Abstract: The model tests were conducted in the laboratory
without and with Plastic recycled polymer in fly ash steep slopes
overlaying soft foundation soils like fly ash and powai soil in order to
check the stability of steep slope. In this experiment, fly ash is used
as a filling material and Plastic Recycled Polymers of diameter =
3mm and length = 4mm were made from waste plastic product (lower
grade plastic product). The properties of fly ash and Plastic recycled
polymers are determined. From the experiments, load and settlement
have measured. From these data, load –settlement curves have
reported. It has been observed from test results that load carrying
capacity of mixture fly ash with Plastic Recycled Polymers slope is
more than that of fly ash slope. The deformation of Plastic Recycled
Polymers slope is slightly more than that of fly ash slope. A Finite
Element Method (F.E.M.) was also evaluated using PLAXIS 3D
version. The failure pattern, deformations and factor of safety are
reported based on analytical programme. The results from
experimental data and analytical programme are compared and
reported.
Abstract: Due to rapid pressured of population growth, city has
started to lose its old tradition. City becomes congested with
uncomfortably living. Urban renewal refers orderly development of
settlements as well as land redevelopment. For this paper Chittagong
city has been selected as study area. It had a great tradition but it has
been losing its concord. Land use pattern of this place is also
haphazard due to lack of planning intervention. Renewal plan is
needed to ascertain suitable redevelopment and to recommend on
preservation of city heritage structure. The goal of this study is to
prepare a renewal plan using local planning approach. Social impact
methods have been used to achieve this goal. Both primary and
secondary data are used to achieve the goal. This study may find out
a complete solution for healthy living in old Part of city. This study
will help to preserve its tradition and makes urban lives more livable.
Abstract: 600 schools going adolescents and 100 teachers from
16 schools of Dhemaji and Lakhimpur district of Assam, India were
surveyed to assess and compare their awareness regarding AIDS and
AIDS Education. An awareness test was administered containing 38
items for adolescents and 40 items for teachers in the test.

Abstract: It has become an increasing evident that large
development influences the climate. There are concerns that rising
temperature over developed areas could have negative impact and
increase living discomfort within city boundaries. Temperature trends
in Ibadan city have received little attention, yet the area has
experienced heavy urban expansion between 1972 and 2014. This
research aims at examining the impact of landuse change on surface
temperature knowing that the built-up environment absorb and store
solar energy, resulting into the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. The
Landsat imagery was used to examine the landuse change for a
period of 42 years (1972-2014). Land Surface Temperature (LST)
was obtained by converting the thermal band to a surface temperature
map and zonal statistic analyses was used to examine the relationship
between landuse and temperature emission. The results showed that
the settlement area increased to a large extent while the area covered
by vegetation reduced during the study period. The spatial and
temporal trends of surface temperature are related to the gradual
change in urban landuse/landcover and the settlement area has the
highest emission. This research provides useful insight into the
temporal behavior of the Ibadan city.
Abstract: The concept of urban transformation came about
through interventions aimed at bringing socially and economically
problematic areas of cities into use. The issue of urban transformation
arose frequently during the post-2000 period in particular, and legal
regulations on this matter were also developed in Turkey. Urban
transformation project would be a focal point for the formation of the
city in the near future. Izmir, which is third largest city of Turkey, is
an important trade and port city. But, assessment of the current
situation shows that, the majority of existing residential areas was
formed with squatters and unplanned settlements in Izmir city center.
Therefore an important part of these areas have significant problems
in terms of the quality of life, safety and environmental quality. In
this study, the central policies in Turkey and local policies in Đzmir
about urban transformation will be considered. In addition, urban
renewal projects that are being implemented in Izmir were discussed
and suggestions will be developed in accordance with this policy.
Abstract: The rapid development of culture tourism has drawn
attention to conserving cultural values especially by developing
countries that would like to benefit from the economic contribution
this type of tourism attracts. Tourism can have both positive and
negative outcomes for historical settlements and their residents. The
accommodation-purposed rehabilitation and revitalization project in
“Sigacik Old City Zone” are to be discussed with spatial, economic,
social and organizational dimensions. It is aimed to evaluate the
relationship between the development of tourism and sustainable
heritage conservation.
