Abstract: The objective of this paper is to use the Pfaffian
technique to construct different classes of exact Pfaffian solutions and
N-soliton solutions to some of the generalized integrable nonlinear
partial differential equations in (3+1) dimensions. In this paper, I will
show that the Pfaffian solutions to the nonlinear PDEs are nothing but
Pfaffian identities. Solitons are among the most beneficial solutions
for science and technology, from ocean waves to transmission of
information through optical fibers or energy transport along protein
molecules. The existence of multi-solitons, especially three-soliton
solutions, is essential for information technology: it makes possible
undisturbed simultaneous propagation of many pulses in both directions.
Abstract: Creep stresses and strain rates have been obtained
for a thin rotating disc having variable density with inclusion by
using Seth-s transition theory. The density of the disc is assumed to
vary radially, i.e. ( ) 0 ¤ü ¤ü r/b m - = ; ¤ü 0 and m being real positive
constants. It has been observed that a disc, whose density increases
radially, rotates at higher angular speed, thus decreasing the
possibility of a fracture at the bore, whereas for a disc whose
density decreases radially, the possibility of a fracture at the bore
increases.
Abstract: The hypercube Qn is one of the most well-known
and popular interconnection networks and the k-ary n-cube Qk
n is
an enlarged family from Qn that keeps many pleasing properties
from hypercubes. In this article, we study the panpositionable
hamiltonicity of Qk
n for k ≥ 3 and n ≥ 2. Let x, y of V (Qk
n)
be two arbitrary vertices and C be a hamiltonian cycle of Qk
n.
We use dC(x, y) to denote the distance between x and y on the
hamiltonian cycle C. Define l as an integer satisfying d(x, y) ≤ l ≤ 1
2 |V (Qk
n)|. We prove the followings:
• When k = 3 and n ≥ 2, there exists a hamiltonian cycle C
of Qk
n such that dC(x, y) = l.
• When k ≥ 5 is odd and n ≥ 2, we request that l /∈ S
where S is a set of specific integers. Then there exists a
hamiltonian cycle C of Qk
n such that dC(x, y) = l.
• When k ≥ 4 is even and n ≥ 2, we request l-d(x, y) to be
even. Then there exists a hamiltonian cycle C of Qk
n such
that dC(x, y) = l.
The result is optimal since the restrictions on l is due to the
structure of Qk
n by definition.
Abstract: In this study we investigate silica nanoparticle (SiO2- NP) effects on the structure and phase properties of supported lipid monolayers and bilayers, coupling surface pressure measurements, fluorescence microscopy and atomic force microscopy. SiO2-NPs typically in size range of 10nm to 100 nm in diameter are tested. Our results suggest first that lipid molecules organization depends to their nature. Secondly, lipid molecules in the vinicity of big aggregates nanoparticles organize in liquid condensed phase whereas small aggregates are localized in both fluid liquid-expanded (LE) and liquid-condenced (LC). We demonstrated also by atomic force microscopy that by measuring friction forces it is possible to get information as if nanoparticle aggregates are recovered or not by lipid monolayers and bilayers.
Abstract: In this paper, we present parallel alternating two-stage methods for solving linear system Ax = b, where A is a monotone matrix or an H-matrix. And we give some convergence results of these methods for nonsingular linear system.
Abstract: This paper describes how the correct endian mode of
the TMS320C6713 DSK board can be identified. It also explains how
the TMS320C6713 DSK board can be used in the little endian and in
the big endian modes for assembly language programming in
particular and for signal processing in general. Similarly, it discusses
how crucially important it is for a user of the TMS320C6713 DSK
board to identify the mode of operation and then use it correctly
during the development stages of the assembly language
programming; otherwise, it will cause unnecessary confusion and
erroneous results as far as storing data into the memory and loading
data from the memory is concerned. Furthermore, it highlights and
strongly recommends to the users of the TMS320C6713 DSK board
to be aware of the availability and importance of various display
options in the Code Composer Studio (CCS) for correctly
interpreting and displaying the desired data in the memory. The
information presented in this paper will be of great importance and
interest to those practitioners and developers who wants to use the
TMS320C6713 DSK board for assembly language programming as
well as input-output signal processing manipulations. Finally,
examples that clearly illustrate the concept are presented.
Abstract: Chronic diseases prevailed along with economic
growth as well as life style changed in recent years in Taiwan.
According to the governmental statistics, hypertension related disease
is the tenth of death causes with 1,816 died directly from hypertension
in 2010. There were more death causes amongst the top ten had been
proofed that having strong association with the hypertension, such as
heart diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Hypertension or
High blood pressure is one of the major indicators for chronic diseases,
and was generally perceived as the major causes of mortality. The
literature generally suggested that regular physical exercise was
helpful to prevent the occurrence or to ease the progress of a
hypertension. This paper reported the process and outcomes in
detailed of an improvement project of physical exercise intervention
specific for hypertension patients. Physical information were
measured before and after the project to obtain information such as
weight, waistline, cholesterol (HD & LD), blood examination, as well
as self-perceived health status. The intervention project involved a
six-week exercise program, of which contained three times a week, 30
minutes of tutored physical exercise intervention. The project had
achieved several gains in changing the subjects- behavior in terms of
many important biophysical indexes. Around 20% of the participants
had significantly improved their cholesterols, BMI, and changed
unhealthy behaviors. Results from the project were encouraging, and
would be good reference for other samples.
