Abstract: The ultrasound imaging is very popular to diagnosis
the disease because of its non-invasive nature. The ultrasound
imaging slowly produces low quality images due to the presence of
spackle noise and wave interferences. There are several algorithms to
be proposed for the segmentation of ultrasound carotid artery images
but it requires a certain limit of user interaction. The pixel in an
image is highly correlated so the spatial information of surrounding
pixels may be considered in the process of image segmentation which
improves the results further. When data is highly correlated, one pixel
may belong to more than one cluster with different degree of
membership. There is an important step to computerize the evaluation
of arterial disease severity using segmentation of carotid artery lumen
in 2D and 3D ultrasonography and in finding vulnerable
atherosclerotic plaques susceptible to rupture which can cause stroke.
Abstract: The goal of image segmentation is to cluster pixels
into salient image regions. Segmentation could be used for object
recognition, occlusion boundary estimation within motion or stereo
systems, image compression, image editing, or image database lookup.
In this paper, we present a color image segmentation using
support vector machine (SVM) pixel classification. Firstly, the pixel
level color and texture features of the image are extracted and they
are used as input to the SVM classifier. These features are extracted
using the homogeneity model and Gabor Filter. With the extracted
pixel level features, the SVM Classifier is trained by using FCM
(Fuzzy C-Means).The image segmentation takes the advantage of
both the pixel level information of the image and also the ability of
the SVM Classifier. The Experiments show that the proposed method
has a very good segmentation result and a better efficiency, increases
the quality of the image segmentation compared with the other
segmentation methods proposed in the literature.
Abstract: As the economies of other countries in the
Mediterranean Basin, the tourism sector in our country has a high
denominator in economics. Tourism businesses, which are building
blocks of tourism, sector faces with a variety of problems during their
activities. These problems faced make business efficiency and
competition conditions of the businesses difficult. Most of the
problems faced by the tourism businesses and the information of
consumers about consumers’ rights were used in this study, which is
conducted to determine the problems of tourism businesses in the
Central Anatolia Region. It is aimed to contribute the awareness of

Abstract: The aim of research was to define the relations
between volatile compounds, some parameters (pH, titratable acidity
(TA), total soluble solid (TSS), lactic acid bacteria count) and
consumer preference of commercial fermented milks. These relations
tend to be used for controlling and developing new fermented milk
product. Three leading commercial brands of fermented milks in
Thailand were evaluated by consumers (n=71) using hedonic scale
for four attributes (sweetness, sourness, flavour, and overall liking),
volatile compounds using headspace-solid phase microextraction
(HS-SPME) GC-MS, pH, TA, TSS and LAB count. Then the
relations were analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA). The
PCA data showed that all of four attributes liking scores were related
to each other. They were also related to TA, TSS and volatile
compounds. The related volatile compounds were mainly on
fermented produced compounds including acetic acid, furanmethanol,
furfural, octanoic acid and the volatiles known as artificial fruit
flavour (beta pinene, limonene, vanillin, and ethyl vanillin). These
compounds were provided the information about flavour addition in
commercial fermented milk in Thailand.
Abstract: The planning of geological survey works is an
iterative process which involves planner, geologist, civil engineer and
other stakeholders, who perform different roles and have different
points of view. Traditionally, the team used paper maps or CAD
drawings to present the proposal which is not an efficient way to
present and share idea on the site investigation proposal such as
sitting of borehole location or seismic survey lines. This paper
focuses on how a GIS approach can be utilised to develop a webbased
system to support decision making process in the planning of
geological survey works and also to plan site activities carried out by
Singapore Geological Office (SGO). The authors design a framework
of building an interactive web-based GIS system, and develop a
prototype, which enables the users to obtain rapidly existing
geological information and also to plan interactively borehole
locations and seismic survey lines via a web browser. This prototype
system is used daily by SGO and has shown to be effective in
increasing efficiency and productivity as the time taken in the
planning of geological survey works is shortened. The prototype
system has been developed using the ESRI ArcGIS API 3.7 for Flex
which is based on the ArcGIS 10.2.1 platform.
Abstract: Non-linear FEM calculations are indispensable when
important technical information like operating performance of a
rubber component is desired. For example rubber bumpers built into
air-spring structures may undergo large deformations under load,
which in itself shows non-linear behavior. The changing contact
range between the parts and the incompressibility of the rubber
increases this non-linear behavior further. The material
characterization of an elastomeric component is also a demanding
engineering task.
