Abstract: When binary decision diagrams are formed from
uniformly distributed Monte Carlo data for a large number of
variables, the complexity of the decision diagrams exhibits a
predictable relationship to the number of variables and minterms. In
the present work, a neural network model has been used to analyze the
pattern of shortest path length for larger number of Monte Carlo data
points. The neural model shows a strong descriptive power for the
ISCAS benchmark data with an RMS error of 0.102 for the shortest
path length complexity. Therefore, the model can be considered as a
method of predicting path length complexities; this is expected to lead
to minimum time complexity of very large-scale integrated circuitries
and related computer-aided design tools that use binary decision
diagrams.
Abstract: LSP routing is among the prominent issues in MPLS
networks traffic engineering. The objective of this routing is to
increase number of the accepted requests while guaranteeing the
quality of service (QoS). Requested bandwidth is the most important
QoS criterion that is considered in literatures, and a various number
of heuristic algorithms have been presented with that regards. Many
of these algorithms prevent flows through bottlenecks of the network
in order to perform load balancing, which impedes optimum
operation of the network. Here, a modern routing algorithm is
proposed as MIRAD: having a little information of the network
topology, links residual bandwidth, and any knowledge of the
prospective requests it provides every request with a maximum
bandwidth as well as minimum end-to-end delay via uniform load
distribution across the network. Simulation results of the proposed
algorithm show a better efficiency in comparison with similar
algorithms.
Abstract: Various methods of geofield parameters restoration (by algebraic polynoms; filters; rational fractions; interpolation splines; geostatistical methods – kriging; search methods of nearest points – inverse distance, minimum curvature, local – polynomial interpolation; neural networks) have been analyzed and some possible mistakes arising during geofield surface modeling have been presented.
Abstract: This article deals with the conceptual modeling under uncertainty. First, the division of information systems with their definition will be described, focusing on those where the construction of a conceptual model is suitable for the design of future information system database. Furthermore, the disadvantages of the traditional approach in creating a conceptual model and database design will be analyzed. A comprehensive methodology for the creation of a conceptual model based on analysis of client requirements and the selection of a suitable domain model is proposed here. This article presents the expert system used for the construction of a conceptual model and is a suitable tool for database designers to create a conceptual model.
Abstract: Arc welding is an important joining process widely used in many industrial applications including production of automobile, ships structures and metal tanks. In welding process, the moving electrode causes highly non-uniform temperature distribution that leads to residual stresses and different deviations, especially buckling distortions in thin plates. In order to control the deviations and increase the quality of welded plates, a fixture can be used as a practical and low cost method with high efficiency. In this study, a coupled thermo-mechanical finite element model is coded in the software ANSYS to simulate the behavior of thin plates located by a 3-2-1 positioning system during the welding process. Computational results are compared with recent similar works to validate the finite element models. The agreement between the result of proposed model and other reported data proves that finite element modeling can accurately predict the behavior of welded thin plates.
Abstract: As far as the latest technological improvements are concerned, digital systems more become popular than the past. Despite this growing demand to the digital systems, content copy and attack against the digital cinema contents becomes a serious problem. To solve the above security problem, we propose “traceable watermarking using Hash functions for digital cinema system. Digital Cinema is a great application for traceable watermarking since it uses watermarking technology during content play as well as content transmission. The watermark is embedded into the randomly selected movie frames using CRC-32 techniques. CRC-32 is a Hash function. Using it, the embedding position is distributed by Hash Function so that any party cannot break off the watermarking or will not be able to change. Finally, our experimental results show that proposed DWT watermarking method using CRC-32 is much better than the convenient watermarking techniques in terms of robustness, image quality and its simple but unbreakable algorithm.
