microcontroller simulation model in VHDL. The model is created in
ISE Foundation design tool and simulated in Modelsim tool. This
model is a simple application example of asynchronous systems
designed in synchronous design tools. The design process of creating
asynchronous system with 4-phase bundled-data protocol and with
matching delays is described in the article. The model is described in
gate-level abstraction.
The simulation waveform of the functional construction is the
result of this article. Described construction covers only the
simulation model. The next step would be creating synthesizable
model to FPGA.
Abstract: The excessive consumption of fossil energies (electrical energy) during summer caused by the technological development involves more and more climate warming.
In order to reduce the worst impact of gas emissions produced from classical air conditioning, heat driven solar absorption chiller is pretty promising; it consists on using solar as motive energy which is clean and environmentally friendly to provide cold.
Solar absorption machine is composed by four components using Lithium Bromide /water as a refrigerating couple. LiBr- water is the most promising in chiller applications due to high safety, high volatility ratio, high affinity, high stability and its high latent heat. The lithium bromide solution is constitute by the salt lithium bromide which absorbs water under certain conditions of pressure and temperature however if the concentration of the solution is high in the absorption chillers; which exceed 70%, the solution will crystallize.
The main aim of this article is to study the phenomena of the crystallization and to evaluate how the dependence between the electric conductivity and the concentration which should be controlled.
Abstract: Characterized as rich mineral substances, low
temperature, few bacteria, and stability with numerous implementation
aspects on aquaculture, food, drinking, and leisure, the deep sea water
(DSW) development has become a new industry in the world. It has
been report that marine algae contain various biologically active
compounds. This research focued on the affections in cultivating
Sagrassum cristaefolium with different concentration of deep sea
water(DSW) and surface sea water(SSW). After two and four weeks,
the total phenolic contents were compared in Sagrassum cristaefolium
culturing with different ways, and the reductive activity of them was
also be tried with potassium ferricyanide. Those fresh seaweeds were
dried with oven and were ground to powder. Progressively, the marine
algae we cultured was extracted by water under the condition with
heating them at 90Ôäâ for 1hr.The total phenolic contents were be
executed using Folin–Ciocalteu method. The results were explaining
as follows: the highest total phenolic contents and the best reductive
ability of all could be observed on the 1/4 proportion of DSW to SSW
culturing in two weeks. Furthermore, the 1/2 proportion of DSW to
SSW also showed good reductive ability and plentiful phenolic
compositions. Finally, we confirmed that difference proportion of
DSW and SSW is the major point relating to ether the total phenolic
components or the reductive ability in the Sagrassum cristaefolium. In
the future, we will use this way to mass production the marine algae or
other micro algae on industry applications.
Abstract: The problem of Small Area Estimation (SAE) is complex because of various information sources and insufficient data. In this paper, an approach for SAE is presented for decision-making at national, regional and local level. We propose an Empirical Best Linear Unbiased Predictor (EBLUP) as an estimator in order to combine several information sources to evaluate various indicators. First, we present the urban audit project and its environmental, social and economic indicators. Secondly, we propose an approach for decision making in order to estimate indicators. An application is used to validate the theoretical proposal. Finally, a decision support system is presented based on open-source environment.

Several main cores of mathematical approaches such as Huzita- Hatori axioms, Maekawa and Kawasaki-s theorems are introduced briefly. Meanwhile flaps and circle packing by Robert Lang is explained to make understood the underlying principles in designing crease pattern. Rigid origami and its corrugation patterns which are potentially applicable for creating transformable or temporary spaces is discussed to show the transition of origami from paper to thick material. Moreover, some innovative applications of origami such as eyeglass, origami stent and high tech origami based on mentioned theories and principles are showcased in section III; while some updated origami technology such as Vacuumatics, self-folding of polymer sheets and programmable matter folding which could greatlyenhance origami structureare demonstrated in Section IV to offer more insight in future origami.
Abstract: In this paper we present a technique to speed up
ICA based on the idea of reducing the dimensionality of the data
set preserving the quality of the results. In particular we refer to
FastICA algorithm which uses the Kurtosis as statistical property
to be maximized. By performing a particular Johnson-Lindenstrauss
like projection of the data set, we find the minimum dimensionality
reduction rate ¤ü, defined as the ratio between the size k of the reduced
space and the original one d, which guarantees a narrow confidence
interval of such estimator with high confidence level. The derived
dimensionality reduction rate depends on a system control parameter
β easily computed a priori on the basis of the observations only.
Extensive simulations have been done on different sets of real world
signals. They show that actually the dimensionality reduction is very
high, it preserves the quality of the decomposition and impressively
speeds up FastICA. On the other hand, a set of signals, on which the
estimated reduction rate is greater than 1, exhibits bad decomposition
results if reduced, thus validating the reliability of the parameter β.
We are confident that our method will lead to a better approach to
real time applications.
