Abstract: wind catchers have been served as a cooling system, used to provide acceptable ventilation by means of renewable energy of wind. In the present study, the city of Yazd in arid climate is selected as case study. From the architecture point of view, learning about wind catchers in this study is done by means of field surveys. Research method for selection of the case is based on random form, and analytical method. Wind catcher typology and knowledge of relationship governing the wind catcher's architecture were those measures that are taken for the first time. 53 wind catchers were analyzed. The typology of the wind-catchers is done by the physical analyzing, patterns and common concepts as incorporated in them. How the architecture of wind catcher can influence their operations by analyzing thermal behavior are the archetypes of selected wind catchers. Calculating fluids dynamics science, fluent software and numerical analysis are used in this study as the most accurate analytical approach. The results obtained from these analyses show the formal specifications of wind catchers with optimum operation in Yazd. The knowledge obtained from the optimum model could be used for design and construction of wind catchers with more improved operation
Abstract: The choice of studying economics instead of another subject should be motivated by the fact that economics training equips students with skills and knowledge that other disciplines do not provide. Which are these skills and knowledge, however, is not always very clear. This article clarifies such issue by first exploring the philosophical foundations and the defining features of the discipline, and then by investigating in which ways these are transferred to the students. In other words, we study what is meant by the 'economic way of thinking' that is passed on to the students.
Abstract: Majority of researches conducted on Iranian urban
development plans indicate that they have been almost unsuccessful
in terms of draft, execution and goal achievement. Lack or shortage
of essential statistics and information can be listed as an important
reason of the failure of these plans. Lack of figures and information
has turned into an obvious part of the country-s statistics officials.
This problem has made urban planner themselves to embark on
physical surveys including real estate and land pricing, population
and economic census of the city. Apart from the problems facing
urban developers, the possibility of errors is high in such surveys.
In the present article, applying the interview technique, it has
been mentioned that utilizing multipurpose cadastre system as a land
information system is essential for urban development plans in Iran.
It can minimize or even remove the failures facing urban
development plans.
Abstract: Nowadays, access to sustainable development in cities is assumed as one of the most important goals of urban managers. In the meanwhile, neighborhood as the smallest unit of urban spatial organization has a substantial effect on urban sustainability. Hence, attention to and focus on this subject is highly important in urban development plans. The objective of this study is evaluation of the status of Jahanshahr Neighborhood in Karaj city based on sustainable neighborhood development indicators. This research has been applied based on documentary method and field surveys. Also, evaluating of Jahanshahr Neighborhood of Karaj shows that it has a high level in sustainability in physical and economical dimension while a low level in cultural and social dimension. For this purpose, this neighborhood as a semi-sustainable neighborhood must take measures for development of collective spaces and efficiency of utilizing the public neighborhood spaces via collaboration of citizens and officials.
Abstract: Organizational innovation favors technological
innovation, but does it also influence technological innovation
persistence? This article investigates empirically the pattern of
technological innovation persistence and tests the potential impact of
organizational innovation using firm-level data from three waves of
the French Community Innovation Surveys. Evidence shows a
positive effect of organizational innovation on technological
innovation persistence, according to various measures of
organizational innovation. Moreover, this impact is more significant
for complex innovators (i.e., those who innovate in both products and
processes). These results highlight the complexity of managing
organizational practices with regard to the firm-s technological
innovation. They also add to comprehension of the drivers of
innovation persistence, through a focus on an often forgotten
dimension of innovation in a broader sense.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore the
relationship between Burnout, Negative Affectivity, and
Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) for social service
workers at two agencies serving homeless populations. Thirty two
subjects completed surveys. Significant correlations between major
variables and subscales were found.
Abstract: This research focuses on the use of a recommender
system in decision support by means of a used car dealer case study
in Bangkok Metropolitan. The goal is to develop an effective used car
purchasing system for dealers based on the above premise. The
underlying principle rests on content-based recommendation from a
set of usability surveys. A prototype was developed to conduct
buyers- survey selected from 5 experts and 95 general public. The
responses were analyzed to determine the mean and standard
deviation of buyers- preference. The results revealed that both groups
were in favor of using the proposed system to assist their buying
decision. This indicates that the proposed system is meritorious to
used car dealers.
Abstract: This research analyzes factors affecting the success of
Litecoin Value within Thailand and develops a guideline for selfreliance
for effective business implementation. Samples in this study
included 119 people through surveys. The results revealed four main
factors affecting the success as follows: 1) Future Career training
should be pursued in applied Litecoin development. 2) Didn't grasp
the concept of a digital currency or see the benefit of a digital
currency. 3) There is a great need to educate the next generation of
learners on the benefits of Litecoin within the community. 4) A great
majority didn't know what Litecoin was.
The guideline for self-reliance planning consisted of 4 aspects: 1)
Development planning: by arranging meet up groups to conduct
further education on Litecoin and share solutions on adoption into
every day usage. Local communities need to develop awareness of
the usefulness of Litecoin and share the value of Litecoin among
friends and family. 2) Computer Science and Business Management
staff should develop skills to expand on the benefits of Litecoin
within their departments. 3) Further research should be pursued on
how Litecoin Value can improve business and tourism within
Thailand. 4) Local communities should focus on developing Litecoin
awareness by encouraging street vendors to accept Litecoin as
another form of payment for services rendered.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview on methodological aspects of the information technology outsourcing (ITO) surveys, in an attempt to improve the data quality and reporting in survey research. It is based on a review of thirty articles on ITO surveys and focuses on two commonly explored dimensions of ITO, namely what are outsourced and why should there be ITO. This study highlights weaknesses in ITO surveys including lack of a clear definition of population, lack of information regarding the sampling method used, not citing the response rate, no information pertaining to pilot testing of survey instrument and absence of information on internal validity in the use or reporting of surveys. This study represents an attempt with a limited scope to point to shortfalls in the use survey methodology in ITO, and thus raise awareness among researchers in enhancing the reliability of survey findings.
