Abstract: In this paper a low cost knowledge base system (KBS)
framework is proposed for design of deep drawing die and procedure
for developing system modules. The task of building the system is
structured into different modules for major activities of design of
deep drawing die. A manufacturability assessment module of the
proposed framework is developed to check the manufacturability of
deep drawn parts. The technological knowledge is represented by
using IF- THEN rules and it is coded in AutoLISP language. The
module is designed to be loaded into the prompt area of AutoCAD.
The cost of implementation of proposed system makes it affordable
for small and medium scale sheet metal industries.
Abstract: The goal of data mining algorithms is to discover
useful information embedded in large databases. One of the most
important data mining problems is discovery of frequently occurring
patterns in sequential data. In a multidimensional sequence each
event depends on more than one dimension. The search space is quite
large and the serial algorithms are not scalable for very large
datasets. To address this, it is necessary to study scalable parallel
implementations of sequence mining algorithms.
In this paper, we present a model for multidimensional sequence
and describe a parallel algorithm based on data parallelism.
Simulation experiments show good load balancing and scalable and
acceptable speedup over different processors and problem sizes and
demonstrate that our approach can works efficiently in a real parallel
computing environment.
Abstract: Background noise is particularly damaging to speech
intelligibility for people with hearing loss especially for sensorineural
loss patients. Several investigations on speech intelligibility have
demonstrated sensorineural loss patients need 5-15 dB higher SNR
than the normal hearing subjects. This paper describes Discrete
Cosine Transform Power Normalized Least Mean Square algorithm
to improve the SNR and to reduce the convergence rate of the LMS
for Sensory neural loss patients. Since it requires only real arithmetic,
it establishes the faster convergence rate as compare to time domain
LMS and also this transformation improves the eigenvalue
distribution of the input autocorrelation matrix of the LMS filter.
The DCT has good ortho-normal, separable, and energy compaction
property. Although the DCT does not separate frequencies, it is a
powerful signal decorrelator. It is a real valued function and thus
can be effectively used in real-time operation. The advantages of
DCT-LMS as compared to standard LMS algorithm are shown via
SNR and eigenvalue ratio computations. . Exploiting the symmetry
of the basis functions, the DCT transform matrix [AN] can be
factored into a series of ±1 butterflies and rotation angles. This
factorization results in one of the fastest DCT implementation. There
are different ways to obtain factorizations. This work uses the fast
factored DCT algorithm developed by Chen and company. The
computer simulations results show superior convergence
characteristics of the proposed algorithm by improving the SNR at
least 10 dB for input SNR less than and equal to 0 dB, faster
convergence speed and better time and frequency characteristics.
Abstract: The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) plays a
vital role in automation and process control. Grafcet is used for
representing the control logic, and traditional programming
languages are used for describing the pure algorithms. Grafcet is used
for dividing the process to be automated in elementary sequences that
can be easily implemented. Each sequence represent a step that has
associated actions programmed using textual or graphical languages
after case. The programming task is simplified by using a set of
subroutines that are used in several steps. The paper presents an
example of implementation for a punching machine for sheets and
plates. The use the graphical languages the programming of a
complex sequential process is a necessary solution. The state of
Grafcet can be used for debugging and malfunction determination.
The use of the method combined with a set of knowledge acquisition
for process application reduces the downtime of the machine and
improve the productivity.
Abstract: Empirical insights into the implementation of logistics competencies at the top management level are scarce. This paper addresses this issue with an explorative approach which is based on a dataset of 872 observations in the years 2000, 2004 and 2008 using quantitative content analysis from annual reports of the 500 publicly listed firms with the highest global research and development expenditures according to the British Department for Business Innovation and Skills. We find that logistics competencies are more pronounced in Asian companies than in their European or American counterparts. On an industrial level the results are quite mixed. Using partial point-biserial correlations we show that logistics competencies are positively related to financial performance.
Abstract: The fact that traditional food safety system in the
absence of food safety culture is inadequate has recently become a
cause of concern for food safety professionals and other stakeholders.
Focusing on implementation of traditional food safety system i.e
HACCP prerequisite program and HACCP without the presence of
food safety culture in the food industry has led to the processing,
marketing and distribution of contaminated foods. The results of this
are regular out breaks of food borne illnesses and recalls of foods
from retail outlets with serious consequences to the consumers and
manufacturers alike. This article will consider the importance of food
safety culture, the cases of outbreaks and recalls that occurred when
companies did not make food safety culture a priority. Most
importantly, the food safety cultures of some food industries in South
Africa were assessed from responses to questionnaires from food
safety/food industry professionals in Durban South Africa. The
article was concluded by recommending that both food
industry employees and employers alike take food safety culture
seriously.
