Abstract: In this paper, a new time discontinuous expanded mixed finite element method is proposed and analyzed for two-order convection-dominated diffusion problem. The proofs of the stability of the proposed scheme and the uniqueness of the discrete solution are given. Moreover, the error estimates of the scalar unknown, its gradient and its flux in the L1( ¯ J,L2( )-norm are obtained.
Abstract: The development of the power electronics has allowed
increasing the precision and reliability of the electrical devices, thanks
to the adjustable inverters, as the Pulse Wide Modulation (PWM)
applied to the three level inverters, which is the object of this study.
The authors treat the relation between the law order adopted for a
given system and the oscillations of the electrical and mechanical
parameters of which the tolerance depends on the process with which
they are integrated (paper factory, lifting of the heavy loads,
etc.).Thus, the best choice of the regulation indexes allows us to
achieve stability and safety training without investment (management
of existing equipment). The optimal behavior of any electric device
can be achieved by the minimization of the stored electrical and
mechanical energy.
Abstract: The globe Sustainability has become the subject of international attention, the key reason is that global climate change. Climate and disasters around the abnormal frequency multiplier, the global temperature of the catastrophe and disaster continue to occur throughout the world, as well as countries around the world. Currently there are many important international conferences and policy, it is a "global environmental sustainability " and "living human health " as the goal of development, including the APEC 2007 meeting to "climate Clean Energy" as the theme Sydney Declaration, 2008 World Economic Forum's "Carbon - promote Cool Earth energy efficiency improvement project", the EU proposed "Green Idea" program, the Japanese annual policy, "low-carbon society, sustainable eco-city environment (Eco City) "And from 2009 to 2010 to promote the "Eco-Point" to promote green energy and carbon reduction products .And the 2010 World Climate Change Conference (COP16 United Nations Climate Change Conference Copenhagen), the world has been the subject of Negative conservative "Environmental Protection ", "save energy consumption, " into a positive response to the "Sustainable " and" LOHAS", while Taiwan has actively put forward eco-cities, green building, green building materials and other related environmental response Measures, especially green building construction environment that is the basis of factors, the most widely used application level, and direct contact with human health and the key to sustainable planet. Abstract: Reduction of Single Input Single Output (SISO) continuous systems into Reduced Order Model (ROM), using a conventional and an evolutionary technique is presented in this paper. In the conventional technique, the mixed advantages of Mihailov stability criterion and continued fraction expansions (CFE) technique is employed where the reduced denominator polynomial is derived using Mihailov stability criterion and the numerator is obtained by matching the quotients of the Cauer second form of Continued fraction expansions. In the evolutionary technique method Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is employed to reduce the higher order model. PSO method is based on the minimization of the Integral Squared Error (ISE) between the transient responses of original higher order model and the reduced order model pertaining to a unit step input. Both the methods are illustrated through numerical example.
Abstract: This paper is aimed at describing a delay-based endto-
end (e2e) congestion control algorithm, called Very FAST TCP
(VFAST), which is an enhanced version of FAST TCP. The main
idea behind this enhancement is to smoothly estimate the Round-Trip
Time (RTT) based on a nonlinear filter, which eliminates throughput
and queue oscillation when RTT fluctuates. In this context, an evaluation
of the suggested scheme through simulation is introduced, by
comparing our VFAST prototype with FAST in terms of throughput,
queue behavior, fairness, stability, RTT and adaptivity to changes in
network. The achieved simulation results indicate that the suggested
protocol offer better performance than FAST TCP in terms of RTT
estimation and throughput.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is comparing and analysing
of the financial characteristics for development methods of the urban development project in the established area, focusing on the
multi-level replotting.
Analysis showed that the type of the lowest expenditure was
'combination type of group-land and multi-level replotting' and the type of the highest profitability was 'multi-level replotting type'. But
'multi-level replotting type' has still risk of amount of cost for the additional architecture. In addition, we subdivided standard amount
for liquidation of replotting and analysed income-expenditure flow.
Analysis showed that both of 'multi-level replotting type' and 'combination type of group-land and multi-level replotting' improved
profitability of project and property change ratio. However, when the
standard was under a certain amount, amount of original property for the replotting was increased exponentially, and profitability of project.
Abstract: The application of stability theory has led to detailed studies of different types of vessels; however, the shortage of information relating to multihull vessels demanded further investigation. This study shows that the position of the hulls has a very influential effect on both the transverse and longitudinal stability of the tricore. HSC stability code is applied for the optimisation of the hull configurations. Such optimization criteria would undoubtedly aid the performance of the vessel for both commercial or leisure purposes
Abstract: Saturated two-phase fluid flows are often subject to
pressure induced oscillations. Due to compressibility the vapor
bubbles act as a spring with an asymmetric non-linear characteristic.
