Abstract: Prior literature in the field of adaptive and
personalized learning sequence in e-learning have proposed and
implemented various mechanisms to improve the learning process
such as individualization and personalization, but complex to
implement due to expensive algorithmic programming and need of
extensive and prior data. The main objective of personalizing
learning sequence is to maximize learning by dynamically selecting
the closest teaching operation in order to achieve the learning
competency of learner. In this paper, a revolutionary technique has
been proposed and tested to perform individualization and
personalization using modified reversed roulette wheel selection
algorithm that runs at O(n). The technique is simpler to implement
and is algorithmically less expensive compared to other revolutionary
algorithms since it collects the dynamic real time performance matrix
such as examinations, reviews, and study to form the RWSA single
numerical fitness value. Results show that the implemented system is
capable of recommending new learning sequences that lessens time
of study based on student's prior knowledge and real performance
matrix.
Abstract: In this paper, we have reported birefringence
manipulation in regenerated high birefringent fiber Bragg grating
(RPMG) by using CO2 laser annealing method. The results indicate
that the birefringence of RPMG remains unchanged after CO2 laser
annealing followed by slow cooling process, but reduced after fast
cooling process (~5.6×10-5). After a series of annealing procedures
with different cooling rates, the obtained results show that slower the
cooling rate, higher the birefringence of RPMG. The volume, thermal
expansion coefficient (TEC) and glass transition temperature (Tg)
change of stress applying part in RPMG during cooling process are
responsible for the birefringence change. Therefore, these findings
are important to the RPMG sensor in high and dynamic temperature
environment. The measuring accuracy, range and sensitivity of
RPMG sensor is greatly affected by its birefringence value. This
work also opens up a new application of CO2 laser for fiber annealing
and birefringence modification.
Abstract: Given the increase in the number of e-commerce sites,
the number of competitors has become very important. This means
that companies have to take appropriate decisions in order to meet the
expectations of their customers and satisfy their needs. In this paper,
we present a case study of applying LRFM (length, recency,
frequency and monetary) model and clustering techniques in the
sector of electronic commerce with a view to evaluating customers’
values of the Moroccan e-commerce websites and then developing
effective marketing strategies. To achieve these objectives, we adopt
LRFM model by applying a two-stage clustering method. In the first
stage, the self-organizing maps method is used to determine the best
number of clusters and the initial centroid. In the second stage, kmeans
method is applied to segment 730 customers into nine clusters
according to their L, R, F and M values. The results show that the
cluster 6 is the most important cluster because the average values of
L, R, F and M are higher than the overall average value. In addition,
this study has considered another variable that describes the mode of
payment used by customers to improve and strengthen clusters’
analysis. The clusters’ analysis demonstrates that the payment method is
one of the key indicators of a new index which allows to assess the
level of customers’ confidence in the company's Website.
Abstract: The practical efficient approach is suggested for
estimation of the seismoacoustic sources energy in C-OTDR
monitoring systems. This approach is represents the sequential plan
for confidence estimation both the seismoacoustic sources energy, as
well the absorption coefficient of the soil. The sequential plan
delivers the non-asymptotic guaranteed accuracy of obtained
estimates in the form of non-asymptotic confidence regions with
prescribed sizes. These confidence regions are valid for a finite
sample size when the distributions of the observations are unknown.
Thus, suggested estimates are non-asymptotic and nonparametric,
and also these estimates guarantee the prescribed estimation accuracy
in form of prior prescribed size of confidence regions, and prescribed
confidence coefficient value.
Abstract: Mineral oil is commonly used for high voltage
transformer insulation. The insulation quality of mineral oil is
affecting the operation process of high voltage transformer. There are
many contaminations which could decrease the insulation quality of
mineral oil. One of them is water. This research talks about the effect
of water content on dielectric properties, physic properties, and
partial discharge pattern on mineral oil. Samples were varied with 10
varieties of water content value. And then all samples would be tested
to measure the dielectric properties, physic properties, and partial
discharge pattern. The result of this research showed that an
increment of water content value would decrease the insulation
quality of mineral oil.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the single-item
continuous review inventory system in which demand is stochastic
and discrete. The budget consumed for purchasing the ordered items
is not restricted but it incurs extra cost when exceeding specific
value. The unit purchasing price depends on the quantity ordered
under the all-units discounts cost structure. In many actual systems,
the budget as a resource which is occupied by the purchased items is
limited and the system is able to confront the resource shortage by
charging more costs. Thus, considering the resource shortage costs as
a part of system costs, especially when the amount of resource
occupied by the purchased item is influenced by quantity discounts,
is well motivated by practical concerns. In this paper, an optimization
problem is formulated for finding the optimal (r, Q) policy, when the
system is influenced by the budget limitation and a discount pricing
simultaneously. Properties of the cost function are investigated and
then an algorithm based on a one-dimensional search procedure is
proposed for finding an optimal (r, Q) policy which minimizes the
expected system costs.

