Abstract: A linear system is called a fully fuzzy linear system (FFLS) if quantities in this system are all fuzzy numbers. For the FFLS, we investigate its solution and develop a new approximate method for solving the FFLS. Observing the numerical results, we find that our method is accurate than the iterative Jacobi and Gauss- Seidel methods on approximating the solution of FFLS.

These parts are distributed geographically in dispersed computer servers, with main focus on the design and development of these subsystems through the use of new and emerging technologies. These parts are interconnected in an interoperable way, using web services for the integration of the subsystems, in order to enhance the user modelling procedure and achieve the goals of the learning process.
Abstract: The removal efficiency of 4-chlorophenol with
different advanced oxidation processes have been studied. Oxidation
experiments were carried out using two 4-chlorophenol
concentrations: 100 mg L-1 and 250 mg L-1 and UV generated from a
KrCl excilamp with (molar ratio H2O2: 4-chlorophenol = 25:1) and
without H2O2, and, with Fenton process (molar ratio H2O2:4-
chlorophenol of 25:1 and Fe2+ concentration of 5 mg L-1).
The results show that there is no significant difference in the 4-
chlorophenol conversion when using one of the three assayed
methods. However, significant concentrations of the photoproductos
still remained in the media when the chosen treatment involves UV
without hydrogen peroxide. Fenton process removed all the
intermediate photoproducts except for the hydroquinone and the
1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene. In the case of UV and hydrogen peroxide
all the intermediate photoproducts are removed.
Microbial bioassays were carried out utilising the naturally
luminescent bacterium Vibrio fischeri and a genetically modified
Pseudomonas putida isolated from a waste treatment plant receiving
phenolic waste. The results using V. fischeri show that with samples
after degradation, only the UV treatment showed toxicity (IC50 =38)
whereas with H2O2 and Fenton reactions the samples exhibited no
toxicity after treatment in the range of concentrations studied. Using
the Pseudomonas putida biosensor no toxicity could be detected for
all the samples following treatment due to the higher tolerance of the
organism to phenol concentrations encountered.
Abstract: Parallel Prefix addition is a technique for improving
the speed of binary addition. Due to continuing integrating intensity
and the growing needs of portable devices, low-power and highperformance
designs are of prime importance. The classical parallel
prefix adder structures presented in the literature over the years
optimize for logic depth, area, fan-out and interconnect count of logic
circuits. In this paper, a new architecture for performing 8-bit, 16-bit
and 32-bit Parallel Prefix addition is proposed. The proposed prefix
adder structures is compared with several classical adders of same
bit width in terms of power, delay and number of computational
nodes. The results reveal that the proposed structures have the least
power delay product when compared with its peer existing Prefix
adder structures. Tanner EDA tool was used for simulating the adder
designs in the TSMC 180 nm and TSMC 130 nm technologies.
Abstract: This study aims to demonstrate the quantification of
peptides based on isotope dilution surface enhanced Raman
scattering (IDSERS). SERS spectra of phenylalanine (Phe), leucine
(Leu) and two peptide sequences TGQIFK (T13) and
YSFLQNPQTSLCFSESIPTPSNR (T6) as part of the 22-kDa
human growth hormone (hGH) were obtained on Ag-nanoparticle
covered substrates. On the basis of the dominant Phe and Leu
vibrational modes, precise partial least squares (PLS) prediction
models were built enabling the determination of unknown T13 and
T6 concentrations. Detection of hGH in its physiological
concentration in order to investigate the possibility of protein
quantification has been achieved.
Abstract: The hydromagnetic flow of a Maxwell fluid past a vertical stretching sheet with thermophoresis is considered. The impact of chemical reaction species to the flow is analyzed for the first time by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The h-curves for the flow boundary layer equations are presented graphically. Several values of wall skin friction, heat and mass transfer are obtained and discussed.
Abstract: In this work, Experimental tie-line results and
solubility (binodal) curves were obtained for the ternary systems
(water + acetic acid + methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK)), (water +
lactic acid+ methyl isobutyl ketone) at T = 294.15K and atmospheric
pressure. The consistency of the values of the experimental tie-lines
was determined through the Othmer-Tobias and Hands correlations.
