Abstract: In this study, a comprehensive approach has been adopted to examine in detail the effect of various hook geometries on bond-slip characteristics. Extensive single fibre pull-out tests on ultra-high performance matrix with three different W/B ratios and embedded lengths have been carried out. Test results showed that the mechanical deformation of fibre hook is the main mechanism governing the pull-out behaviour. Furthermore, the quantitative analyses have been completed to compare the hook design contribution of 3D, 4D and 5D fibres to assess overall pull-out behaviour. It was also revealed that there is a strong relationship between the magnitude of hook contribution and W/B ratio (i.e. matrix strength). Reducing the W/B ratio from 0.20 to 0.11 greatly optimizes the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) and enables better mobilization, straightening of the hook and results in bond-slip-hardening behaviour.
Abstract: Prior literature in the field of adaptive and
personalized learning sequence in e-learning have proposed and
implemented various mechanisms to improve the learning process
such as individualization and personalization, but complex to
implement due to expensive algorithmic programming and need of
extensive and prior data. The main objective of personalizing
learning sequence is to maximize learning by dynamically selecting
the closest teaching operation in order to achieve the learning
competency of learner. In this paper, a revolutionary technique has
been proposed and tested to perform individualization and
personalization using modified reversed roulette wheel selection
algorithm that runs at O(n). The technique is simpler to implement
and is algorithmically less expensive compared to other revolutionary
algorithms since it collects the dynamic real time performance matrix
such as examinations, reviews, and study to form the RWSA single
numerical fitness value. Results show that the implemented system is
capable of recommending new learning sequences that lessens time
of study based on student's prior knowledge and real performance
matrix.
Abstract: This paper is part of an ongoing research on the
development of systemic maintenance management model Malaysian
university buildings. In order to achieve this aim, there is a need to
develop a performance model against which services are measure.
Measuring performance is a significant part of maintenance
management service delivery. Maintenance organization needs to
know where they are in order to provide user-driven services and to
enhance productivity. The aim of this paper is to formulate a
template or model for university maintenance organization in
Malaysia. The model is based on literature review and survey
questionnaire and has been validated. Through grounded theory, this
paper developed a 8 points matrix for the university maintenance
organizations for measuring and improving their service delivery.
The potential of the model is guide and assists towards providing
value added service delivery through initiating maintenance
according to user value system rather than on the condition of the
building.
Abstract: Maintenance costs incurred on building differs. The
difference can be as results of the types, functions, age, building
health index, size, form height, location and complexity of the
building. These are contributing to the difficulty in maintenance
development of deterministic maintenance cost model. This paper is
concerns with reporting the preliminary findings on the creation of
building maintenance cost distributions for universities in Malaysia.
This study is triggered by the need to provide guides on maintenance
costs distributions for decision making. For this purpose, a survey
questionnaire was conducted to investigate the distribution of
maintenance costs in the universities. Altogether, responses were
received from twenty universities comprising both private and
publicly owned. The research found that engineering services,
roofing and finishes were the elements contributing the larger
segment of the maintenance costs. Furthermore, the study indicates
the significance of maintenance cost distribution as decision making
tool towards maintenance management.
Abstract: In order to research Internet quantificationally and
better model the performance of network, this paper proposes a novel
AS level network performance model (MNPM), it takes autonomous
system (AS) as basic modeling unit, measures E2E performance
between any two outdegrees of an AS and organizes measurement
results into matrix form which called performance matrix (PM).
Inter-AS performance calculation is defined according to performance
information stored in PM. Simulation has been implemented to verify
the correctness of MNPM and a practical application of MNPM
(network congestion detection) is given.
