Abstract: The emerging markets of post-USSR countries have
attracted Western multinational companies; however, weak
institutions and unstable host country environments have hindered the
implementation of successful management practices. The Ukrainian
market, in light of recent events, is particularly interesting to study
for its compatibility with Western businesses. This paper focuses on
factors that can facilitate or inhibit the transfer of human resource
management practices from Western headquarters to Ukrainian
subsidiaries. To explain the national context’s effects better, a
business systems approach has been applied to a qualitative study of
16 wholly owned Western subsidiaries, dissecting the reasons for a
weak integration of Western practices in Ukraine. Results show that
underdeveloped institutions have forced companies to develop
additional practices that compensate for national weaknesses, as well
as to adjust to a constantly changing environment. Flexibility and
local responsiveness were observed as vital for success in Ukraine.
Abstract: Today, any organization - regardless of the specific activity - must be prepared to face continuous radical changes, innovation thus becoming a condition of survival in a globalized market. Few managers have a wider vision that includes innovation, to enable better performance of the critical activities, namely the degree of novelty that it must submit an innovation to be considered as such. Companies need not only radical changes in the products or their services, but also to their business strategies. Not all managers have an overall view on the real size of necessary innovation potential. Unfortunately there is still no common understanding (and correct) of the term of innovation among managers. Moreover, not all managers are aware of the need for innovation. In these conditions, increasing the processes adaptability of firms (through innovation) to meet the needs and performance requirements is difficult without a systematic framework. To overcome this disadvantage, the authors propose a framework for designing an innovation management system,, to cover all the important aspects of a business system, to reach the actual performance of an organization.
Abstract: With the extensive inclusion of document, especially
text, in the business systems, data mining does not cover the full
scope of Business Intelligence. Data mining cannot deliver its impact
on extracting useful details from the large collection of unstructured
and semi-structured written materials based on natural languages.
The most pressing issue is to draw the potential business intelligence
from text. In order to gain competitive advantages for the business, it
is necessary to develop the new powerful tool, text mining, to expand
the scope of business intelligence.
In this paper, we will work out the strong points of text mining in
extracting business intelligence from huge amount of textual
information sources within business systems. We will apply text
mining to each stage of Business Intelligence systems to prove that
text mining is the powerful tool to expand the scope of BI. After
reviewing basic definitions and some related technologies, we will
discuss the relationship and the benefits of these to text mining. Some
examples and applications of text mining will also be given. The
motivation behind is to develop new approach to effective and
efficient textual information analysis. Thus we can expand the scope
of Business Intelligence using the powerful tool, text mining.
Abstract: The world is moving rapidly toward the deployment
of information and communication systems. Nowadays, computing
systems with their fast growth are found everywhere and one of the main challenges for these systems is increasing attacks and security threats against them. Thus, capturing, analyzing and verifying security requirements becomes a very important activity in
development process of computing systems, specially in developing
systems such as banking, military and e-business systems. For
developing every system, a process model which includes a process,
methods and tools is chosen. The Rational Unified Process (RUP) is
one of the most popular and complete process models which is used
by developers in recent years. This process model should be extended to be used in developing secure software systems. In this
paper, the Requirement Discipline of RUP is extended to improve RUP for developing secure software systems. These proposed extensions are adding and integrating a number of Activities, Roles,
and Artifacts to RUP in order to capture, document and model threats
and security requirements of system. These extensions introduce a
