Abstract: The objectives of memorabilia of Suan Sunandha are to develop a general knowledge presentation about the historical royal garden through interactive graphic simulation technique and to employ high-functionality context in enhancing interactive user navigation. The approach infers non-intrusive display of relevant history in response to situational context. User’s navigation runs through the virtual reality campus, consisting of new and restored buildings. A flash back presentation of information pertaining to the history in the form of photos, paintings, and textual descriptions are displayed along each passing-by building. To keep the presentation lively, graphical simulation is created in a serendipity game play so that the user can both learn and enjoy the educational tour. The benefits of this human-computer interaction development are two folds. First, lively presentation technique and situational context modeling are developed that entail a usable paradigm of knowledge and information presentation combinations. Second, cost effective training and promotion for both internal personnel and public visitors to learn and keep informed of this historical royal garden can be furnished without the need for a dedicated public relations service. Future improvement on graphic simulation and ability based display can extend this work to be more realistic, user-friendly, and informative for all.
Abstract: Textual data plays an important role in the modern
world. The possibilities of applying data mining techniques to
uncover hidden information present in large volumes of text
collections is immense. The Growing Self Organizing Map (GSOM)
is a highly successful member of the Self Organising Map family
and has been used as a clustering and visualisation tool across wide
range of disciplines to discover hidden patterns present in the data.
A comprehensive analysis of the GSOM’s capabilities as a text
clustering and visualisation tool has so far not been published. These
functionalities, namely map visualisation capabilities, automatic
cluster identification and hierarchical clustering capabilities are
presented in this paper and are further demonstrated with experiments
on a benchmark text corpus.
Abstract: Classification of persecution movement laws is
proposed. Modes of persecution in number of specific cases were
researched. Modes of movement control using GLONASS/GPS are
discussed
Abstract: Being main teaching media and major source of comprehensive target language input, teacher talk plays an important role in learners' second-language acquisition. Under the trend of "learner-centered" teaching mode, some researchers think that the best teacher talk means less. But the author holds that, in Chinese second language classroom, it is not advisable to lay too much stress on the formal students' participation, which requires the teacher to say as little as possible and the student to say as much as possible. The emphasis should be put on how to raise teacher talk's quality.
Abstract: This research investigated groundcover on the roof (green roof) which can reduce the temperature and carbon monoxide. This study is divided into 3 main aspects: 1. Types of groundcover affecting heat reduction 2. The efficiency on heat reduction of 3 types of groundcover, i.e. lawn, arachis pintoi, and purslane 3. Database for designing green roof. This study has been designed as an experimental research by simulating the 3 types of groundcover in 3 trays placed in the green house for recording the temperature change for 24 hours. The results showed that the groundcover with the highest heat reduction efficiency was lawn. The dense of the lawn can protect the heat transfer to the soil. For the further study, there should be a comparative study of the thickness and the types of soil to get more information for the suitable types of groundcover and the soil for designing the energy saving green roof.
Abstract: This research investigated the properties of
Rhizophora charcoal for product design on 3 aspects: electrical
conductor, impurity absorption, and fresh fruit shelf life. After the
study, the properties of Rhizophora charcoal were applied to produce
local product model at Ban Yisarn, Ampawa District,
Samudsongkram Province which can add value to the Rhizophora
charcoal as one of the OTOP (One-Tambon-One product). The
results showed that the Rhizophora charcoal is not an electrical
conductor but good liquid impurity absorber and it can extend fresh
fruit shelf life.
Abstract: The objective of this research is to use Rhizophora wood to design a walking stick for elderly. The research was conducted by studying the behavior and the type of walking sticks used by 70 elderly aged between 60-80 years in Pragnamdaeng Sub-District, Samudsongkram Province. Questionnaires were used to collect data which were calculated to find percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results are as follows: 1) most elderly use walking sticks due to the Osteoarthritis of the knees. 2) Most elderly need to use walking sticks because the walking sticks help to balance their positioning and prevent from stumble. 3) Most elderly agree that Rhizophora wood is suitable to make a walking stick because of its strength and toughness. 4) The design of the walking stick should be fine and practical with comfortable handle and the tip of the stick must not be slippery.
Abstract: This study aims to explore the positive effects of self-leadership and innovative behavior that'd been proven in the existing researches proactively and understand the regulation effects of smartphone addiction which has recently become an issue in Korea. This study conducted a convenient sampling of college students attending the four colleges located at Daegu. A total of 210 questionnaires in 5-point Likert scale were distributed to college students. Among which, a total of 200 questionnaires were collected for our final analysis data. Both correlation analysis and regression analysis were carried out to verify those questionnaires through SPSS 20.0. As a result, college students' self-leadership had a significantly positive impact on innovative behavior (B= .210, P= .003). In addition, it is found that the relationship between self-leadership and innovative behavior can be adjusted depending on the degree of smartphone addiction in college students (B= .264, P= .000). This study could first understand the negative effects of smartphone addiction and find that if students' self-leadership is improved in terms of self-management and unnecessary use of smartphone is controlled properly, innovative behavior can be improved. In addition, this study is significant in that it attempts to identify a new impact of smartphone addiction with the recent environmental changes, unlike the existing researches that'd been carried out from the perspective of organizational behavior theory.
