) are analyzed. It is estimated the threshold cost of Mg production at which application of this metal in power engineering is economically justified.
Abstract: This paper presents modern solutions of distributed generation in rural communities aiming at the improvement of energy and environmental security, as well as power supply reliability to important customers (e.g. health care, sensitive consumer required continuity). Distributed sources are mainly gas and biogas cogeneration units, as well as wind and photovoltaic sources. Some examples of their applications in a selected Silesian community are given.
Abstract: Efficient use of energy, the increase in demand of
energy and also with the reduction of natural energy sources, has
improved its importance in recent years. Most of the losses in the
system from electricity produced until the point of consumption is
mostly composed by the energy distribution system. In this study,
analysis of the resulting loss in power distribution transformer and
distribution power cable is realized which are most of the losses in
the distribution system. Transformer losses in the real distribution
system are analyzed by CYME Power Engineering Software
program. These losses are disclosed for different voltage levels and
different loading conditions.
Abstract: According to the demand of the power and
refrigeration industry, the theoretical and practical teachings of the
Thermal Energy and Power Engineering characteristic specialty in
china are studied. The teaching reform and practice of the Thermal
Energy and Power Engineering specialty have been carried out,
including construction and reform measures, teaching reform and
practice, features, and achievements. Proved by practices, the
theoretical and practical teaching effects are obvious. The study results
can provides certain reference experience for theoretical and practical
teachings of the related specialties in china.
Abstract: It is usually difficult for students to understand some
basic theories in learning thermal energy and power engineering
course. A new teaching method was proposed that we should introduce
the comparison research method of those theories to help them being
understood. “Homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis” teaching is
analyzed as an example by comparison research method.
Abstract: The tracing methods determine the contribution the
power system sources have in their supplying. These methods can be
used to assess the transmission prices, but also to recover the
transmission fixed cost. In this paper is presented the influence of the
modification of commons structure has on the specific price of transfer
and on active power losses. The authors propose a power losses
allocation method, based on Kirschen-s method. The system operator
must make use of a few basic principles about allocation. The only
necessary information is the power flows on system branches and the
modifications applied to power system buses. In order to illustrate this
method, the 25-bus test system is used, elaborated within the Electrical
Power Engineering Department, from Timisoara, Romania.
Abstract: This paper presents reliability evaluation techniques
which are applied in distribution system planning studies and
operation. Reliability of distribution systems is an important issue in
power engineering for both utilities and customers. Reliability is a
key issue in the design and operation of electric power distribution
systems and load. Reliability evaluation of distribution systems has
been the subject of many recent papers and the modeling and
evaluation techniques have improved considerably.
