Abstract: Value engineering is an efficacious contraption for
administrators to make up their minds. Value perusals proffer the
gaffers a suitable instrument to decrease the expenditures of the life
span, quality amelioration, structural improvement, curtailment of the
construction schedule, longevity prolongation or a merging of the
aforementioned cases. Subjecting organizers to pressures on one
hand and their accountability towards their pertinent fields together
with inherent risks and ambiguities of other options on the other hand
set some comptrollers in a dilemma utilization of risk management
and the value engineering in projects manipulation with regard to
complexities of implementing projects can be wielded as a
contraption to identify and efface each item which wreaks
unnecessary expenses and time squandering sans inflicting any
damages upon the essential project applications. Of course It should
be noted that implementation of risk management and value
engineering with regard to the betterment of efficiency and functions
may lead to the project implementation timing elongation. Here time
revamping does not refer to time diminishing in the whole cases. his
article deals with risk and value engineering conceptualizations at
first. The germane reverberations effectuated due to its execution in
Iran Khodro Corporation are regarded together with the joint features
and amalgamation of the aforesaid entia; hence the proposed
blueprint is submitted to be taken advantage of in engineering and
industrial projects including Iran Khodro Corporation.
Abstract: Recently ORC(Organic Rankine Cycle) has attracted
much attention due to its potential in reducing consumption of fossil
fuels and its favorable characteristics to exploit low-grade heat sources.
In this work thermodynamic performance of ORC with superheating of
vapor is comparatively assessed for various working fluids. Special
attention is paid to the effects of system parameters such as the evaporating
temperature and the turbine inlet temperature on the characteristics
of the system such as maximum possible work extraction from
the given source, volumetric flow rate per 1 kW of net work and
quality of the working fluid at turbine exit as well as thermal and
exergy efficiencies. Results show that for a given source the thermal
efficiency increases with decrease of the superheating but exergy
efficiency may have a maximum value with respect to the superheating
of the working fluid. Results also show that in selection of working
fluid it is required to consider various criteria of performance characteristics
as well as thermal efficiency.
Abstract: This work was conducted to improve the level of
resistant starch (RS) in a rice noodle using unripe banana flour and to
investigate the effect of substitution of unripe banana flour for rice
flour on the physical properties of rice noodle. In order to prepare
rice noodles, the unripe banana flour were replaced the rice flour
with different degrees of substitutions including 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and
100%. The results indicated that substitution of unripe banana flour
was significantly affected the viscosity properties of noodle flour,
color, cooking loss, RS and total starch content of noodle. It was
found that the noodle prepared from 100% unripe banana indicated
the greatest changes on the viscosity properties and color profiles. It
also showed the highest values of cooking loss (2.53%), tensile
strength (129.03%), and RS content (13.15%).
Abstract: The effect of autofrettage process in strain hardened
thick-walled pressure vessels has been investigated theoretically by
finite element modeling. Equivalent von Mises stress is used as yield
criterion to evaluate the optimum autofrettage pressure and the
optimum radius of elastic-plastic junction. It has been observed that
the optimum autofrettage pressure increases along with the working
pressure. For two different working pressures, the effect of the ratio
of outer to inner radius (b/a=k) value on the optimum autofrettage
pressure is also noticed. The Optimum autofrettage pressure solely
depends on K value rather than on the inner or outer radius.
Furthermore, percentage reduction of von Mises stresses is compared
for different working pressures and different k values. Maximum von
Mises stress developed at different autofrettage pressure is equated
for elastic perfectly plastic and elastic-plastic material with different
slope of strain hardening segment. Cylinder material having higher
slope of strain hardening segment provides better benedictions in the
autofrettage process.
Abstract: Confucius was a fifth-century BCE Chinese thinker whose influence upon East Asian intellectual and social history is immeasurable. Better known is in China as “Master Kong”. As a culturally symbolic figure, he has been alternately idealized, deified, dismissed, vilified, and rehabilitated over the millennia by both Asian and non-Asian thinkers and regimes. Given his extraordinary impact on Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese thought, it is ironic that so little can be known about Confucius. The tradition that bears his name – “Confucianizm” (Chinese: Rujia) – ultimately traces itself to the sayings and biographical fragments recorded in the text known as the Analects (Chinese: Lunyu). In the Analects, two types of persons are opposed to one another – not in terms of basic potential, but in terms of developed potential. These are the junzi (literally, “lord’s son” or “gentleman”) and the xiaoren (“small person”). The junzi is the person who always manifests the quality of ren in his
person and the displays the quality of lee in his actions. In this article examines the category of the ideal man and the spiritual and moral values of the philosophy of Confucius. According to Confucius high-morality Jun-zi is characterized by two things: a sense of humanity and duty. This article provides an analysis of the ethical category for the ideal man.