Abstract: Third-party warehousing logistics has an important role in the development of external logistics. At present, the third-party logistics in our country is still a new industry, the accounting system has not yet been established, the current financial accounting system of third-party warehousing logistics is mainly in the traditional way of thinking, and only able to provide the total cost information of the entire enterprise during the accounting period, unable to reflect operating indirect cost information. In order to solve the problem of third-party logistics industry cost information distortion, improve the level of logistics cost management, the paper combines theoretical research and case analysis method to reflect cost allocation by building third-party logistics costing model using Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing(TDABC), and takes S company as an example to account and control the warehousing logistics cost.Based on the idea of “Products consume activities and activities consume resources”, TDABC put time into the main cost driver and use time-consuming equation resources assigned to cost objects. In S company, the objects focuses on three warehouse, engaged with warehousing and transportation (the second warehouse, transport point) service. These three warehouse respectively including five departments, Business Unit, Production Unit, Settlement Center, Security Department and Equipment Division, the activities in these departments are classified by in-out of storage forecast, in-out of storage or transit and safekeeping work. By computing capacity cost rate, building the time-consuming equation, the paper calculates the final operation cost so as to reveal the real cost. The numerical analysis results show that the TDABC can accurately reflect the cost allocation of service customers and reveal the spare capacity cost of resource center, verifies the feasibility and validity of TDABC in third-party logistics industry cost accounting. It inspires enterprises focus on customer relationship management and reduces idle cost to strengthen the cost management of third-party logistics enterprises.
Abstract: Television news has gained a new dimension in terms
of ideological approaches as a result of such factors as globalization,
cross monopolization, presence of international companies etc. and
certain strategies have been developed at the production, presentation
and distribution stages of news. In this study, television news about a
process called “settlement process” was investigated. In this
framework, news about the settlement process on TV channels of
TRT 1, ATV, FOX TV, NTV, HABERTÜRK, TRT HABER and
STV was investigated using the content analysis method in terms of
the strategies the ideology construction, attitude towards the party in
power, attitude towards parties in opposition and attitude towards
BDP (Peace and Democracy Part) and Imrali (the island where
Abdullah Ocalan, head of PKK, is kept). First, the aforementioned
TV channels were selected randomly from 3 groups in order to be
able to reveal the representational capacity of commercial, news and
public channels.
The study covers 557 news items broadcast in the main news
bulletins between the dates of 15 March 2013 and 15 March 2013.
While there was a positive attitude towards the government in a
sizable portion of the news about the settlement process (63.6%), the
attitude of 25.3% of the news was impartial towards the government
and 11.3% had a negative attitude. On the other hand, there was a
negative attitude towards the Opposition in a considerable portion of
the news about the settlement process (56.1%). The attitude of 35.9%
of the news towards the Opposition was impartial whereas 8.0% had
a positive attitude. While 34.9% of the news about the settlement
process used the legitimization strategy from among the ideology
construction strategies, 22.8% used the unification strategy, 15.7%
the reification strategy, 15.6% fractional and 11%
concealment/mystification strategy.
Abstract: Population in rural areas are scattered in the form of different villages or settlements. The proper selection of land to launch any educational or health activities to equally facilitate both the genders is the sticky situation, both for Govt. and Private organizations. Govt. spends substantial funds for the establishment of education institution/health centre at the place which is feasible and accessible to general public. However for specific gender, the gender population is also considered so that both the gender may be benefited equally. In this research, efforts have been made to illustrate how one can choose or locate the best central place/ area in Taluka Kunri of district Umerkot Sindh Pakistan where the Educational or Health activity is to be initiated. For the purpose the concept of centre of mass theorem is used as a tool to develop mathematical model, subsequently utilize in achieving the objectives.
Abstract: Since, both the relative position of tunnels and the construction procedure affect the soil movement and internal forces in the lining, it is of major concern to study the influence of these factors on the tunnel design. Construction procedures of tunnels have considerable effects on the magnitude of surface movements and lining stresses. This paper describes numerical analysis of construction procedure of a three adjacent shallow tunnels at high groundwater levels using the commercial finite difference software (FLAC-3D). The aim of this study is to determinate the most suitable construction procedure for the three tunnels and the optimum excavation step in Tehran Metro tunnels in order to optimize the surface settlements and lining stresses.
Abstract: Today, preservation of the historical constructions in "single construction" scale creates an inadequate preservation model in terms of the integrity of the historical environment in which they are located. However, in order to preserve these structures forming this integrity with a holistic approach, the structures either need to continue their unique functions or to be reshaped for function conforming to today's comfort conditions brought by the modern life.
In this work, the preservation of Ayazma Social Complex located in Ayazma Neighborhood of Üsküdar, one of the most important historical districts of İstanbul, with integrated preservation method has been discussed. In the conventional Turkish architecture, the social complex is a structure complex formed via constructing the public buildings required for the daily life of the people living in a settlement. Thus, the preservation of the social complexes within the scope of "integrated preservation" has gained importance. Ayazma Social Complex that forms the examination area of this work consists of a mosque in its center and structures around this mosque such as sultan mansion, time assignment center, primary school, stores, bath and water reservoirs. Mosque, sultan mansion and the water reservoirs survived to today as mostly preserved status. However, time assignment center, primary school and the stores didn't survive to today and new structures were built on their plots. The bath was mostly damaged and only the wall residues survive to today. Thus, it's urgent and crucial especially carry out the preservation restoration of the bath in accordance with integrated preservation principles. The preservation problems of the bath based on the social complex were determined as a working method and preservation suggestions were made to overcome these problems and to include the bath into daily life. Furthermore, it was suggested that the bath should be reshaped for a different function in order to be preserved with the social complex.