Abstract: Three-phase induction machines are today a standard
for industrial electrical drives. Cost, reliability, robustness and maintenance free operation are among the reasons these machines are
replacing dc drive systems. The development of power electronics
and signal processing systems has eliminated one of the greatest
disadvantages of such ac systems, which is the issue of control. With
modern techniques of field oriented vector control, the task of
variable speed control of induction machines is no longer a
disadvantage. The need to increase system performance, particularly
when facing limits on the power ratings of power supplies and
semiconductors, motivates the use of phase number other than three,
In this paper a novel scheme of connecting two, three phase
induction motors in parallel fed by two inverters; viz. VSI and CSI
and their vector control is presented.
Abstract: Efficient and safe plant operation can only be
achieved if the operators are able to monitor all key process
parameters. Instrumentation is used to measure many process
variables, like temperatures, pressures, flow rates, compositions or
other product properties. Therefore Performance monitoring is a
suitable tool for operators. In this paper, we integrate rigorous
simulation model, data reconciliation and parameter estimation to
monitor process equipments and determine key performance
indicator (KPI) of them. The applied method here has been
implemented in two case studies.
Abstract: Most integrated inertial navigation systems (INS) and
global positioning systems (GPS) have been implemented using the
Kalman filtering technique with its drawbacks related to the need for
predefined INS error model and observability of at least four
satellites. Most recently, a method using a hybrid-adaptive network
based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) has been proposed which is
trained during the availability of GPS signal to map the error
between the GPS and the INS. Then it will be used to predict the
error of the INS position components during GPS signal blockage.
This paper introduces a genetic optimization algorithm that is used to
update the ANFIS parameters with respect to the INS/GPS error
function used as the objective function to be minimized. The results
demonstrate the advantages of the genetically optimized ANFIS for
INS/GPS integration in comparison with conventional ANFIS
specially in the cases of satellites- outages. Coping with this problem
plays an important role in assessment of the fusion approach in land
navigation.
Abstract: An on chip low drop out voltage regulator that
employs elegant compensation scheme is presented in this paper. The
novelty in this design is that the device parasitic capacitances are
exploited for compensation at different loads. The proposed LDO is
designed to provide a constant voltage of 1.2V and is implemented in
UMC 180 nano meter CMOS technology. The voltage regulator
presented improves stability even at lighter loads and enhances line
and load regulation.
Abstract: With the rapid advanced of technology, the industrial processes become increasingly demanding, from the point of view, power quality and controllability. The advent of multi levels inverters responds partially to these requirements. But actually, the new generation of multi-cells inverters permits to reach more performances, since, it offers more voltage levels. The disadvantage in the increase of voltage levels by the number of cells in cascades is on account of series igbts synchronisation loss, from where, a limitation of cells in cascade to 4. Regarding to these constraints, a new topology is proposed in this paper, which increases the voltage levels of the three-cell inverter from 4 to 8; with the same number of igbts, and using less stored energy in the flaying capacitors. The details of operation and modelling of this new inverter structure are also presented, then tested thanks to a three phase induction motor. Abstract: CEMTool is a command style design and analyzing
package for scientific and technological algorithm and a matrix based
computation language. In this paper, we present new 2D & 3D
finite element method (FEM) packages for CEMTool. We discuss
the detailed structures and the important features of pre-processor,
solver, and post-processor of CEMTool 2D & 3D FEM packages. In
contrast to the existing MATLAB PDE Toolbox, our proposed FEM
packages can deal with the combination of the reserved words. Also,
we can control the mesh in a very effective way. With the introduction
of new mesh generation algorithm and fast solving technique, our
FEM packages can guarantee the shorter computational time than
MATLAB PDE Toolbox. Consequently, with our new FEM packages,
we can overcome some disadvantages or limitations of the existing
MATLAB PDE Toolbox.
Abstract: Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to calculate aluminum-27, boron-11, and nitrogen-14 quadrupole coupling constant (CQ) in the representative considered model of (6, 0) boron nitride-aluminum nitride nanotube junction (BN-AlNNT) for the first time. To this aim, 1.3 nm length of BNAlN consisting of 18 Al, 18 B, and 36 N atoms was selected where the end atoms capped by hydrogen atoms. The calculated CQ values for optimized BN-AlNNT system reveal different electrostatic environment in the mentioned system. The calculations were performed using the Gaussian 98 package of program.
