The robot consists of DC motors for arm movements and it is
controlled manually through a mobile phone through DTMF
Technology. The system enables the surgeon from base station to
send commands through mobile phone to the patient’s robotic system
which includes two robotic arms that translate the input into actual
instrument manipulation. A mobile phone attached to the
microcontroller 8051 which can activate robot through relays. The
Remote robot-assisted tele surgery eliminates geographic constraints
for getting surgical expertise where it is needed and allows an expert
surgeon to teach or proctor the performance of surgical technique by
real-time intervention.
Abstract: In order to accelerate the similarity search in highdimensional database, we propose a new hierarchical indexing method. It is composed of offline and online phases. Our contribution concerns both phases. In the offline phase, after gathering the whole of the data in clusters and constructing a hierarchical index, the main originality of our contribution consists to develop a method to construct bounding forms of clusters to avoid overlapping. For the online phase, our idea improves considerably performances of similarity search. However, for this second phase, we have also developed an adapted search algorithm. Our method baptized NOHIS (Non-Overlapping Hierarchical Index Structure) use the Principal Direction Divisive Partitioning (PDDP) as algorithm of clustering. The principle of the PDDP is to divide data recursively into two sub-clusters; division is done by using the hyper-plane orthogonal to the principal direction derived from the covariance matrix and passing through the centroid of the cluster to divide. Data of each two sub-clusters obtained are including by a minimum bounding rectangle (MBR). The two MBRs are directed according to the principal direction. Consequently, the nonoverlapping between the two forms is assured. Experiments use databases containing image descriptors. Results show that the proposed method outperforms sequential scan and SRtree in processing k-nearest neighbors.
Abstract: To determine the presence and location of faults in a transmission by the adaptation of protective distance relay based on the measurement of fixed settings as line impedance is achieved by several different techniques. Moreover, a fast, accurate and robust technique for real-time purposes is required for the modern power systems. The appliance of radial basis function neural network in transmission line protection is demonstrated in this paper. The method applies the power system via voltage and current signals to learn the hidden relationship presented in the input patterns. It is experiential that the proposed technique is competent to identify the particular fault direction more speedily. System simulations studied show that the proposed approach is able to distinguish the direction of a fault on a transmission line swiftly and correctly, therefore suitable for the real-time purposes.
Abstract: In order to obtain an accurate result of the heat transfer
of the rib in the internal cooling Rectangular channel, using separation
of variables, analytical solutions of three dimensional steady-state heat
conduction in rectangular ribs are given by solving three dimensional
steady-state function of the rectangular ribs. Therefore, we can get
solution of three dimensional temperature field in the rib. Based on the
solution, we can get how the Bi number affected on heat transfer.
Furthermore, comparisons of the analytical and numerical results
indicate agreement on temperature field in the rib.

The proofs of the stability of the proposed scheme and the uniqueness of the discrete solution are given. Moreover, the error estimates of the scalar unknown, its gradient and its flux in the L1( ¯ J,L2( )-norm are obtained.
Abstract: Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks pose a
serious threat to network security. There have been a lot of
methodologies and tools devised to detect DDoS attacks and reduce
the damage they cause. Still, most of the methods cannot
simultaneously achieve (1) efficient detection with a small number of
false alarms and (2) real-time transfer of packets. Here, we introduce
a method for proactive detection of DDoS attacks, by classifying the
network status, to be utilized in the detection stage of the proposed
anti-DDoS framework. Initially, we analyse the DDoS architecture
and obtain details of its phases. Then, we investigate the procedures
of DDoS attacks and select variables based on these features. Finally,
we apply the k-nearest neighbour (k-NN) method to classify the
network status into each phase of DDoS attack. The simulation result
showed that each phase of the attack scenario is classified well and
we could detect DDoS attack in the early stage.

Abstract: In this paper we propose segmentation approach based
on Vector Quantization technique. Here we have used Kekre-s fast
codebook generation algorithm for segmenting low-altitude aerial
image. This is used as a preprocessing step to form segmented
homogeneous regions. Further to merge adjacent regions color
similarity and volume difference criteria is used. Experiments
performed with real aerial images of varied nature demonstrate that
this approach does not result in over segmentation or under
segmentation. The vector quantization seems to give far better results
as compared to conventional on-the-fly watershed algorithm.
Abstract: In this paper we present simulation results for the
application of a bandwidth efficient algorithm (mapping algorithm)
to an image transmission system. This system considers three
different real valued transforms to generate energy compact
coefficients. First results are presented for gray scale and color image
transmission in the absence of noise. It is seen that the system
performs its best when discrete cosine transform is used. Also the
performance of the system is dominated more by the size of the
transform block rather than the number of coefficients transmitted or
the number of bits used to represent each coefficient. Similar results
are obtained in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise. The
varying values of the bit error rate have very little or no impact on
the performance of the algorithm. Optimum results are obtained for
the system considering 8x8 transform block and by transmitting 15
coefficients from each block using 8 bits.