Abstract: Biodiesel is one of the alternative fuels that promising
for substituting petro diesel as energy source which is advantage on
sustainability and ecofriendly. Due to the raw material that tend to
decompose during storage, biodiesel also have the same characteristic
that tend to decompose and formed higher acid value which is the
result of oxidation to double bond on a chain of ester. Decomposition of biodiesel due to oxidation reaction could
prevent by introduce a small amount of antioxidant. The origin of raw
materials and the process for producing biodiesel will determine the
effectiveness of antioxidant. The quality degradation on biodiesel
could evaluate by measuring iodine value and acid number of
biodiesel. Biodiesel made from high fatty acid Jatropha curcas oil by using
esterification and transesterification process will stand on the quality
by introduce 90 ppm pyrogallol powder on the biodiesel, which could
increase Induction period time from 2 hours to more than 6 hours in
rancimat test evaluation.

Abstract: Several parameters are established in order to measure
biodiesel quality. One of them is the iodine value, which is an
important parameter that measures the total unsaturation within a
mixture of fatty acids. Limitation of unsaturated fatty acids is
necessary since warming of higher quantity of these ones ends in
either formation of deposits inside the motor or damage of lubricant.
Determination of iodine value by official procedure tends to be very
laborious, with high costs and toxicity of the reagents, this study uses
artificial neural network (ANN) in order to predict the iodine value
property as an alternative to these problems. The methodology of
development of networks used 13 esters of fatty acids in the input
with convergence algorithms of back propagation of back
propagation type were optimized in order to get an architecture of
prediction of iodine value. This study allowed us to demonstrate the
neural networks’ ability to learn the correlation between biodiesel
quality properties, in this caseiodine value, and the molecular
structures that make it up. The model developed in the study reached
a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.99 for both network validation and
network simulation, with Levenberg-Maquardt algorithm.
Abstract: In this work new macroporous Ni electrodes modified
with Au nanoparticles for hydrogen production have been developed.
The supporting macroporous Ni electrodes have been obtained by
means of the electrodeposition at high current densities. Then, the Au
nanoparticles were synthesized and added to the electrode surface.
The electrocatalytic behaviour of the developed electrocatalysts was
studied by means of pseudo-steady-state polarization curves,
electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and hydrogen
discharge curves. The size of the Au synthetized nanoparticles shows
a monomodal distribution, with a very sharp band between 10 and 50
nm. The characteristic parameters d10, d50 and d90 were 14, 20 and
31 nm respectively. From Tafel polarization data has been concluded
that the Au nanoparticles improve the catalytic activity of the
developed electrodes towards the HER respect to the macroporous Ni
electrodes. EIS permits to obtain the electrochemically active area by
means of the roughness factor value. All the developed electrodes
show roughness factor values in the same order of magnitude. From
the activation energy results it can be concluded that the Au
nanoparticles improve the intrinsic catalytic activity of the
macroporous Ni electrodes.
Abstract: This paper presents a new automatic vehicle detection
method from very high resolution aerial images to measure traffic
density. The proposed method starts by extracting road regions from
image using road vector data. Then, the road image is divided into
equal sections considering resolution of the images. Gradient vectors
of the road image are computed from edge map of the corresponding
image. Gradient vectors on the each boundary of the sections are
divided where the gradient vectors significantly change their
directions. Finally, number of vehicles in each section is carried out
by calculating the standard deviation of the gradient vectors in each
group and accepting the group as vehicle that has standard deviation
above predefined threshold value. The proposed method was tested in
four very high resolution aerial images acquired from Istanbul,
Turkey which illustrate roads and vehicles with diverse
characteristics. The results show the reliability of the proposed
method in detecting vehicles by producing 86% overall F1 accuracy
value.
Abstract: This paper proposed the comparison made between
Multi-Carrier Pulse Width Modulation, Sinusoidal Pulse Width
Modulation and Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width
Modulation technique for minimization of Total Harmonic Distortion
in Cascaded H-Bridge Multi-Level Inverter. In Multicarrier Pulse
Width Modulation method by using Alternate Position of Disposition
scheme for switching pulse generation to Multi-Level Inverter.