Abstract: Clustering categorical data is more complicated than
the numerical clustering because of its special properties. Scalability
and memory constraint is the challenging problem in clustering large
data set. This paper presents an incremental algorithm to cluster the
categorical data. Frequencies of attribute values contribute much in
clustering similar categorical objects. In this paper we propose new
similarity measures based on the frequencies of attribute values and
its cardinalities. The proposed measures and the algorithm are
experimented with the data sets from UCI data repository. Results
prove that the proposed method generates better clusters than the
existing one.
Abstract: The authors present an algorithm for order reduction of linear time invariant dynamic systems using the combined advantages of the eigen spectrum analysis and the error minimization by particle swarm optimization technique. Pole centroid and system stiffness of both original and reduced order systems remain same in this method to determine the poles, whereas zeros are synthesized by minimizing the integral square error in between the transient responses of original and reduced order models using particle swarm optimization technique, pertaining to a unit step input. It is shown that the algorithm has several advantages, e.g. the reduced order models retain the steady-state value and stability of the original system. The algorithm is illustrated with the help of two numerical examples and the results are compared with the other existing techniques.
Abstract: Digital Video Terrestrial Broadcasting (DVB-T)
allows combining broadcasting, telephone and data services in one
network. It has facilitated mobile TV broadcasting. Mobile TV
broadcasting is dominated by fragmentation of standards in use in
different continents. In Asia T-DMB and ISDB-T are used while
Europe uses mainly DVB-H and in USA it is MediaFLO. Issues of
royalty for developers of these different incompatible technologies,
investments made and differing local conditions shall make it
difficult to agree on a unified standard in a very near future. Despite
this shortcoming, mobile TV has shown very good market potential.
There are a number of challenges that still exist for regulators,
investors and technology developers but the future looks bright.
There is need for mobile telephone operators to cooperate with
content providers and those operating terrestrial digital broadcasting
infrastructure for mutual benefit.
Abstract: Lateral-torsional buckling (LTB) is one of the
phenomenae controlling the ultimate bending strength of steel Ibeams
carrying distributed loads on top flange. Built-up I-sections
are used as main beams and distributors. This study investigates the
ultimate bending strength of such beams with sections of different
classes including slender elements. The nominal strengths of the
selected beams are calculated for different unsupported lengths
according to the Provisions of the American Institute of Steel
Constructions (AISC-LRFD). These calculations are compared with
results of a nonlinear inelastic study using accurate FE model for this
type of loading. The goal is to investigate the performance of the
provisions for the selected sections. Continuous distributed load at
the top flange of the beams was applied at the FE model.
Imperfections of different values are implemented to the FE model to
examine their effect on the LTB of beams at failure, and hence, their
effect on the ultimate strength of beams. The study also introduces a
procedure for evaluating the performance of the provisions compared
with the accurate FEA results of the selected sections. A simplified
design procedure is given and recommendations for future code
updates are made.
Abstract: In This paper, the behavior of eccentric braced frame
(EBF) is studied with replacing friction damper (FD) in confluence of these braces, in 5 and 10-storey steel frames. For FD system, the main step is to determine the slip load. For this reason, the performance indexes include roof displacement, base shear, dissipated energy and relative performance should be investigated. In
nonlinear dynamic analysis, the response of structure to three
earthquake records has been obtained and the values of roof
displacement, base shear and column axial force for FD and EBF
frames have been compared. The results demonstrate that use of the FD in frames, in comparison with the EBF, substantially reduces the roof displacement, column axial force and base shear. The obtained results show suitable performance of FD in higher storey structure in
comparison with the EBF.
Abstract: In our modern society electricity is vital to our health,
safety, comfort and well-being. While our daily use of electricity is
often taken for granted, public concern has arisen about potential
adverse health effects from electric and magnetic – electromagnetic –
fields (EMFs) produced by our use of electricity.
This paper aims to compare between the measured magnetic field
values and the simulated models for the indoor medium to low
voltage (MV/LV) distribution substations.
To calculate the magnetic flux density in the substations,
interactive software SUBCALC is used which is based on closed
form solution of the Biot-Savart law with 3D conductor model.
The comparison between the measured values and the simulated
models was acceptable. However there were some discrepancies, as
expected, may be due to the current variation during measurements.
Abstract: The ability of pomelo peel, a natural biosorbent, to remove Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution by biosorption was investigated. The experiments were carried out by batch method at 25 °C. The influence of solution pH, initial cadmium ion concentrations and contact times were evaluated. Cadmium ion removal increased significantly as the pH of the solution increased from pH 1 to pH 5. At pH 5, the cadmium ion removal reached a maximum value. The equilibrium process was described well by the Langmuir isotherm model, with a maximum biosorption capacity of 21.83 mg/g. The biosorption was relatively quick, (approx. 20 min). Biosorption kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order model. The result showed that pomelo peel was effective as a biosorbent for removing cadmium ions from aqueous solution. It is a low cost material that shows potential to be applied in wastewater technology for remediation of heavy metal contamination.