For the extraction effectiveness of solvents, the distribution and
selectivity curves were plotted. In addition, these experimental tieline
data were also correlated with NRTL model. The interaction
parameters for the NRTL model were retrieved from the obtained
experimental results by means of a combination of the homotopy
method and the genetic algorithms.
Abstract: The present study is concerned with the absorption
center of photophoresis within a micro-sized and spheroidal particle in
a gaseous medium. A particle subjected to an intense light beam can
absorb electromagnetic energy within the particle unevenly, which
results in photophoretic force to drive the particle in motion. By
evaluating the energy distribution systematically at various conditions,
the study focuses on the effects of governing parameters, such as
particle aspect ratio, size parameter, refractivity, and absorptivity, on
the heat source function within the particle and their potential
influences to the photophoresis.
Abstract: This paper presents a low cost design of heart beat monitoring device using reflectance mode PhotoPlethysmography (PPG). PPG is known for its simple construction, ease of use and cost effectiveness and can provide information about the changes in cardiac activity as well as aid in earlier non-invasive diagnostics. The proposed device is divided into three phases. First is the detection of pulses through the fingertip. The signal is then passed to the signal processing unit for the purpose of amplification, filtering and digitizing. Finally the heart rate is calculated and displayed on the computer using parallel port interface. The paper is concluded with prototyping of the device followed by verification procedure of the heartbeat signal obtained in laboratory setting.
Abstract: A Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a radioisotope imaging technique that illustrates the organs and the metabolisms of the human body. This technique is based on the simultaneous detection of 511 keV annihilation photons, annihilated as a result of electrons annihilating positrons that radiate from positron-emitting radioisotopes that enter biological active molecules in the body. This study was conducted on ten patients in an effort to conduct patient-related experimental studies. Dosage monitoring for the bladder, which was the organ that received the highest dose during PET applications, was conducted for 24 hours. Assessment based on measuring urination activities after injecting patients was also a part of this study. The MIRD method was used to conduct dosage calculations for results obtained from experimental studies. Results obtained experimentally and theoretically were assessed comparatively.
Abstract: A full six degrees of freedom (6-DOF) flight dynamics
model is proposed for the accurate prediction of short and long-range
trajectories of high spin and fin-stabilized projectiles via atmospheric
flight to final impact point. The projectiles is assumed to be both rigid
(non-flexible), and rotationally symmetric about its spin axis launched
at low and high pitch angles. The mathematical model is based on the
full equations of motion set up in the no-roll body reference frame and
is integrated numerically from given initial conditions at the firing
site. The projectiles maneuvering motion depends on the most
significant force and moment variations, in addition to wind and
gravity. The computational flight analysis takes into consideration the
Mach number and total angle of attack effects by means of the
variable aerodynamic coefficients. For the purposes of the present
work, linear interpolation has been applied from the tabulated database
of McCoy-s book. The developed computational method gives
satisfactory agreement with published data of verified experiments and
computational codes on atmospheric projectile trajectory analysis for
various initial firing flight conditions.
Abstract: The thermal, epithermal and fast fluxes were
calculated for three irradiation channels at Egypt Second Research
Reactor (ETRR-2) using CITVAP code. The validity of the
calculations was verified by experimental measurements. There are
some deviations between measurements and calculations. This is due
to approximations in the calculation models used, homogenization of
regions, condensation of energy groups and uncertainty in nuclear
data used. Neutron flux data for the three irradiation channels are
now available. This would enable predicting the irradiation
conditions needed for future radioisotope production.
Abstract: This paper presents a methodology towards the emulation of the electrical power consumption of the RF device during the cellular phone/handset transmission mode using the LTE technology. The emulation methodology takes the physical environmental variables and the logical interface between the baseband and the RF system as inputs to compute the emulated power dissipation of the RF device. The emulated power, in between the measured points corresponding to the discrete values of the logical interface parameters is computed as a polynomial interpolation using polynomial basis functions. The evaluation of polynomial and spline curve fitting models showed a respective divergence (test error) of 8% and 0.02% from the physically measured power consumption. The precisions of the instruments used for the physical measurements have been modeled as intervals. We have been able to model the power consumption of the RF device operating at 5MHz using homotopy between 2 continuous power consumptions of the RF device operating at the bandwidths 3MHz and 10MHz.