Abstract: 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) is a recalcitrant micropollutant which is found in small amounts in municipal wastewater. But these small amounts still adversely affect for the reproductive function of aquatic organisms. Evidence in the past suggested that full-scale WWTPs equipped with nitrification process enhanced the removal of EE2 in the municipal wastewater. EE2 has been proven to be able to be transformed by ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) via co-metabolism. This research aims to clarify the EE2 degradation pattern by different consortium of ammonia oxidizing microorganism (AOM) including AOA (ammonia oxidizing archaea) and investigate contribution between the existing ammonia monooxygenase (AMO) and new synthesized AOM. The result showed that AOA or AOB of N. oligotropha cluster in enriched nitrifying activated sludge (NAS) from 2mM and 5mM, commonly found in municipal WWTPs, could degrade EE2 in wastewater via co-metabolism. Moreover, the investigation of the contribution between the existing ammonia monooxygenase (AMO) and new synthesized AOM demonstrated that the new synthesized AMO enzyme may perform ammonia oxidation rather than the existing AMO enzyme or the existing AMO enzyme may has a small amount to oxidize ammonia.
Abstract: This paper is aimed at describing a delay-based endto-
end (e2e) congestion control algorithm, called Very FAST TCP
(VFAST), which is an enhanced version of FAST TCP. The main
idea behind this enhancement is to smoothly estimate the Round-Trip
Time (RTT) based on a nonlinear filter, which eliminates throughput
and queue oscillation when RTT fluctuates. In this context, an evaluation
of the suggested scheme through simulation is introduced, by
comparing our VFAST prototype with FAST in terms of throughput,
queue behavior, fairness, stability, RTT and adaptivity to changes in
network. The achieved simulation results indicate that the suggested
protocol offer better performance than FAST TCP in terms of RTT
estimation and throughput.
Abstract: Developing techniques for mobile robot navigation constitutes one of the major trends in the current
research on mobile robotics. This paper develops a local
model network (LMN) for mobile robot navigation. The
LMN represents the mobile robot by a set of locally valid
submodels that are Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLPs).
Training these submodels employs Back Propagation (BP) algorithm. The paper proposes the fuzzy C-means (FCM) in this scheme to divide the input space to sub regions, and then a submodel (MLP) is identified to represent a particular
region. The submodels then are combined in a unified
structure. In run time phase, Radial Basis Functions (RBFs) are employed as windows for the activated submodels. This
proposed structure overcomes the problem of changing operating regions of mobile robots. Read data are used in all experiments. Results for mobile robot navigation using the
proposed LMN reflect the soundness of the proposed
scheme.
Abstract: Censored Production Rule is an extension of standard
production rule, which is concerned with problems of reasoning with
incomplete information, subject to resource constraints and problem
of reasoning efficiently with exceptions. A CPR has a form: IF A
(Condition) THEN B (Action) UNLESS C (Censor), Where C is the
exception condition. Fuzzy CPR are obtained by augmenting
ordinary fuzzy production rule “If X is A then Y is B with an
exception condition and are written in the form “If X is A then Y is B
Unless Z is C. Such rules are employed in situation in which the
fuzzy conditional statement “If X is A then Y is B" holds frequently
and the exception condition “Z is C" holds rarely. Thus “If X is A
then Y is B" part of the fuzzy CPR express important information
while the unless part acts only as a switch that changes the polarity of
“Y is B" to “Y is not B" when the assertion “Z is C" holds. The
proposed approach is an attempt to discover fuzzy censored
production rules from set of discovered fuzzy if then rules in the
form:
A(X)  B(Y) || C(Z).
Abstract: Biclustering aims at identifying several biclusters that
reveal potential local patterns from a microarray matrix. A bicluster is
a sub-matrix of the microarray consisting of only a subset of genes
co-regulates in a subset of conditions. In this study, we extend the
motif of subspace clustering to present a K-biclusters clustering (KBC)
algorithm for the microarray biclustering issue. Besides minimizing
the dissimilarities between genes and bicluster centers within all
biclusters, the objective function of the KBC algorithm additionally
takes into account how to minimize the residues within all biclusters
based on the mean square residue model. In addition, the objective
function also maximizes the entropy of conditions to stimulate more
conditions to contribute the identification of biclusters. The KBC
algorithm adopts the K-means type clustering process to efficiently
make the partition of K biclusters be optimized. A set of experiments
on a practical microarray dataset are demonstrated to show the
performance of the proposed KBC algorithm.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a dual version of the first
threshold ring signature scheme based on error-correcting code proposed
by Aguilar et. al in [1]. Our scheme uses an improvement of
Véron zero-knowledge identification scheme, which provide smaller
public and private key sizes and better computation complexity than
the Stern one. This scheme is secure in the random oracle model.