Abstract: Buildings and associated construction methods have a significant impact on the environment. As construction activity increases in Kuwait, there is a need to create design and construction strategies which will minimize the environmental impact of new buildings. Green construction is a design philosophy intended to improve the sustainability of construction by the minimization of resource depletion and CO2 emissions throughout the life cycle of buildings. This paper presents and discusses the results of a survey that was conducted in Kuwait, with the objective of investigating the awareness of developers and other stakeholders regarding their understanding and use of green construction strategies. The results of the survey demonstrate that whilst there seems to be a reasonable level of awareness amongst the stakeholders, this awareness is not currently well reflected in the design and construction practices actually being applied. It is therefore concluded is there is a pressing need for intervention from Government in order that the use of sustainable green design and construction strategies becomes the norm in Kuwait.
Abstract: The electromagnetic imaging of inhomogeneous
dielectric cylinders buried in a slab medium by transverse electric
(TE) wave illumination is investigated. Dielectric cylinders of
unknown permittivities are buried in second space and scattered a
group of unrelated waves incident from first space where the scattered
field is recorded. By proper arrangement of the various unrelated
incident fields, the difficulties of ill-posedness and nonlinearity are
circumvented, and the permittivity distribution can be reconstructed
through simple matrix operations. The algorithm is based on the
moment method and the unrelated illumination method. Numerical
results are given to demonstrate the capability of the inverse
algorithm. Good reconstruction is obtained even in the presence of
additive Gaussian random noise in measured data. In addition, the
effect of noise on the reconstruction result is also investigated.
Abstract: In a product development process, understanding the functional behavior of the system, the role of components in achieving functions and failure modes if components/subsystem fails its required function will help develop appropriate design validation and verification program for reliability assessment. The integration of these three issues will help design and reliability engineers in identifying weak spots in design and planning future actions and testing program. This case study demonstrate the advantage of unascertained theory described in the subjective cognition uncertainty, and then applies blind number (BN) theory in describing the uncertainty of the mechanical system failure process and the same time used the same theory in bringing out another mechanical reliability system model. The practical calculations shows the BN Model embodied the characters of simply, small account of calculation but betterforecasting capability, which had the value of macroscopic discussion to some extent.
Abstract: The purpose of this work is fast design optimization of
the seal chamber. The study includes the mass transfer between lower
and upper chamber on seal chamber for hot water application pumps.
The use of Fluent 12.1 commercial code made it possible to capture
complex flow with heat-mass transfer, radiation, Tailor instability,
and buoyancy effect. Realizable k-epsilon model was used for
turbulence modeling. Radiation heat losses were taken into account.
The temperature distribution at seal region is predicted with respect
to heat addition.
Results show the possibilities of the model simplifications by
excluding the water domain in low chamber from calculations. CFD
simulations permit to improve seal chamber design to meet target
water temperature around the seal. This study can be used for the
analysis of different seal chamber configurations.
Abstract: This paper describes a low-voltage and low-power
channel selection analog front end with continuous-time low pass
filters and highly linear programmable gain amplifier (PGA). The
filters were realized as balanced Gm-C biquadratic filters to achieve a
low current consumption. High linearity and a constant wide
bandwidth are achieved by using a new transconductance (Gm) cell.
The PGA has a voltage gain varying from 0 to 65dB, while
maintaining a constant bandwidth. A filter tuning circuit that requires
an accurate time base but no external components is presented.
With a 1-Vrms differential input and output, the filter achieves
-85dB THD and a 78dB signal-to-noise ratio. Both the filter and PGA
were implemented in a 0.18um 1P6M n-well CMOS process. They
consume 3.2mW from a 1.8V power supply and occupy an area of
0.19mm2.
Abstract: As originally designed for wired networks, TCP (transmission control protocol) congestion control mechanism is triggered into action when packet loss is detected. This implicit assumption for packet loss mostly due to network congestion does not work well in Mobile Ad Hoc Network, where there is a comparatively high likelihood of packet loss due to channel errors and node mobility etc. Such non-congestion packet loss, when dealt with by congestion control mechanism, causes poor TCP performance in MANET. In this study, we continue to investigate the impact of the interaction between transport protocols and on-demand routing protocols on the performance and stability of 802.11 multihop networks. We evaluate the important wireless networking events caused routing change, and propose a cross layer method to delay the unnecessary routing changes, only need to add a sensitivity parameter α , which represents the on-demand routing-s reaction to link failure of MAC layer. Our proposal is applicable to the plain 802.11 networking environment, the simulation results that this method can remarkably improve the stability and performance of TCP without any modification on TCP and MAC protocol.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation
between Facebook involvement and internet addiction. We sampled
577 university students in Taiwan and administered a survey of
Facebook usage, Facebook involvement scale (FIS), and internet
addiction scale. The FIS comprises three factors (salience, emotional
support, and amusement). Results showed that the Facebook
involvement scale had good reliability and validity. The correlation
between Facebook involvement and internet addiction was measured
at .395. This means that a higher degree of Facebook involvement
indicates a greater degree of psychological dependency on the internet,
and a greater propensity towards social withdrawal and other negative
psychological consequences associated with internet addiction.