The shape optimization problem of rubber parts led to the study of
FEM based calculation processes. This type of problems was posed
and investigated by several authors. In this paper the time demand of
certain calculation methods are studied and the possibilities of time
reduction is presented.
Abstract: The web’s increased popularity has included a huge
amount of information, due to which automated web page
classification systems are essential to improve search engines’
performance. Web pages have many features like HTML or XML
tags, hyperlinks, URLs and text contents which can be considered
during an automated classification process. It is known that Webpage
classification is enhanced by hyperlinks as it reflects Web page
linkages. The aim of this study is to reduce the number of features to
be used to improve the accuracy of the classification of web pages. In
this paper, a novel feature selection method using an improved
Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) using principle of evolution is
proposed. The extracted features were tested on the WebKB dataset
using a parallel Neural Network to reduce the computational cost.

to their in-house technological abilities. This paper tries to
study the various knowledge based incentive programmes and its
effect on Knowledge Sharing and Learning in the context of the
Indian IT sector. A conceptual model is developed linking KM
Incentives, Knowledge Sharing and Learning. A questionnaire study
is conducted to collect primary data from the knowledge workers of
the IT organizations located in India. The data was analysed using
Structural Equation Modeling using Partial Least Square method. The
results show a strong influence of knowledge management incentives
on knowledge sharing and an indirect influence on learning.
Abstract: The development of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
into a regional trade, tourism, finance and logistics hub has
transformed its real estate markets. However, speculative activity and
price volatility remain concerns. UAE residential market values
(MV) are exposed to fluctuations in capital flows and migration
which, in turn, are affected by geopolitical uncertainty, oil price
volatility and global investment market sentiment. Internally, a
complex interplay between administrative boundaries, land tenure,
building quality and evolving location characteristics fragments UAE
residential property markets. In short, the UAE Residential Valuation
System (UAE-RVS) confronts multiple challenges to collect, filter
and analyze relevant information in complex and dynamic spatial and
capital markets. A robust (RVS) can mitigate the risk of unhelpful
volatility, speculative excess or investment mistakes. The research
outlines the institutional, ontological, dynamic and epistemological
issues at play. We highlight the importance of system capabilities,
valuation standard salience and stakeholders trust.
Abstract: With increasingly more mobile health applications
appearing due to the popularity of smartphones, the possibility arises
that these data can be used to improve the medical diagnostic process,
as well as the overall quality of healthcare, while at the same time
lowering costs. However, as of yet there have been no reports of a
successful combination of patient-generated data from smartphones
with data from clinical routine. In this paper we describe how these
two types of data can be combined in a secure way without
modification to hospital information systems, and how they can
together be used in a medical expert system for automatic nutritional
classification and triage.
Abstract: A large amount of data is typically stored in relational
databases (DB). The latter can efficiently handle user queries which
intend to elicit the appropriate information from data sources.
However, direct access and use of this data requires the end users to
have an adequate technical background, while they should also cope
with the internal data structure and values presented. Consequently
the information retrieval is a quite difficult process even for IT or DB
experts, taking into account the limited contributions of relational
databases from the conceptual point of view. Ontologies enable users
to formally describe a domain of knowledge in terms of concepts and
relations among them and hence they can be used for unambiguously
specifying the information captured by the relational database.
However, accessing information residing in a database using
ontologies is feasible, provided that the users are keen on using
semantic web technologies. For enabling users form different
disciplines to retrieve the appropriate data, the design of a Graphical
User Interface is necessary. In this work, we will present an
interactive, ontology-based, semantically enable web tool that can be
used for information retrieval purposes. The tool is totally based on
the ontological representation of underlying database schema while it
provides a user friendly environment through which the users can
graphically form and execute their queries.
Abstract: Large-scale data stream analysis has become one of
the important business and research priorities lately. Social networks
like Twitter and other micro-blogging platforms hold an enormous
amount of data that is large in volume, velocity and variety.
Extracting valuable information and trends out of these data would
aid in a better understanding and decision-making. Multiple analysis
techniques are deployed for English content. Moreover, one of the
languages that produce a large amount of data over social networks
and is least analyzed is the Arabic language. The proposed paper is a
survey on the research efforts to analyze the Arabic content in
Twitter focusing on the tools and methods used to extract the
sentiments for the Arabic content on Twitter.
