Abstract: Background detection is essential in video analyses; optimization is often needed in order to achieve real time calculation. Information gathered by dual cameras placed in the front and rear part of an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) is integrated for background detection. In this paper, real time calculation is achieved on the proposed technique by using Priority Regions (PR) and Parallel Processing together where each frame is divided into regions then and each region process is processed in parallel. PR division depends upon driver view limitations. A background detection system is built on the Temporal Difference (TD) and Gaussian Filtering (GF). Temporal Difference and Gaussian Filtering with multi threshold and sigma (weight) value are be based on PR characteristics. The experiment result is prepared on real scene. Comparison of the speed and accuracy with traditional background detection techniques, the effectiveness of PR and parallel processing are also discussed in this paper.
Abstract: Thailand has evolved many unique culture and knowledge, and the leading is the Thai traditional medicine (TTM). Recently, a number of researchers have tried to save this indigenous knowledge. However, the system to do so has still been scant. To preserve this ancient knowledge, we therefore invented and integrated multi-linguistic techniques to create the system of the collected all of recipes. This application extracted the medical recipes from antique scriptures then normalized antiquarian words, primitive grammar and antiquated measurement of them to the modern ones. Then, we applied ingredient-duplication-calculation, proportion-similarity-calculation and score-ranking to examine duplicate recipes. We collected the questionnaires from registrants and people to investigate the users’ satisfaction. The satisfactory results were found. This application assists not only registrants to validating the copyright violation in TTM registration process but also people to cure their illness that aids both Thai people and all mankind to fight for intractable diseases.
Abstract: Sometime it is difficult to determine the exact reliability for complex systems in analytical procedures. Approximate solution of this problem can be provided through discretization of random variables. In this paper we describe the usefulness of discretization of a random variable using the reversed hazard rate function of its continuous version. Discretization of the exponential distribution has been demonstrated. Applications of this approach have also been cited. Numerical calculations indicate that the proposed approach gives very good approximation of reliability of complex systems under stress-strength set-up. The performance of the proposed approach is better than the existing discrete concentration method of discretization. This approach is conceptually simple, handles analytic intractability and reduces computational time. The approach can be applied in manufacturing industries for producing high-reliable items.
Abstract: This paper describes an approach to the adsorption
phenomena modeling aimed at specifying the adsorption mechanisms
on localized or nonlocalized adsorbent sites, when applied to the
nanocarbons. The concept comes from the fundamental
thermodynamic description of adsorption equilibrium and is based on
numerical calculations of the hydrogen adsorbed particles volume on
the surface of selected nanocarbons: single-walled nanotube and
nanocone. This approach enables to obtain information on adsorption
mechanism and then as a consequence to take appropriate
mathematical adsorption model, thus allowing for a more reliable
identification of the material porous structure. Theoretical basis of the
approach is discussed and newly derived results of the numerical
calculations are presented for the selected nanocarbons.
Abstract: Equivalent fields are frequently used for central axis depth-dose calculations of rectangular and irregular shaped photon beam. Since most of the proposed models to calculate the equivalent square field, are dosimetry-based, a simple physical-based method to calculate the equivalent square field size was used as the basis of this study. The table of the sides of the equivalent square for rectangular fields was constructed and then compared with the well-known tables of BJR and Venselaar with the average relative error percentage of 2.5±2.5 % and 1.5±1.5 % respectively. To evaluate the accuracy of this method, the PDDs were measured for some special irregular symmetric and asymmetric treatment fields and their equivalent squares for Siemens Primus Plus linear accelerator for both energies 6 and 18MV. The mean relative differences of PDDs measurement for these fields and their equivalent square was approximately 1% or less. As a result, this method can be employed to calculate equivalent field not only for rectangular fields but also for any irregular symmetric or asymmetric field.