Abstract: Battery storage system is emerging as an essential component of hybrid power system based on renewable energy resources such as solar and wind in order to make these sources dispatchable. Accurate modeling of battery storage system is ssential in order to ensure optimal planning of hybrid power systems incorporating battery storage. Majority of the system planning studies involving battery storage assume battery charging efficiency to be constant. However a strong correlation exists between battery charging efficiency and battery state of charge. In this work a Fuzzy logic based model has been presented for determining battery charging efficiency relative to a particular SOC. In order to demonstrate the efficacy of proposed approach, reliability evaluation studies are carried out for a hypothetical autonomous hybrid power system located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. The impact of considering battery charging efficiency as a function of state of charge is compared against the assumption of fixed battery charging efficiency for three different configurations comprising of wind-storage, solar-storage and wind-solar-storage.
Abstract: Mobile Picture Puzzle is a mobile game application where the player use existing images stored in the mobile phone to create a puzzle to be played. This traditional picture puzzle is not so challenging once the player is familiar with the game. The objective of the developed mobile game application is to have a similar mobile game application that can provide the player with more challenging gaming experience. The developed mobile game application is also a mobile picture puzzle game application to create a puzzle to be played but instead of just using existing images that are stored, the personalised capability allows the player to use the built-in camera phone to capture an image and use the newly captured image to create the puzzle. The development of the mobile game application uses Symbian Operating System (OS), Mobile Media API (Application Programming Interface), Record Management System (RMS) storage and TiledLayer class from Game API.
Abstract: Many digital signal processing, techniques have been used to automatically distinguish protein coding regions (exons) from non-coding regions (introns) in DNA sequences. In this work, we have characterized these sequences according to their nonlinear dynamical features such as moment invariants, correlation dimension, and largest Lyapunov exponent estimates. We have applied our model to a number of real sequences encoded into a time series using EIIP sequence indicators. In order to discriminate between coding and non coding DNA regions, the phase space trajectory was first reconstructed for coding and non-coding regions. Nonlinear dynamical features are extracted from those regions and used to investigate a difference between them. Our results indicate that the nonlinear dynamical characteristics have yielded significant differences between coding (CR) and non-coding regions (NCR) in DNA sequences. Finally, the classifier is tested on real genes where coding and non-coding regions are well known.
Abstract: Technology of thin film deposition is of interest in
many engineering fields, from electronic manufacturing to corrosion
protective coating. A typical deposition process, like that developed
at the University of Eindhoven, considers the deposition of a thin,
amorphous film of C:H or of Si:H on the substrate, using the
Expanding Thermal arc Plasma technique. In this paper a computing
procedure is proposed to simulate the flow field in a deposition
chamber similar to that at the University of Eindhoven and a
sensitivity analysis is carried out in terms of: precursor mass flow
rate, electrical power, supplied to the torch and fluid-dynamic
characteristics of the plasma jet, using different nozzles. To this
purpose a deposition chamber similar in shape, dimensions and
operating parameters to the above mentioned chamber is considered.
Furthermore, a method is proposed for a very preliminary evaluation
of the film thickness distribution on the substrate. The computing
procedure relies on two codes working in tandem; the output from
the first code is the input to the second one. The first code simulates
the flow field in the torch, where Argon is ionized according to the
Saha-s equation, and in the nozzle. The second code simulates the
flow field in the chamber. Due to high rarefaction level, this is a
(commercial) Direct Simulation Monte Carlo code. Gas is a mixture
of 21 chemical species and 24 chemical reactions from Argon plasma
and Acetylene are implemented in both codes. The effects of the
above mentioned operating parameters are evaluated and discussed
by 2-D maps and profiles of some important thermo-fluid-dynamic
parameters, as per Mach number, velocity and temperature. Intensity,
position and extension of the shock wave are evaluated and the
influence of the above mentioned test conditions on the film
thickness and uniformity of distribution are also evaluated.

airplane has been proposed without landing gear systems in order to
reducing accidents, time consumption, and to eliminating drawbacks
by using superconducting levitation phenomenon. This invention of
an airplane with superconductive material coating, on the solar plexus
region assist to reduce weight by approximately 4% of the total takeoff
weight, and cost effective. Moreover, we conjectured that
superconductor landing system reduces ground friction, mission fuel,
total drag, take-off and landing distance.