Abstract: Malaria constitutes one of the major health problems
in Nigeria. One of the reasons attributed for the upsurge was the
development of resistance of Plasmodium falciparum and the
emergence of multi-resistant strains of the parasite to anti-malaria
drugs. A continued search for other effective, safe and cheap plantbased
anti-malaria agents thus becomes imperative in the face of
these difficulties. The objective of this study is therefore to evaluate
the in vivo anti-malarial efficacy of ethanolic extracts of
Chromolaena odorata and Androgaphis paniculata leaves. The two
plants were evaluated for their anti-malaria efficacy in vivo in a 4-day
curative test assay against Plasmodium berghei strain in mice. The
group treated with 500mg/ml dose of ethanolic extract of A.
paniculata plant showed parasite suppression with increase in Packed
Cell Volume (PCV) value except day 3 which showed a slight
decrease in PCV value. During the 4-day curative test, an increase in
the PCV values, weight measurement and zero count of Plasmodium
berghei parasite values was recorded after day 3 of drug
administration. These results obtained in group treated with A.
paniculata extract showed anti-malarial efficacy with higher
mortality rate in parasitaemia count when compared with
Chromolaena odorata group. These results justify the use of
ethanolic extracts of A. paniculata plant as medicinal herb used in
folklore medicine in the treatment of malaria.
Abstract: The volatile organic compounds - BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene) petroleum derivatives, have high rates of toxicity, which may carry consequences for human health, biota and environment. In this directon, this paper proposes a method of treatment of these compounds by using corona discharge plasma technology. The efficiency of the method was tested by analyzing samples of BTEX after going through a plasma reactor by gas chromatography method. The results show that the optimal residence time of the sample in the reactor was 8 minutes.
Abstract: Energy is required in almost every aspect of human activities and development of any nation in the world. Increasing fossil fuel price, energy security and climate change have important bearings on sustainable development of any nation. The renewable energy technology is considered one of the drastic approaches which taken over the world to reduce the energy problem. The preservation of vegetables by freezing is one of the most important methods of retaining quality in agricultural products over long-term storage periods. Freezing factories show high demand of energy for both heat and electricity; the hybrid Photovoltaic/Thermal (PV/T) systems could be used in order to meet this requirement. This paper presents PV/T system design for freezing factory. Also, the complete mathematical modeling and MATLAB SIMULINK of PV/T collector is introduced. The sensitivity analysis for the manufacturing parameters of PV/T collector is carried out to study their effect on both thermal and electrical efficiency.
Abstract: In this paper, the optimum design for renewable energy system powered an aquaculture pond was determined. Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER) software program, which is developed by U.S National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), is used for analyzing the feasibility of the stand alone and hybrid system in this study. HOMER program determines whether renewable energy resources satisfy hourly electric demand or not. The program calculates energy balance for every 8760 hours in a year to simulate operation of the system. This optimization compares the demand for the electrical energy for each hour of the year with the energy supplied by the system for that hour and calculates the relevant energy flow for each component in the model. The essential principle is to minimize the total system cost while HOMER ensures control of the system. Moreover the feasibility analysis of the energy system is also studied. Wind speed, solar irradiance, interest rate and capacity shortage are the parameters which are taken into consideration. The simulation results indicate that the hybrid system is the best choice in this study, yielding lower net present cost. Thus, it provides higher system performance than PV or wind stand alone systems.
Abstract: Traditional software engineering allows engineers to propose to their clients multiple specialized software distributions assembled from a shared set of software assets. The management of these assets however requires a trade-off between client satisfaction and software engineering process. Clients have more and more difficult to find a distribution or components based on their needs from all of distributed repositories.
This paper proposes a software engineering for a user-driven software product line in which engineers define a Feature Model but users drive the actual software distribution on demand. This approach makes the user become final actor as a release manager in software engineering process, increasing user product satisfaction and simplifying user operations to find required components. In addition, it provides a way for engineers to manage and assembly large software families.
As a proof of concept, a user-driven software product line is implemented for Eclipse, an integrated development environment. An Eclipse feature model is defined, which is exposed to users on a cloud-based built platform from which clients can download individualized Eclipse distributions.
Abstract: Unified Modelling Language (UML) is a software modelling language that is widely used and accepted. One significant drawback, of which, is that the language lacks formality. This makes carrying out any type of rigorous analysis difficult process. Many researchers attempt to introduce their approaches to formalise UML diagrams. However, it is always hard to decide what language and/or approach to use. Therefore, in this paper, we highlight some of the advantages and disadvantages of number of those approaches. We also try to compare different counterpart approaches. In addition, we draw some guidelines to help in choosing the suitable approach. Special concern is given to the formalisation of the static aspects of UML shown is class diagrams.