Another carrier based approach; Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation
method is also implemented to define the switching pulse generation
system in the multi-level inverter. In Selective Harmonic Elimination
method using Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization
algorithm for define the required switching angles to eliminate low
order harmonics from the inverter output voltage waveform and
reduce the total harmonic distortion value. So, the results validate that
the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation method
does capably eliminate a great number of precise harmonics and
minimize the Total Harmonic Distortion value in output voltage
waveform in compared with Multi-Carrier Pulse Width Modulation
method, Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation method. In this paper,
comparison of simulation results shows that the Selective Harmonic
Elimination method can attain optimal harmonic minimization
solution better than Multi-Carrier Pulse Width Modulation method,
Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation method.
Abstract: We report herein the development and preliminary mechanical characterization of fully-dense multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-reinforced ceramics and glasses based on a completely new methodology termed High Shear Compaction (HSC). The tubes are introduced and bound to the matrix grains by aid of polymeric binders to form flexible green bodies which are sintered and densified by spark plasma sintering to unprecedentedly high densities of 100% of the pure-matrix value. The strategy was validated across a PyrexTM glass / MWCNT composite while no identifiable factors limit application to other types of matrices. Nondestructive evaluation, based on ultrasonics, of the dynamic mechanical properties of the materials including elastic, shear and bulk modulus as well as Poisson’s ratio showed optimum property improvement at 0.5 %wt tube loading while evidence of nanoscalespecific energy dissipative characteristics acting complementary to nanotube bridging and pull-out indicate a high potential in a wide range of reinforcing and multifunctional applications.
Abstract: Image Processing is a structure of Signal Processing
for which the input is the image and the output is also an image or
parameter of the image. Image Resolution has been frequently
referred as an important aspect of an image. In Image Resolution
Enhancement, images are being processed in order to obtain more
enhanced resolution. To generate highly resoluted image for a low
resoluted input image with high PSNR value. Stationary Wavelet
Transform is used for Edge Detection and minimize the loss occurs
during Downsampling. Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transform is to get
highly resoluted image. Highly resoluted output is generated from the
Low resolution input with high quality. Noisy input will generate
output with low PSNR value. So Noisy resolution enhancement
technique has been used for adaptive sub-band thresholding is used.
Downsampling in each of the DWT subbands causes information loss
in the respective subbands. SWT is employed to minimize this loss.
Inverse Discrete wavelet transform (IDWT) is to convert the object
which is downsampled using DWT into a highly resoluted object.
Used Image denoising and resolution enhancement techniques will
generate image with high PSNR value. Our Proposed method will
improve Image Resolution and reached the optimized threshold.
Abstract: A reliability-based methodology which uses structural demand hazard curves to consider the increment of the ductility demands of structures with tilting is proposed. The approach considers the effect of two orthogonal components of the ground motions as well as the influence of soil-structure interaction. The approach involves the calculation of ductility demand hazard curves for symmetric systems and, alternatively, for systems with different degrees of asymmetry. To get this objective, demand hazard curves corresponding to different global ductility demands of the systems are calculated. Next, Uniform Exceedance Rate Spectra (UERS) are developed for a specific mean annual rate of exceedance value. Ratios between UERS corresponding to asymmetric and to symmetric systems located in soft soil of the valley of Mexico are obtained. Results indicate that the ductility demands corresponding to tilted structures may be several times higher than those corresponding to symmetric structures, depending on several factors such as tilting angle and vibration period of structure and soil.
Abstract: This paper introduces an original method for
guaranteed estimation of the accuracy for an ensemble of Lipschitz
classifiers. The solution was obtained as a finite closed set of
alternative hypotheses, which contains an object of classification with
probability of not less than the specified value. Thus, the
classification is represented by a set of hypothetical classes. In this
case, the smaller the cardinality of the discrete set of hypothetical
classes is, the higher is the classification accuracy. Experiments have
shown that if cardinality of the classifiers ensemble is increased then
the cardinality of this set of hypothetical classes is reduced. The
problem of the guaranteed estimation of the accuracy for an ensemble
of Lipschitz classifiers is relevant in multichannel classification of
target events in C-OTDR monitoring systems. Results of suggested
approach practical usage to accuracy control in C-OTDR monitoring
systems are present.