Abstract: Every machine plays roles of client and server
simultaneously in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. Though a P2P
network has many advantages over traditional client-server models
regarding efficiency and fault-tolerance, it also faces additional
security threats. Users/IT administrators should be aware of risks
from malicious code propagation, downloaded content legality, and
P2P software’s vulnerabilities. Security and preventative measures
are a must to protect networks from potential sensitive information
leakage and security breaches. Bit Torrent is a popular and scalable
P2P file distribution mechanism which successfully distributes large
files quickly and efficiently without problems for origin server. Bit
Torrent achieved excellent upload utilization according to
measurement studies, but it also raised many questions as regards
utilization in settings, than those measuring, fairness, and Bit
Torrent’s mechanisms choice. This work proposed a block selection
technique using Fuzzy ACO with optimal rules selected using ACO.

Abstract: This paper presents an efficient fusion algorithm for
iris images to generate stable feature for recognition in unconstrained
environment. Recently, iris recognition systems are focused on real
scenarios in our daily life without the subject’s cooperation. Under
large variation in the environment, the objective of this paper is to
combine information from multiple images of the same iris. The
result of image fusion is a new image which is more stable for further
iris recognition than each original noise iris image. A wavelet-based
approach for multi-resolution image fusion is applied in the fusion
process. The detection of the iris image is based on Adaboost
algorithm and then local binary pattern (LBP) histogram is then
applied to texture classification with the weighting scheme.
Experiment showed that the generated features from the proposed
fusion algorithm can improve the performance for verification system
through iris recognition.

Abstract: It is important to take security measures to protect
your computer information, reduce identify theft, and prevent from
malicious cyber-attacks. With cyber-attacks on the continuous rise,
people need to understand and learn ways to prevent from these
attacks. Cyber-attack is an important factor to be considered if one is
to be able to protect oneself from malicious attacks. Without proper
security measures, most computer technology would hinder home
users more than such technologies would help. Knowledge of how
cyber-attacks operate and protective steps that can be taken to reduce
chances of its occurrence are key to increasing these security
measures. The purpose of this paper is to inform home users on the
importance of identifying and taking preventive steps to avoid cyberattacks.
Throughout this paper, many aspects of cyber-attacks will be
discuss: what a cyber-attack is, the affects of cyber-attack for home
users, different types of cyber-attacks, methodology to prevent such
attacks; home users can take to fortify security of their computer.
Abstract: Generally the natural environment is made up of air,
water and soil. The release of emission of industrial waste into
anyone of the components of the environment causes pollution.
Industrial pollution significantly threatens the inherent right of
people, to the enjoyment of a safe and secure environment. The aim
of this paper is to assess the effect of environmental pollution and
health risks of residents living near Ewekoro cement factory. The
research made use of IKONOS imagery for Geographical
Information System (GIS) to buffer and extract buildings that are less
than 1km to the factory, within 1km to 5km and above 5km to the
factory. Also questionnaire was used to elicit information on the
socio-economic factors, effect of environmental pollution on
residents and measures adopted to control industrial pollution on the
residents. Findings show that most buildings that fall between less
than 1km and 1km to 5km to the factory have high health risk in the
study area. The study recommended total relocation for the residents
of the study area to reduce health risk problems.
Abstract: Random epistemologies and hash tables have garnered
minimal interest from both security experts and experts in the last
several years. In fact, few information theorists would disagree with
the evaluation of expert systems. In our research, we discover how
flip-flop gates can be applied to the study of superpages. Though
such a hypothesis at first glance seems perverse, it is derived from
known results.
Abstract: For the treatment of acute and chronic lung diseases it is preferred to deliver medicaments by inhalation. The drug is delivered directly to tracheobronchial tree. This way allows the given medicament to get directly into the place of action and it makes rapid onset of action and maximum efficiency. The transport of aerosol particles in the particular part of the lung is influenced by their size, anatomy of the lungs, breathing pattern and airway resistance. This article deals with calculation of airway resistance in the lung model of Horsfield. It solves the problem of determination of the pressure losses in bifurcation and thus defines the pressure drop at a given location in the bronchial tree. The obtained data will be used as boundary conditions for transport of aerosol particles in a central part of bronchial tree realized by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) approach. The results obtained from CFD simulation will allow us to provide information on the required particle size and optimal inhalation technique for particle transport into particular part of the lung.