Abstract: The tensile properties of Mg-3%Al nanocrystalline
alloys were investigated at different test environment. Bulk
nanocrystalline samples of these alloy was successfully prepared by
mechanical alloying (MA) followed by cold compaction, sintering,
and hot extrusion process. The crystal size of the consolidated milled
sample was calculated by X-Ray line profile analysis. The
deformation mechanism and microstructural characteristic at
different test condition was discussed extensively. At room
temperature, relatively lower value of activation volume (AV) and
higher value of strain rate sensitivity (SRS) suggests that new rate
controlling mechanism accommodating plastic flow in the present
nanocrystalline sample. The deformation behavior and the
microstructural character of the present samples were discussed in
details.
Abstract: Two species of Physalis, P.angulataL. and P.
peruviana L. were used as models for comparative study to
understand the values of micro-morphological, -anatomical and
architectural characteristics of leaf for taxonomic purposes and
possibly breeding and commercial applications. Both speciespossess
amphistomaticleaves with 1-layer epidermis, 3-4-layer spongy

of P. angulatawere almost twice longer (65-75 μm) than the other
one. Type of stomata was similar as anomocyticbut stomatal
index(SI) at adaxial surface and abaxial surface of P. angulata were
less than of P. peruvianaas 3.57, 4.00 and6.25, 6.66 respectively.
Some leaf architectural characteristics such as leaf shape, order of
venationalsoprovided information of taxonomic significance
Abstract: Interpolated contour maps drawn for aluminum,
copper and molybdenum in downstream monitoring boreholes of
water dam in Miduk Copper Complex and the values of pH, redox
potential (Eh) and distance from water dam indicate different trends
of variation and behavior of these three elements in downward
groundwater resources. As these maps exhibit, aluminum is dominant
in the most alkaline (pH = 9-11) borehole (MB5) to water dam. The
highest concentration of molybdenum is found in the nearest
borehole (MB6) to water dam. Main concentration of copper is
observed in the most oxidized borehole (MB3 with Eh=293.2mV).
The spatial difference among sampling stations can be attributed to
the existence of faults and diaclases in the geologic structure of
Miduk region which causes the groundwater sampling sites to be
impressed by different contamination sources (toe seepage and upper
seepage water originated from different zones of tailings dump).
Abstract: Estimates of temperature values at a specific time of day, from daytime and daily profiles, are needed for a number of environmental, ecological, agricultural and technical applications, ranging from natural hazards assessments, crop growth forecasting to design of solar energy systems. The scope of this research is to investigate the efficiency of data mining techniques in estimating minimum, maximum and mean temperature values. For this reason, a number of experiments have been conducted with well-known regression algorithms using temperature data from the city of Patras in Greece. The performance of these algorithms has been evaluated using standard statistical indicators, such as Correlation Coefficient, Root Mean Squared Error, etc.
Abstract: In this paper we study the inverse eigenvalue problem for symmetric special matrices and introduce sufficient conditions for obtaining nonnegative matrices. We get the HROU algorithm from [1] and introduce some extension of this algorithm. If we have some eigenvectors and associated eigenvalues of a matrix, then by this extension we can find the symmetric matrix that its eigenvalue and eigenvectors are given. At last we study the special cases and get some remarkable results.
Abstract: The present study was carried out to evaluate the
nutritional value of sorghum flour during processing of injera
(unleavened thick bread). The proximate composition of sorghum
flour before and after fermentation and that of injera was determined.
Compared to the raw flour and fermented one, injera had low protein
(11.55%), ash (1.57%) and fat (2.40%) contents but high in fiber
content. Moreover, injera was found to have significantly (P ≤ 0.05)
higher energy (389.08 Kcal/100g) compared to raw and fermented
sorghum flour. Injera contained lower levels of anti-nutritional
factors (polyphenols, phytate and tannins) compared to raw and
fermented sorghum. Also it was found to be rich in Ca
(4.75mg/100g), Fe (3.95 mg/100g), and Cu (0.7 mg/100g) compared
to that of raw and fermented flour. Moreover, both the extractable
minerals and protein digestibility were high for injera due to low
amount of anti-nutrients. Injera was found to contain an appreciable
amount of amino acids except arginine and tyrosine.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to propose a dynamic integrated approach, based on modularity concept and on the business ecosystem approach, that exploit different eBusiness services for SMEs under an open business network platform. The adoption of this approach enables firms to collaborate locally for delivering the best product/service to the customers as well as globally by accessing international markets, interrelate directly with the customers, create relationships and collaborate with worldwide actors. The paper will be structured as following: We will start by offering an overview of the state of the art of eBusiness platforms among SME of food and tourism firms and then we discuss the main drawbacks that characterize them. The digital business ecosystem approach and the modularity concept will be described as the theoretical ground in which our proposed integrated model is rooted. Finally, the proposed model along with a discussion of the main value creation potentialities it might create for SMEs will be presented.