Abstract: The effect of a chiral bianisotropic substrate on the
complex resonant frequency of a rectangular microstrip resonator has
been studied on the basis of the integral equation formulation. The
analysis is based on numerical resolution of the integral equation
using Galerkin procedure for moment method in the spectral domain.
This work aim first to study the effect of the chirality of a
bianisotopic substrate upon the resonant frequency and the half
power bandwidth, second the effect of a magnetic anisotropy via an
asymptotic approach for very weak substrate upon the resonant
frequency and the half power bandwidth has been investigated. The
obtained results are compared with previously published work [11-9],
they were in good agreement.
Abstract: This study carried out in order to investigate the
effects of salinity on carbon isotope discrimination (Δ) of shoots and
roots of four sugar beet cultivars (cv) including Madison (British
origin) and three Iranian culivars (7233-P12, 7233-P21 and 7233-P29).
Plants were grown in sand culture medium in greenhouse conditions.
Plants irrigated with saline water (tap water as control, 50 mM, 150
mM, 250 mM and 350 mM of NaCl + CaCl2 in 5 to 1 molar ratio)
from 4 leaves stage for 16 weeks. Carbon isotope discrimination
significantly decreased with increasing salinity. Significant
differences of Δ between shoot and root were observed in all cvs and
all levels of salinity. Madison cv showed lower Δ in shoot and root
than other three cvs at all levels of salinity expect control, but cv
7233-P29 had significantly higher Δ values at saline conditions of 150
mM and above. Therefore, Δ might be applicable, as a useful tool, for
study of salinity tolerance of sugar beet genotypes.
Abstract: The new status generated by technological advancements and changes in the global economy raises important issues on how communities and organisations need to innovate upon their traditional processes in order to adapt to the challenges of the Knowledge Society. The DialogoS+ European project aims to study the role of and promote social dialogue in the banking sector, strengthen the link between old and new members and make social dialogue at the European level a force for innovation and change, also given the context of the international crisis emerging in 2008- 2009. Under the scope of DialogoS+, this paper describes how the community of Europe-s banking sector trade unions attempted to adapt to the challenges of the Knowledge Society by exploiting the benefits of new channels of communication, learning, knowledge generation and diffusion focusing on the concept of roadmapping. Important dimensions of social dialogue such as collective bargaining and working conditions are addressed.
Abstract: Based on the homotopy perturbation method (HPM)
and Padé approximants (PA), approximate and exact solutions are
obtained for cubic Boussinesq and modified Boussinesq equations.
The obtained solutions contain solitary waves, rational solutions.
HPM is used for analytic treatment to those equations and PA for
increasing the convergence region of the HPM analytical solution.
The results reveal that the HPM with the enhancement of PA is a
very effective, convenient and quite accurate to such types of partial
differential equations.
Abstract: This paper tries to shed light on the existence of a bank lending channel (BLC) in South Eastern European countries (SEE). Based on a VAR framework we test the responsiveness of credit supply to monetary policy shocks. By compiling a new data set and using the reserve requirement ratio, among others, as the policy instrument we measure the effectiveness of the BLC and the buffering effect of the banks in the SEE countries. The results indicate that loan supply is significantly affected by shifts in monetary policy, when demand factors are controlled. Furthermore, by analyzing the effect of the Greek banks in the region we conclude that Greek banks do buffer the negative effects of monetary policy transmission. By having a significant market share of the SEE-s banking markets we argue that Greek banks influence positively the economic growth of SEE countries.
Abstract: A number of mass spectrometry applications are already available as web-based and windows-based systems to calculate isotope pattern and to display the mass spectrum based on the specific molecular formula besides providing necessary information. These applications were evaluated and compared with our new alternative application called Theoretical Isotope Generator (TIG) in terms of its functionality and features provided to prove this new application is working better and performing well. TIG provides extra features than others, complete with several functionality such as drawing, normalizing and zooming the generated graph that convey with the molecular information in a number of formats by providing the details of the calculation and molecules. Thus, any chemist, students, lecturers and researchers from anywhere could use TIG to gain related information on molecules and their relative intensity.