The volume of the vapor bubbles increases or decreases differently if
the pressure fluctuations are compressing or expanding;
consequently, compressing pressure fluctuations in a two-phase pipe
flow cause less displacement in the direction of the pipe flow than
expanding pressure fluctuations. The displacement depends on the
ratio of liquid to vapor, the ratio of pressure fluctuations over average
pressure and on the exciting frequency of the pressure fluctuations.
In addition, pressure fluctuations in saturated vapor bubbles cause
condensation and evaporation within the bubbles and change
periodically the ratio between liquid to vapor, and influence the
dynamical parameters for the oscillation. The oscillations are
conforming to an isenthalpic process at constant enthalpy with no
heat transfer and no exchange of work.
The paper describes the governing non-linear equation for twophase
fluid oscillations with condensation and evaporation, and
presents steady state approximate solutions for free and for pressure
induced oscillations. Resonance criteria and stability are discussed.
Abstract: In today-s information age, numbers of organizations
are still arguing on capitalizing the values of Information Technology
(IT) and Knowledge Management (KM) to which individuals can
benefit from and effective communication among the individuals can
be established. IT exists in enabling positive improvement for
communication among knowledge workers (k-workers) with a
number of social network technology domains at workplace. The
acceptance of digital discourse in sharing of knowledge and
facilitating the knowledge and information flows at most of the
organizations indeed impose the culture of knowledge sharing in
Digital Social Networks (DSN). Therefore, this study examines
whether the k-workers with IT background would confer an effect on
the three knowledge characteristics -- conceptual, contextual, and
operational. Derived from these three knowledge characteristics, five
potential factors will be examined on the effects of knowledge
exchange via e-mail domain as the chosen query. It is expected, that
the results could provide such a parameter in exploring how DSN
contributes in supporting the k-workers- virtues, performance and
qualities as well as revealing the mutual point between IT and KM.
Abstract: To meet the demands of wireless sensor networks
(WSNs) where data are usually aggregated at a single source prior to
transmitting to any distant user, there is a need to establish a tree
structure inside any given event region. In this paper , a novel
technique to create one such tree is proposed .This tree preserves the
energy and maximizes the lifetime of event sources while they are
constantly transmitting for data aggregation. The term Decentralized
Lifetime Maximizing Tree (DLMT) is used to denote this tree.
DLMT features in nodes with higher energy tend to be chosen as data
aggregating parents so that the time to detect the first broken tree link
can be extended and less energy is involved in tree maintenance. By
constructing the tree in such a way, the protocol is able to reduce the
frequency of tree reconstruction, minimize the amount of data loss
,minimize the delay during data collection and preserves the energy.
Abstract: A laboratory study on the influence of compactive
effort on expansive black cotton specimens treated with up to 8%
ordinary Portland cement (OPC) admixed with up to 8% bagasse ash
(BA) by dry weight of soil and compacted using the energies of the
standard Proctor (SP), West African Standard (WAS) or
“intermediate” and modified Proctor (MP) were undertaken. The
expansive black cotton soil was classified as A-7-6 (16) or CL using
the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials
(AASHTO) and Unified Soil Classification System (USCS),
respectively. The 7day unconfined compressive strength (UCS)
values of the natural soil for SP, WAS and MP compactive efforts are
286, 401 and 515kN/m2 respectively, while peak values of 1019,
1328 and 1420kN/m2 recorded at 8% OPC/ 6% BA, 8% OPC/ 2% BA
and 6% OPC/ 4% BA treatments, respectively were less than the
UCS value of 1710kN/m2 conventionally used as criterion for
adequate cement stabilization. The soaked California bearing ratio
(CBR) values of the OPC/BA stabilized soil increased with higher
energy level from 2, 4 and 10% for the natural soil to Peak values of
55, 18 and 8% were recorded at 8% OPC/4% BA 8% OPC/2% BA
and 8% OPC/4% BA, treatments when SP, WAS and MP compactive
effort were used, respectively. The durability of specimens was
determined by immersion in water. Soils treatment at 8% OPC/ 4%
BA blend gave a value of 50% resistance to loss in strength value
which is acceptable because of the harsh test condition of 7 days
soaking period specimens were subjected instead of the 4 days
soaking period that specified a minimum resistance to loss in strength
of 80%. Finally An optimal blend of is 8% OPC/ 4% BA is
recommended for treatment of expansive black cotton soil for use as
a sub-base material.

Abstract: The Knowledge Management (KM) Criteria is an
essential foundation to evaluate KM outcomes. Different sets of
criteria were developed and tailored by many researchers to
determine the results of KM initiatives. However, literature review
has emphasized on incomplete set of criteria for evaluating KM
outcomes. Hence, this paper tried to address the problem of
determining the criteria for measuring knowledge management
outcomes among different types of Malaysian organizations.
Successively, this paper was assumed to develop widely accepted
criteria to measure success of knowledge management efforts for
Malaysian organizations. Our analysis approach was based on the
ANOVA procedure to compare a set of criteria among different types
of organizations. This set of criteria was exploited from literature
review. It is hoped that this study provides a better picture for
different types of Malaysian organizations to establish a
comprehensive set of criteria due to measure results of KM programs.