Abstract: Nowadays, in most radiotherapy departments, the commercial treatment planning systems (TPS) used to calculate dose distributions needs to be verified; therefore, quick, easy-to-use and low cost dose distribution algorithms are desirable to test and verify the performance of the TPS. In this paper, we put forth an analytical method to calculate the phantom scatter contribution and depth dose on the central axis based on the equivalent square concept. Then, this method was generalized to calculate the profiles at any depth and for several field shapes regular or irregular fields under symmetry and asymmetry photon beam conditions. Varian 2100 C/D and Siemens Primus Plus Linacs with 6 and 18 MV photon beam were used for irradiations. Percentage depth doses (PDDs) were measured for a large number of square fields for both energies, and for 45º wedges which were employed to obtain the profiles in any depth. To assess the accuracy of the calculated profiles, several profile measurements were carried out for some treatment fields. The calculated and measured profiles were compared by gamma-index calculation. All γ–index calculations were based on a 3% dose criterion and a 3 mm dose-to-agreement (DTA) acceptance criterion. The γ values were less than 1 at most points. However, the maximum γ observed was about 1.10 in the penumbra region in most fields and in the central area for the asymmetric fields. This analytical approach provides a generally quick and fairly accurate algorithm to calculate dose distribution for some treatment fields in conventional radiotherapy.
Abstract: The aim of the study is evaluation of absorbed doses for thyroids by using neck phantoms. For this purpose, it was arranged the irradiation set with different phantoms. Three different materials were used for phantom materials as, water, parafine and wood. The phantoms were three different dimensions for simulation of different ages and human race for each material. Co-60 gammao source was used for irradiation and the experimental procedure applied rigorously with narrow beam geometry. As the results of the experiments the relative radiation doses are evaluated for therapic applications for thyroids and backscattering factors were calculated and shown that water, parafine and wood can appropriate for phantom material with the converge values of backscattering factors.

Abstract: In this study, the static behavior of super elliptical Winkler plate is analyzed by applying the double side approach method. The lack of information about super elliptical Winkler plates is the motivation of this study and we use the double side approach method to solve this problem because of its superior ability on efficiently treating problems with complex boundary shape. The double side approach method has the advantages of high accuracy, easy calculation procedure and less calculation load required. Most important of all, it can give the error bound of the approximate solution. The numerical results not only show that the double side approach method works well on this problem but also provide us the knowledge of static behavior of super elliptical Winkler plate in practical use.
Abstract: A numerical study on the effect of side-dump angle on
fuel droplets sizing and effective mass fraction have been
investigated in present paper. The mass of fuel vapor inside the
flammability limit is named as the effective mass fraction. In the first
step we have considered a side-dump combustor with dump angle of
0o (acrossthe cylinder) and by increasing the entrance airflow velocity
from 20 to 30, 40 and 50 (m/s) respectively, the mean diameter of
fuel droplets sizing and effective mass fraction have been studied.
After this step, we have changed the dump angle from 0o to 30o,45o
and finally 60o in direction of cylinderand also we have increased the
entrance airflow velocity from 20 up to 50 (m/s) with the amount of
growth of 10(m/s) in each step, to examine its effects on fuel droplets
sizing as well as effective mass fraction. With rise of entrance airflow
velocity, these calculations are repeated in each step too. The results
show, with growth of dump-angle the effective mass fraction has
been decreased and the mean diameter of droplets sizing has been
increased. To fulfill the calculations a modified version of KIVA-3V
code which is a transient, three-dimensional, multiphase,
multicomponent code for the analysis of chemically reacting flows
with sprays, is used.
Abstract: This paper presents a simple three phase power flow
method for solution of three-phase unbalanced radial distribution
system (RDN) with voltage dependent loads. It solves a simple
algebraic recursive expression of voltage magnitude, and all the data
are stored in vector form. The algorithm uses basic principles of
circuit theory and can be easily understood. Mutual coupling between
the phases has been included in the mathematical model. The
proposed algorithm has been tested with several unbalanced radial
distribution networks and the results are presented in the article. 8-
bus and IEEE 13 bus unbalanced radial distribution system results
are in agreements with the literature and show that the proposed
model is valid and reliable.