Abstract: Recent changes in food retailing structure have led to the development of large supercenters in suburban areas of the United States. These changes have led some authors to suggest that there are food deserts in some urban areas, where food is difficult to access, especially for disadvantaged consumers. This study tests the food desert hypothesis by comparing the distance from food retailers to food secure and food insecure households in one urban, Midwest neighborhood. This study utilizes GIS to compare household survey respondent locations against the location of various types of area food retailers. Results of this study indicate no apparent difference between food secure and insecure households in the reported importance of distance on the decision to shop at various retailers. However, there were differences in the spatial relationship between households and retailers. Food insecure households tended to be located slightly farther from large food retailers and slightly closer to convenience stores. Furthermore, food insecure households reported traveling slightly farther to their primary food retailer. The differences between the two groups was, however, relatively small.

Abstract: To create a solution for a specific problem in machine
learning, the solution is constructed from the data or by use a search
method. Genetic algorithms are a model of machine learning that can
be used to find nearest optimal solution. While the great advantage of
genetic algorithms is the fact that they find a solution through
evolution, this is also the biggest disadvantage. Evolution is inductive,
in nature life does not evolve towards a good solution but it evolves
away from bad circumstances. This can cause a species to evolve into
an evolutionary dead end. In order to reduce the effect of this
disadvantage we propose a new a learning tool (criteria) which can be
included into the genetic algorithms generations to compare the
previous population and the current population and then decide
whether is effective to continue with the previous population or the
current population, the proposed learning tool is called as Keeping
Efficient Population (KEP). We applied a GA based on KEP to the
production line layout problem, as a result KEP keep the evaluation
direction increases and stops any deviation in the evaluation.
Abstract: Binary Decision Diagrams (BDDs) are useful data
structures for symbolic Boolean manipulations. BDDs are used in
many tasks in VLSI/CAD, such as equivalence checking, property
checking, logic synthesis, and false paths. In this paper we describe a
new approach for the realization of a BDD package. To perform
manipulations of Boolean functions, the proposed approach does not
depend on the recursive synthesis operation of the IF-Then-Else
(ITE). Instead of using the ITE operation, the basic synthesis
algorithm is done using Boolean NOR operation.
Abstract: One of the most attractive and important field of chaos theory is control of chaos. In this paper, we try to present a simple framework for chaotic motion control using the feedback linearization method. Using this approach, we derive a strategy, which can be easily applied to the other chaotic systems. This task presents two novel results: the desired periodic orbit need not be a solution of the original dynamics and the other is the robustness of response against parameter variations. The illustrated simulations show the ability of these. In addition, by a comparison between a conventional state feedback and our proposed method it is demonstrated that the introduced technique is more efficient.
Abstract: The results of an experimental study of the process of
convective and boiling heat transfer in the vessel with stirrer for
smooth and rough ring-shaped pipes are presented. It is established
that creation of two-dimensional artificial roughness on the heated
surface causes the essential (~100%) intensification of convective
heat transfer. In case of boiling the influence of roughness appears on
the initial stage of boiling and in case of fully developed nucleate
boiling there was no intensification of heat transfer. The similitude
equation for calculating convective heat transfer coefficient, which
generalizes well experimental data both for the smooth and the rough
surfaces is proposed.
Abstract: Extracting thematic (semantic) roles is one of the
major steps in representing text meaning. It refers to finding the
semantic relations between a predicate and syntactic constituents in a
sentence. In this paper we present a rule-based approach to extract
semantic roles from Persian sentences. The system exploits a twophase
architecture to (1) identify the arguments and (2) label them
for each predicate.
For the first phase we developed a rule based shallow parser to
chunk Persian sentences and for the second phase we developed a
knowledge-based system to assign 16 selected thematic roles to the
chunks. The experimental results of testing each phase are shown at
the end of the paper.