Abstract: This paper presents the communication network for
machine vision system to implement to control systems and logistics
applications in industrial environment. The real-time distributed over
the network is very important for communication among vision node,
image processing and control as well as the distributed I/O node. A
robust implementation both with respect to camera packaging and
data transmission has been accounted. This network consists of a
gigabit Ethernet network and a switch with integrated fire-wall is
used to distribute the data and provide connection to the imaging
control station and IEC-61131 conform signal integration comprising
the Modbus TCP protocol. The real-time and delay time properties
each part on the network were considered and worked out in this
paper.
Abstract: Instead of representing individual cognition only, population cognition is represented using artificial neural networks whilst maintaining individuality. This population network trains continuously, simulating adaptation. An implementation of two coexisting populations is compared to the Lotka-Volterra model of predator-prey interaction. Applications include multi-agent systems such as artificial life or computer games.
Abstract: This paper considers the influence of promotion
instruments for renewable energy sources (RES) on a multi-energy
modeling framework. In Europe, so called Feed-in Tariffs are
successfully used as incentive structures to increase the amount of
energy produced by RES. Because of the stochastic nature of large
scale integration of distributed generation, many problems have
occurred regarding the quality and stability of supply. Hence, a
macroscopic model was developed in order to optimize the power
supply of the local energy infrastructure, which includes electricity,
natural gas, fuel oil and district heating as energy carriers. Unique
features of the model are the integration of RES and the adoption of
Feed-in Tariffs into one optimization stage. Sensitivity studies are
carried out to examine the system behavior under changing profits
for the feed-in of RES. With a setup of three energy exchanging
regions and a multi-period optimization, the impact of costs and
profits are determined.
Abstract: Conception is the primordial part in the realization of
a computer system. Several tools have been used to help inventors to
describe their software. These tools knew a big success in the
relational databases domain since they permit to generate SQL script
modeling the database from an Entity/Association model. However,
with the evolution of the computer domain, the relational databases
proved their limits and object-relational model became used more
and more. Tools of present conception don't support all new concepts
introduced by this model and the syntax of the SQL3 language. We
propose in this paper a tool of help to the conception and
implementation of object-relational databases called «NAVIGTOOLS"
that allows the user to generate script modeling its database
in SQL3 language. This tool bases itself on the Entity/Association
and navigational model for modeling the object-relational databases.
Abstract: The H.264/AVC standard is a highly efficient video
codec providing high-quality videos at low bit-rates. As employing
advanced techniques, the computational complexity has been
increased. The complexity brings about the major problem in the
implementation of a real-time encoder and decoder. Parallelism is the
one of approaches which can be implemented by multi-core system.
We analyze macroblock-level parallelism which ensures the same bit
rate with high concurrency of processors. In order to reduce the
encoding time, dynamic data partition based on macroblock region is
proposed. The data partition has the advantages in load balancing and
data communication overhead. Using the data partition, the encoder
obtains more than 3.59x speed-up on a four-processor system. This
work can be applied to other multimedia processing applications.
Abstract: In present work the problem of the ITER fusion
plasma neutron source parameter reconstruction using only the
Vertical Neutron Camera data was solved. The possibility of neutron
source parameter reconstruction was estimated by the numerical
simulations and the analysis of adequateness of mathematic model
was performed. The neutron source was specified in a parametric
form. The numerical analysis of solution stability with respect to data
distortion was done. The influence of the data errors on the
reconstructed parameters is shown:
• is reconstructed with errors less than 4% at all examined values
of δ (until 60%);
• is determined with errors less than 10% when δ do not overcome
5%;
• is reconstructed with relative error more than 10 %;
• integral intensity of the neutron source is determined with error
10% while δ error is less than 15%;
where -error of signal measurements, (R0,Z0), the plasma center

Abstract: In this paper, a recursive algorithm for the
computation of 2-D DCT using Ramanujan Numbers is proposed.
With this algorithm, the floating-point multiplication is completely
eliminated and hence the multiplierless algorithm can be
implemented using shifts and additions only. The orthogonality of
the recursive kernel is well maintained through matrix factorization
to reduce the computational complexity. The inherent parallel
structure yields simpler programming and hardware implementation
and provides

very much less complex when compared to other recent multiplierless
algorithms.
Abstract: In this paper we explore the application of a formal proof system to verification problems in cryptography. Cryptographic properties concerning correctness or security of some cryptographic algorithms are of great interest. Beside some basic lemmata, we explore an implementation of a complex function that is used in cryptography. More precisely, we describe formal properties of this implementation that we computer prove. We describe formalized probability distributions (o--algebras, probability spaces and condi¬tional probabilities). These are given in the formal language of the formal proof system Isabelle/HOL. Moreover, we computer prove Bayes' Formula. Besides we describe an application of the presented formalized probability distributions to cryptography. Furthermore, this paper shows that computer proofs of complex cryptographic functions are possible by presenting an implementation of the Miller- Rabin primality test that admits formal verification. Our achievements are a step towards computer verification of cryptographic primitives. They describe a basis for computer verification in cryptography. Computer verification can be applied to further problems in crypto-graphic research, if the corresponding basic mathematical knowledge is available in a database.