Abstract: Electro-optical devices are increasingly used for
military sea-, land- and air applications to detect, recognize and track
objects. Typically, these devices produce video information that is
presented to an operator. However, with increasing availability of
electro-optical devices the data volume is becoming very large,
creating a rising need for automated analysis. In a military setting,
this typically involves detecting and recognizing objects at a large
distance, i.e. when they are difficult to distinguish from background
and noise. One may consider combining multiple images from a
video stream into a single enhanced image that provides more
information for the operator. In this paper we investigate a simple
algorithm to enhance simulated images from a military context and
investigate how the enhancement is affected by various types of
disturbance.
Abstract: Recently, there have been an increasing interest in RFID system and RFID systems have been applied to various applications. Load balancing is a fundamental technique for providing scalability of systems by moving workload from overloaded nodes to under-loaded nodes. This paper presents an approach to adaptive load balancing for RFID middlewares. Workloads of RFID middlewares can have a considerable variation according to the location of the connected RFID readers and can abruptly change at a particular instance. The proposed approach considers those characteristics of RFID middle- wares to provide an efficient load balancing.
Abstract: This article presents the results using a parametric approach and a Wavelet Transform in analysing signals emitting from the sperm whale. The extraction of intrinsic characteristics of these unique signals emitted by marine mammals is still at present a difficult exercise for various reasons: firstly, it concerns non-stationary signals, and secondly, these signals are obstructed by interfering background noise. In this article, we compare the advantages and disadvantages of both methods: Auto Regressive models and Wavelet Transform. These approaches serve as an alternative to the commonly used estimators which are based on the Fourier Transform for which the hypotheses necessary for its application are in certain cases, not sufficiently proven. These modern approaches provide effective results particularly for the periodic tracking of the signal's characteristics and notably when the signal-to-noise ratio negatively effects signal tracking. Our objectives are twofold. Our first goal is to identify the animal through its acoustic signature. This includes recognition of the marine mammal species and ultimately of the individual animal (within the species). The second is much more ambitious and directly involves the intervention of cetologists to study the sounds emitted by marine mammals in an effort to characterize their behaviour. We are working on an approach based on the recordings of marine mammal signals and the findings from this data result from the Wavelet Transform. This article will explore the reasons for using this approach. In addition, thanks to the use of new processors, these algorithms once heavy in calculation time can be integrated in a real-time system.
Abstract: Video sensor networks operate on stringent requirements
of latency. Packets have a deadline within which they have
to be delivered. Violation of the deadline causes a packet to be
treated as lost and the loss of packets ultimately affects the quality
of the application. Network latency is typically a function of many
interacting components. In this paper, we propose ways of reducing
the forwarding latency of a packet at intermediate nodes. The
forwarding latency is caused by a combination of processing delay
and queueing delay. The former is incurred in order to determine the
next hop in dynamic routing. We show that unless link failures in a
very specific and unlikely pattern, a vast majority of these lookups
are redundant. To counter this we propose source routing as the
routing strategy. However, source routing suffers from issues related
to scalability and being impervious to network dynamics. We propose
solutions to counter these and show that source routing is definitely
a viable option in practical sized video networks. We also propose a
fast and fair packet scheduling algorithm that reduces queueing delay
at the nodes. We support our claims through extensive simulation on
realistic topologies with practical traffic loads and failure patterns.
Abstract: Application of Geo-Informatic technology in land
tenure and land use on the economic crop area, to create sustainable
land, access to the area, and produce sustainable food for the demand
of its people in the community. The research objectives are to 1)
apply Geo-Informatic Technology on land ownership and agricultural
land use (cash crops) in the research area, 2) create GIS database on
land ownership and land use, 3) create database of an online Geoinformation
system on land tenure and land use. The results of this
study reveal that, first; the study area is on high slope, mountains and
valleys. The land is mainly in the forest zone which was included in
the Forest Act 1941 and National Conserved Forest 1964. Residents
gained the rights to exploit the land passed down from their
ancestors. The practice was recognized by communities. The land
was suitable for cultivating a wide variety of economic crops that was
the main income of the family. At present the local residents keep
expanding the land to grow cash crops. Second; creating a database
of the geographic information system consisted of the area range,
announcement from the Interior Ministry, interpretation of satellite
images, transportation routes, waterways, plots of land with a title
deed available at the provincial land office. Most pieces of land
without a title deed are located in the forest and national reserve
areas. Data were created from a field study and a land zone
determined by a GPS. Last; an online Geo-Informatic System can
show the information of land tenure and land use of each economic
crop. Satellite data with high resolution which could be updated and
checked on the online Geo-Informatic System simultaneously.
Abstract: This paper at first presents approximate analytical
solutions for systems of fractional differential equations using the
differential transform method. The application of differential
transform method, developed for differential equations of integer
order, is extended to derive approximate analytical solutions of
systems of fractional differential equations. The solutions of our
model equations are calculated in the form of convergent series with
easily computable components. After that a drive-response
synchronization method with linear output error feedback is
presented for “generalized projective synchronization" for a class of
fractional-order chaotic systems via a scalar transmitted signal.