Besides, the correlations between three factors of FIS (salience,
emotional support, and amusement) and internet addiction ranged
from .313-372, indicating that these neither of these factors (salience,
emotional support, and amusement) is more effective than the others in
predicting internet dependency.
Abstract: Although agriculture is an important part of the world
economy, accounting in agriculture still has many shortcomings. The
adoption of IAS 41 “Agriculture” has tried to improve this situation
and increase the comparability of financial statements of entities in
the agricultural sector. Although controversial, IAS 41 is the first
step of a consistent transition to fair value assessment in the
agricultural sector. The objective of our work is the analysis of IAS
41 and current accounting agricultural situation in Romania.
Accounting regulations in Romania are in accordance with European
directives and, in many respects, converged with IFRS referential.
Provisions of IAS 41, however, are not reflected directly in
Romanian regulations. With the increase of forest land transactions,
it is expected that recognition and measurement of biological assets
under IAS 41 to become a necessity.
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the study of techniques
for scheduling users for resource allocation in the case of multiple
input and multiple output (MIMO) packet transmission systems. In
these systems, transmit antennas are assigned to one user or
dynamically to different users using spatial multiplexing. The
allocation of all transmit antennas to one user cannot take full
advantages of multi-user diversity. Therefore, we developed the case
when resources are allocated dynamically. At each time slot users
have to feed back their channel information on an uplink feedback
channel. Channel information considered available in the schedulers
is the zero forcing (ZF) post detection signal to interference plus
noise ratio. Our analysis study concerns the round robin and the
opportunistic schemes.
In this paper, we present an overview and a complete capacity
analysis of these schemes. The main results in our study are to give
an analytical form of system capacity using the ZF receiver at the
user terminal. Simulations have been carried out to validate all
proposed analytical solutions and to compare the performance of
these schemes.
Abstract: This paper presents a methodology for operational and
economic characteristics based evaluation and selection of a power
plant using Graph theoretic approach. A universal evaluation index
on the basis of Operational and economics characteristics of a plant is
proposed which evaluates and ranks the various types of power plants.
The index thus obtained from the pool of operational characteristics
of the power plant attributes Digraph. The Digraph is developed
considering Operational and economics attributes of the power plants
and their relative importance for their smooth operation, installation
and commissioning and prioritizing their selection. The sensitivity
analysis of the attributes towards the objective has also been carried
out in order to study the impact of attributes over the desired outcome
i.e. the universal operational-economics index of the power plant.
Abstract: Electromyography (EMG) signal processing has been investigated remarkably regarding various applications such as in rehabilitation systems. Specifically, wavelet transform has served as a powerful technique to scrutinize EMG signals since wavelet transform is consistent with the nature of EMG as a non-stationary signal. In this paper, the efficiency of wavelet transform in surface EMG feature extraction is investigated from four levels of wavelet decomposition and a comparative study between different mother wavelets had been done. To recognize the best function and level of wavelet analysis, two evaluation criteria, scatter plot and RES index are recruited. Hereupon, four wavelet families, namely, Daubechies, Coiflets, Symlets and Biorthogonal are studied in wavelet decomposition stage. Consequently, the results show that only features from first and second level of wavelet decomposition yields good performance and some functions of various wavelet families can lead to an improvement in separability class of different hand movements.
Abstract: There are many debates now regarding undervalued
and overvalued currencies currently traded on the world financial
market. This paper contributes to these debates from a theoretical
point of view. We present the three most commonly used methods of
estimating the equilibrium real effective exchange rate (REER):
macroeconomic balance approach, external sustainability approach
and equilibrium real effective exchange rate approach in the reduced
form. Moreover, we discuss key concepts of the calculation of the
real exchange rate (RER) based on applied explanatory variables:
nominal exchange rates, terms of trade and tradable and non-tradable
goods. Last but not least, we discuss the three main driving forces
behind real exchange rates movements which include terms of trade,
relative productivity growth and the interest rate differential.
Abstract: The hydraulic actuated excavator, being a non-linear
mobile machine, encounters many uncertainties. There are
uncertainties in the hydraulic system in addition to the uncertain
nature of the load. The simulation results obtained in this study show
that there is a need for intelligent control of such machines and in
particular interval type-2 fuzzy controller is most suitable for
minimizing the position error of a typical excavator-s bucket under
load variations. We consider the model parameter uncertainties such
as hydraulic fluid leakage and friction. These are uncertainties which
also depend up on the temperature and alter bulk modulus and
viscosity of the hydraulic fluid. Such uncertainties together with the
load variations cause chattering of the bucket position. The interval
type-2 fuzzy controller effectively eliminates the chattering and
manages to control the end-effecter (bucket) position with positional
error in the order of few millimeters.