Abstract: Grid computing is a high performance computing
environment to solve larger scale computational applications. Grid
computing contains resource management, job scheduling, security
problems, information management and so on. Job scheduling is a
fundamental and important issue in achieving high performance in
grid computing systems. However, it is a big challenge to design an
efficient scheduler and its implementation. In Grid Computing, there
is a need of further improvement in Job Scheduling algorithm to
schedule the light-weight or small jobs into a coarse-grained or
group of jobs, which will reduce the communication time,
processing time and enhance resource utilization. This Grouping
strategy considers the processing power, memory-size and
bandwidth requirements of each job to realize the real grid system.
The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheduling
algorithm efficiently reduces the processing time of jobs in
comparison to others.
Abstract: In switch mode power inverters, small sized inverters
can be obtained by increasing the switching frequency. Switching
frequency increment causes high driver losses. Also, high dt
di
and
dt
dv
produced by the switching action creates high Electromagnetic
Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). In this
paper, a series half bridge series resonant inverter circuit is simulated
and evaluated practically to demonstrate the turn-on and turn-off
conditions during zero or close to zero voltage switching. Also, the
reverse recovery current effects of the body diode of the MOSFETs
were investigated by operating above and below resonant frequency.
Abstract: Animation is simply defined as the sequencing of a
series of static images to generate the illusion of movement. Most
people believe that actual drawings or creation of the individual
images is the animation, when in actuality it is the arrangement of
those static images that conveys the motion. To become an animator,
it is often assumed that needed the ability to quickly design
masterpiece after masterpiece. Although some semblance of artistic
skill is a necessity for the job, the real key to becoming a great
animator is in the comprehension of timing. This paper will use a
combination of sprite animation, frame animation, and some other
techniques to cause a group of multi-colored static images to slither
around in the bounded area. In addition to slithering, the images
will also change the color of different parts of their body, much like
the real world creatures that have this amazing ability to change the
colors on their bodies do. This paper was implemented by using
Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE).
It is both time-consuming and expensive to create animations,
regardless if they are created by hand or by using motion-capture
equipment. If the animators could reuse old animations and even
blend different animations together, a lot of work would be saved in
the process. The main objective of this paper is to examine a method
for blending several animations together in real time. This paper
presents and analyses a solution using Weighted Skeleton
Animation (WSA) resulting in limited CPU time and memory waste
as well as saving time for the animators. The idea presented is
described in detail and implemented. In this paper, text animation,
vertex animation, sprite part animation and whole sprite animation
were tested.
In this research paper, the resolution, smoothness and movement
of animated images will be carried out from the parameters, which
will be obtained from the experimental research of implementing
this paper.
Abstract: European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) is the European reference for interoperable and safer signaling systems to efficiently manage trains running. If implemented, it allows trains cross seamlessly intra-European national borders. ERTMS has defined a secure communication protocol, EURORADIO, based on open communication networks. Its RadioInfill function can improve the reaction of the signaling system to changes in line conditions, avoiding unnecessary braking: its advantages in terms of power saving and travel time has been analyzed. In this paper a software implementation of the EURORADIO protocol with RadioInfill for ERTMS Level 1 using GSM-R is illustrated as part of the SR-Secure Italian project. In this building-blocks architecture the EURORADIO layers communicates together through modular Application Programm Interfaces. Security coding rules and railway industry requirements specified by EN 50128 standard have been respected. The proposed implementation has successfully passed conformity tests and has been tested on a computer-based simulator.
Abstract: This is an applied research to propose the method for
price quotation for a contract electronics manufacturer. It has had a
precise price quoting method but such method could not quickly
provide a result as the customer required. This reduces the ability of
company to compete in this kind of business. In this case, the cause
of long time quotation process was analyzed. A lot of product
features have been demanded by customer. By checking routine
processes, it was found that high fraction of quoting time was used
for production time estimating which has effected to the
manufacturing or production cost. Then the historical data of
products including types, number of components, assembling
method, and their assembling time were used to analyze the key
components affecting to production time. The price quoting model
then was proposed. The implementation of proposed model was able
to remarkably reduce quoting time with an acceptable required
precision.
Abstract: In this paper, we will present an architecture for the
implementation of a real time stereoscopic images correction's
approach. This architecture is parallel and makes use of several
memory blocs in which are memorized pre calculated data relating to
the cameras used for the acquisition of images. The use of reduced
images proves to be essential in the proposed approach; the
suggested architecture must so be able to carry out the real time
reduction of original images.