Abstract: Image Edge Detection is one of the most important
parts of image processing. In this paper, by fuzzy technique, a new
method is used to improve digital image edge detection. In this
method, a 3x3 mask is employed to process each pixel by means of
vicinity. Each pixel is considered a fuzzy input and by examining
fuzzy rules in its vicinity, the edge pixel is specified and by utilizing
calculation algorithms in image processing, edges are displayed more
clearly. This method shows significant improvement compared to
different edge detection methods (e.g. Sobel, Canny).
Abstract: The ionization energy in semiconductor
systems in nano scale was investigated by using effective mass
approximation. By introducing the Hamiltonian of the system, the
variational technique was employed to calculate the ground state and
the ionization energy of a donor at the center and in the case that the
impurities are randomly distributed inside a cubic quantum well. The
numerical results for GaAs/GaAlAs show that the ionization energy
strongly depends on the well width for both cases and it decreases as
the well width increases. The ionization energy of a quantum wire
was also calculated and compared with the results for the well.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with calculating boiler
efficiency as one of the most important types of performance
measurements in any steam power plant. That has a key role in
determining the overall effectiveness of the whole system within the
power station. For this calculation, a Visual-Basic program was
developed, and a steam power plant known as El-Khmus power
plant, Libya was selected as a case study. The calculation of the
boiler efficiency was applied by using heating balance method. The
findings showed how the maximum heat energy which produced
from the boiler increases the boiler efficiency through increasing the
temperature of the feed water, and decreasing the exhaust
temperature along with humidity levels of the of fuel used within the
boiler.
Abstract: The migration of a deformable drop in simple shear
flow at finite Reynolds numbers is investigated numerically by
solving the full Navier-Stokes equations using a finite
difference/front tracking method. The objectives of this study are to
examine the effectiveness of the present approach to predict the
migration of a drop in a shear flow and to investigate the behavior of
the drop migration with different drop sizes and non-unity viscosity
ratios. It is shown that the drop deformation depends strongly on the
capillary number, so that; the proper non-dimensional number for the
interfacial tension is the capillary number. The rate of migration
increased with increasing the drop radius. In other words, the
required time for drop migration to the centreline decreases. As the
viscosity ratio increases, the drop rotates more slowly and the
lubrication force becomes stronger. The increased lubrication force
makes it easier for the drop to migrate to the centre of the channel.
The migration velocity of the drop vanishes as the drop reaches the
centreline under viscosity ratio of one and non-unity viscosity ratios.
To validate the present calculations, some typical results are
compared with available experimental and theoretical data.

Abstract: We present a hardware oriented method for real-time
measurements of object-s position in video. The targeted application
area is light spots used as references for robotic navigation. Different
algorithms for dynamic thresholding are explored in combination
with component labeling and Center Of Gravity (COG) for highest
possible precision versus Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). This method
was developed with a low hardware cost in focus having only one
convolution operation required for preprocessing of data.
Abstract: In today-s world, the efficient utilization of wood
resources comes more and more to the mind of forest owners. It is a
very complex challenge to ensure an efficient harvest of the wood
resources. This is one of the scopes the project “Virtual Forest II"
addresses. Its core is a database with data about forests containing
approximately 260 million trees located in North Rhine-Westphalia
(NRW). Based on this data, tree growth simulations and wood
mobilization simulations can be conducted. This paper focuses on the
latter. It describes a discrete-event-simulation with an attached 3-D
real time visualization which simulates timber harvest using trees
from the database with different crop resources. This simulation can
be displayed in 3-D to show the progress of the wood crop. All the
data gathered during the simulation is presented as a detailed
summary afterwards. This summary includes cost-benefit
calculations and can be compared to those of previous runs to
optimize the financial outcome of the timber harvest by exchanging
crop resources or modifying their parameters.
Abstract: Using ab initio theoretical calculations, we present
analysis of fragmentation process. The analysis is performed in two
steps. The first step is calculation of fragmentation energies by ab
initio calculations. The second step is application of the energies to
kinetic description of process. The energies of fragments are
presented in this paper. The kinetics of fragmentation process can be
described by numerical models. The method for kinetic analysis is
described in this paper. The result - composition of fragmentation
products - will be calculated in future. The results from model can be
compared to the concentrations of fragments from mass spectrum.