Genesio_Tesi and Duffing systems are used to illustrate the
effectiveness of the proposed synchronization method.

Abstract: Memristor is also known as the fourth fundamental
passive circuit element. When current flows in one direction through
the device, the electrical resistance increases and when current flows
in the opposite direction, the resistance decreases. When the current
is stopped, the component retains the last resistance that it had, and
when the flow of charge starts again, the resistance of the circuit will
be what it was when it was last active. It behaves as a nonlinear
resistor with memory. Recently memristors have generated wide
research interest and have found many applications. In this paper we
survey the various applications of memristors which include non
volatile memory, nanoelectronic memories, computer logic,
neuromorphic computer architectures low power remote sensing
applications, crossbar latches as transistor replacements, analog
computations and switches.
Abstract: One of the most important causes of accidents is
driver fatigue. To reduce the accidental rate, the driver needs a
quick nap when feeling sleepy. Hence, searching for the minimum
time period of nap is a very challenging problem. The purpose of
this paper is twofold, i.e. to investigate the possible fastest time
period for nap and its relationship with stage 2 sleep, and to
develop an automatic stage 2 sleep detection and alarm device. The
experiment for this investigation is designed with 21 subjects. It
yields the result that waking up the subjects after getting into stage
2 sleep for 3-5 minutes can efficiently reduce the sleepiness.
Furthermore, the automatic stage 2 sleep detection and alarm
device yields the real-time detection accuracy of approximately
85% which is comparable with the commercial sleep lab system.
Abstract: Morphological operators transform the original image
into another image through the interaction with the other image of
certain shape and size which is known as the structure element.
Mathematical morphology provides a systematic approach to analyze
the geometric characteristics of signals or images, and has been
applied widely too many applications such as edge detection,
objection segmentation, noise suppression and so on. Fuzzy
Mathematical Morphology aims to extend the binary morphological
operators to grey-level images. In order to define the basic
morphological operations such as fuzzy erosion, dilation, opening
and closing, a general method based upon fuzzy implication and
inclusion grade operators is introduced. The fuzzy morphological
operations extend the ordinary morphological operations by using
fuzzy sets where for fuzzy sets, the union operation is replaced by a
maximum operation, and the intersection operation is replaced by a
minimum operation.
In this work, it consists of two articles. In the first one, fuzzy set
theory, fuzzy Mathematical morphology which is based on fuzzy
logic and fuzzy set theory; fuzzy Mathematical operations and their
properties will be studied in details. As a second part, the application
of fuzziness in Mathematical morphology in practical work such as
image processing will be discussed with the illustration problems.
Abstract: Gesture recognition is a challenging task for extracting
meaningful gesture from continuous hand motion. In this paper, we propose an automatic system that recognizes isolated gesture,
in addition meaningful gesture from continuous hand motion for Arabic numbers from 0 to 9 in real-time based on Hidden Markov Models (HMM). In order to handle isolated gesture, HMM using
Ergodic, Left-Right (LR) and Left-Right Banded (LRB) topologies is applied over the discrete vector feature that is extracted from stereo
color image sequences. These topologies are considered to different
number of states ranging from 3 to 10. A new system is developed to recognize the meaningful gesture based on zero-codeword detection
with static velocity motion for continuous gesture. Therefore, the
LRB topology in conjunction with Baum-Welch (BW) algorithm for
training and forward algorithm with Viterbi path for testing presents the best performance. Experimental results show that the proposed system can successfully recognize isolated and meaningful gesture and achieve average rate recognition 98.6% and 94.29% respectively.
Abstract: Meshless Finite Element Methods, namely element-free Galerkin and point-interpolation method were implemented and tested concerning their applicability to typical engineering problems like electrical fields and structural mechanics. A class-structure was developed which allows a consistent implementation of these methods together with classical FEM in a common framework. Strengths and weaknesses of the methods under investigation are discussed. As a result of this work joint usage of meshless methods together with classical Finite Elements are recommended.
Abstract: The work reported in this paper proposes
Swarm-Array computing, a novel technique inspired by swarm
robotics, and built on the foundations of autonomic and parallel
computing. The approach aims to apply autonomic computing
constructs to parallel computing systems and in effect achieve the
self-ware objectives that describe self-managing systems. The
constitution of swarm-array computing comprising four constituents,
namely the computing system, the problem/task, the swarm and the
landscape is considered. Approaches that bind these constituents
together are proposed. Space applications employing FPGAs are
identified as a potential area for applying swarm-array computing for
building reliable systems. The feasibility of a proposed approach is
validated on the SeSAm multi-agent simulator and landscapes are
generated using the MATLAB toolkit.