Abstract: This paper introduces selected composition of conventional concretes and their resulting mechanical properties at different ages of concrete. With respect to utilization of mineral admixtures, fly ash and ground limestone agents were included in addition to pure Portland binder. The proposal of concrete composition remained constant in basic concrete components such as cement and representation of individual contents of aggregate fractions; weight dosing of admixtures and water dose were only modified. Water dose was chosen in order to achieve identical consistence by settlement for all proposals of concrete composition. Mechanical properties monitored include compression strength, static and dynamic modulus of concrete elasticity, at ages of 7, 28, 90, and 180 days.
Abstract: Settlement and bearing capacity of a piled raft are the two important issues for the foundations of structures built on coastal areas from the geotechnical engineering point of view. Strip piled raft as a load carrying system can reduce the possible extensive consolidation settlements and improve bearing capacity of structures in soft ground. The aim of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of strip piled raft embedded in soft clay. The efficiency of bearing capacity of strip piled raft foundation has been evaluated numerically in two cases; in the first case, the cap is placed directly on the ground surface and in the second, the cap is placed above the ground. Regarding to the fact that the geotechnical parameters of the soft clay are considered at low level, low bearing capacity is expected. The length, diameter and axe-to-axe distance of piles were the parameters which varied in this study to find out how they affected the bearing capacity. Results indicate that increasing the length and the diameter of the piles increase the bearing capacity.
Abstract: The Romain paths or roads offer a very interesting archaeological material, because they allow us to understand the history of human settlement and are also factors that increase territorial identity. Roman roads are one of the hallmarks of the Roman empire, which extends to North Africa. The objective of this investigation is to attract the attention of researchers of the importance of Roman roads and paths, which are found in Algeria, according to the quality of the materials and techniques used in this period our history, and to encourage other decision makers to protect and enhance these routes because the current urbanization, intensive agricultural practices, or simply forgotten, decreases the sustainability of this important historical heritage.
Abstract: An important aspect of planning for shallow tunneling under urban areas is the determination of likely surface movements and interaction with existing structures. Back analysis of built tunnels that their settlements magnitude is available, could aid the designers to have a more accuracy in future projects.
In this paper, one single Tehran Metro Tunnel (at west of Hor square, Jang University Street) was selected. At first, surface settlements of this tunnel were measured in situ. Then this tunnel was modeled using the commercial finite deference software FLAC-3D. Finally, Results of modeling and in situ measurements compared for verification.
Abstract: Managing a capital group is a complex and specific process. It creates special conditions for the introduction of team work organization of managers. The selection of a manager employment form is a problem which gets complicated in case of management teams. The considered possibilities are an employment-based and non-employment managerial contract, which can be based on a thorough action or on formulating definite expectations regarding the results of a manager’s work. The problem of selection between individual and collegiate settlement of managers’ work has been pointed out. The deliberations were based on the assumptions of chosen company management theories, including transactional cost, agency theory, nexus of contracts theory, stewardship theory and theories referring directly to management teams, i.e. Upper echelons theory.
Abstract: One of the United Nations Millennium Development targets is to 'achieve significant improvement in lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers, by 2020'. To monitor progress on this target a first step is to develop an operational definition to identify slum settlements. The indicators selected are: access to water and sanitation, sufficient living area, a house with durable material on a non-hazardous location and with tenure security. This paper describes the techniques of identifying slums and applied the techniques in identifying slum in Lafia town. The methodology used was selection of one district in Lafia town for this study and the district was zoned into four units. The total of 10% sample size out of 2,482 households of 250 questionnaires was administered using systematic sampling method based on proportion of houses at each zones as 90, 70, 40 and 50 respectively. The result shows that the area is a second order degeneration that needs a major improvement. Recommendations were made in this regard for urgent intervention in improving or upgrading of housing and infrastructural facilities
Abstract: The integration between technology of remote
sensing, information from the data of digital image, and modeling
technology for the simulation of water quality will provide easiness
during the observation on the quality of water changes on the river
surface. For example, Ciliwung River which is contaminated with
non-point source pollutant from household wastes, particularly on its
downstream. This fact informed that the quality of water in this river
is getting worse. The land use for settlements and housing ranges
between 62.84% - 81.26% on the downstream of Ciliwung River,
give a significant picture in seeing factors that affected the water
quality of Ciliwung River.