Abstract: In the present communication, the existing measures of
fuzzy entropy are reviewed. A generalized parametric exponential
fuzzy entropy is defined. Our study of the four essential and some
other properties of the proposed measure, clearly establishes the
validity of the measure as an entropy.
Abstract: In this work, we study the impact of dynamically
changing link slowdowns on the stability properties of packetswitched
networks under the Adversarial Queueing Theory
framework. Especially, we consider the Adversarial, Quasi-Static
Slowdown Queueing Theory model, where each link slowdown may
take on values in the two-valued set of integers {1, D} with D > 1
which remain fixed for a long time, under a (w, ¤ü)-adversary. In this
framework, we present an innovative systematic construction for the
estimation of adversarial injection rate lower bounds, which, if
exceeded, cause instability in networks that use the LIS (Longest-in-
System) protocol for contention-resolution. In addition, we show that
a network that uses the LIS protocol for contention-resolution may
result in dropping its instability bound at injection rates ¤ü > 0 when
the network size and the high slowdown D take large values. This is
the best ever known instability lower bound for LIS networks.
Abstract: In this document, we have proposed a robust
conceptual strategy, in order to improve the robustness against the manufacturing defects and thus the reliability of logic CMOS circuits. However, in order to enable the use of future CMOS
technology nodes this strategy combines various types of design:
DFR (Design for Reliability), techniques of tolerance: hardware
redundancy TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) for hard error
tolerance, the DFT (Design for Testability. The Results on largest ISCAS and ITC benchmark circuits show that our approach improves
considerably the reliability, by reducing the key factors, the area costs and fault tolerance probability.
Abstract: The paper reports on the results of experimental and
numerical study of nonstationary swirling flow in an isothermal
model of vortex burner. It has been identified that main source of the
instability is related to a precessing vortex core (PVC) phenomenon.
The PVC induced flow pulsation characteristics such as precession
frequency and its variation as a function of flowrate and swirl number
have been explored making use of acoustic probes. Additionally
pressure transducers were used to measure the pressure drops on the
working chamber and across the vortex flow. The experiments have
been included also the mean velocity measurements making use of a
laser-Doppler anemometry. The features of instantaneous flowfield
generated by the PVC were analyzed employing a commercial CFD
code (Star-CCM+) based on Detached Eddy Simulation (DES)
approach. Validity of the numerical code has been checked by
comparison calculated flowfield data with the obtained experimental
results. It has been confirmed particularly that the CFD code applied
correctly reproduces the flow features.
Abstract: Waste management is now a global concern due to its
high environmental impact on climate change. Because of generating
huge amount of waste through our daily activities, managing waste in
an efficient way has become more important than ever. Alternative
Waste Technology (AWT), a new category of waste treatment
technology has been developed for energy recovery in recent years to
address this issue. AWT describes a technology that redirects waste
away from landfill, recovers more useable resources from the waste
flow and reduces the impact on the surroundings. Australia is one of
the largest producers of waste per-capita. A number of AWTs are
using in Australia to produce energy from waste. Presently, it is vital
to identify an appropriate AWT to establish a sustainable waste
management system in Australia. Identification of an appropriate
AWT through Multi-criteria analysis (MCA) of four AWTs by using
five key decision making criteria is presented and discussed in this
paper.
Abstract: Based on the component approach, three kinds of
dynamic load models, including a single –motor model, a two-motor
model and composite load model have been developed for the
stability studies of Khuzestan power system. The study results are
presented in this paper. Voltage instability is a dynamic phenomenon
and therefore requires dynamic representation of the power system
components. Industrial loads contain a large fraction of induction
machines. Several models of different complexity are available for
the description investigations. This study evaluates the dynamic
performances of several dynamic load models in combination with
the dynamics of a load changing transformer. Case study is steel
industrial substation in Khuzestan power systems.
Abstract: Well-being has been given special emphasis in quality
of life. It involves living a meaningful, life satisfaction, stability and
happiness in life. Well-being also concerns the satisfaction of
physical, psychological, social needs and demands of an individual.
The purpose of this study was to validate three-factor measurement
model of well-being using structural equation modeling (SEM). The
conceptions of well-being measured such dimensions as physical,
psychological and social well-being. This study was done based on a
total sample of 650 adolescents from east-coast of peninsular
Malaysia. The Well-Being Scales which was adapted from [1] was
used in this study. The items were hypothesized a priori to have nonzero
loadings on all dimensions in the model. The findings of the
SEM demonstrated that it is a good fitting model which the proposed
model fits the driving theory; (x2df = 1.268; GFI = .994; CFI = .998;
TLI= .996; p = .255; RMSEA = .021). Composite reliability (CR)
was .93 and average variance extracted (AVE) was 58%. The model
in this study fits with the sample of data and well-being is important
to bring sustainable development to the mainstream.