Abstract: Sudoku is a logic-based combinatorial puzzle game which is popular among people of different ages. Due to this popularity, computer softwares are being developed to generate and solve Sudoku puzzles with different levels of difficulty. Several methods and algorithms have been proposed and used in different softwares to efficiently solve Sudoku puzzles. Various search methods such as stochastic local search have been applied to this problem. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is one of the algorithms which have been applied to this problem in different forms and in several works in the literature. In these works, chromosomes with little or no information were considered and obtained results were not promising. In this paper, we propose a new way of applying GA to this problem which uses more-informed chromosomes than other works in the literature. We optimize the parameters of our GA using puzzles with different levels of difficulty. Then we use the optimized values of the parameters to solve various puzzles and compare our results to another GA-based method for solving Sudoku puzzles.
Abstract: Autonomous mobile robots can be found in a wide
field of applications. Their types range from household robots over
workshop robots to autonomous cars and many more. All of them
undergo a number of testing steps during development, production
and maintenance. This paper describes an approach to improve
testing of robot behavior. It was inspired by the RoboCup @work
competition that itself reflects a robotics benchmark for industrial
robotics. There, scaled down versions of mobile industrial robots
have to navigate through a workshop-like environment or operation
area and have to perform tasks of manipulating and transporting
work pieces. This paper will introduce an approach of automated
vision-based testing of the behavior of the so called youBot robot,
which is the most widely used robot platform in the RoboCup
@work competition. The proposed system allows automated testing
of multiple tries of the robot to perform a specific missions and
it allows for the flexibility of the robot, e.g. selecting different
paths between two tasks within a mission. The approach is based
on a multi-camera setup using, off the shelf cameras and optical
markers. It has been applied for test-driven development (TDD) and
maintenance-like verification of the robot behavior and performance.
Abstract: Mobile robotics is gaining an increasingly important
role in modern society. Several potentially dangerous or laborious
tasks for human are assigned to mobile robots, which are increasingly
capable. Many of these tasks need to be performed within a specified
period, i.e, meet a deadline. Missing the deadline can result in
financial and/or material losses. Mechanisms for predicting the
missing of deadlines are fundamental because corrective actions can
be taken to avoid or minimize the losses resulting from missing the
deadline. In this work we propose a simple but reliable deadline
missing prediction mechanism for mobile robots through the use of
historical data and we use the Pioneer 3-DX robot for experiments
and simulations, one of the most popular robots in academia.
Abstract: Recently, the use of web 2.0 tools has increased in
companies and public administration organisations. This
phenomenon, known as "Enterprise 2.0", has, de facto, modified
common organisational and operative practices. This has led
“knowledge workers” to change their working practices through the
use of Web 2.0 communication tools. Unfortunately, these tools have
not been integrated with existing enterprise information systems, a
situation that could potentially lead to a loss of information. This is
an important problem in an organisational context, because
knowledge of information exchanged within the organisation is
needed to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the
organisation. In this article we demonstrate that it is possible to
capture this knowledge using collaboration processes, which are
processes of abstraction created in accordance with design patterns
and applied to new organisational operative practices.
Abstract: Montmorillonite (MMT) is a very abundant clay mineral and is versatile such that it can be chemically or physically altered by changing the ions between the sheets of its layered structure. This clay mineral can be prepared into functional nanoparticles that can be used as fillers in other nanomaterials such as nanofibers to achieve special properties. In this study, two types of iron-modified MMT, Iron-MMT (FeMMT) and Zero Valent Iron-MMT (ZVIMMT) were synthesized via ion exchange technique. The modified clay was incorporated in polymer nanofibers which were produced using a process called electrospinning. ICP analysis confirmed that clay modification was successful where there is an observed decrease in the concentration of Na and an increase in the concentration of Fe after ion exchange. XRD analysis also confirmed that modification took place because of the changes in the d-spacing of Na-MMT from 11.5 Å to 13.6 Å and 12.6 Å after synthesis of FeMMT and ZVIMMT, respectively. SEM images of the electrospun nanofibers revealed that the ZVIMMT-filled fibers have a smaller average diameter than the FeMMT-filled fibers because of the lower resistance of the suspensions of the former to the elongation force from the applied electric field. The resistance to the electric field was measured by getting the bulk voltage of the suspensions.
Abstract: This paper describes a new efficient blind source separation method; in this method we uses a non-uniform filter bank and a new structure with different sub-bands. This method provides a reduced permutation and increased convergence speed comparing to the full-band algorithm. Recently, some structures have been suggested to deal with two problems: reducing permutation and increasing the speed of convergence of the adaptive algorithm for correlated input signals. The permutation problem is avoided with the use of adaptive filters of orders less than the full-band adaptive filter, which operate at a sampling rate lower than the sampling rate of the input signal. The decomposed signals by analysis bank filter are less correlated in each sub-band than the input signal at full-band, and can promote better rates of convergence.
