Abstract: In this treatise we will study the capability of static
compensator for reactive power to stabilize sheen voltage with motor
loading on power networks system. We also explain the structure and main function of STATCOM and the method to control it using STATCOM transformer current to simultaneously predict after
telling about the necessity of FACTS tools to compensate in power networks. Then we study topology and controlling system to stabilize
voltage during start of inductive motor. The outcome of stimulat by MATLAB software supports presented controlling idea and
system in the treatise.
Abstract: This paper considers the robust exponential stability issues for a class of uncertain switched neutral system which delays switched according to the switching rule. The system under consideration includes both stable and unstable subsystems. The uncertainties considered in this paper are norm bounded, and possibly time varying. Based on multiple Lyapunov functional approach and dwell-time technique, the time-dependent switching rule is designed depend on the so-called average dwell time of stable subsystems as well as the ratio of the total activation time of stable subsystems and unstable subsystems. It is shown that by suitably controlling the switching between the stable and unstable modes, the robust stabilization of the switched uncertain neutral systems can be achieved. Two simulation examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Abstract: An overview of the important aspects of managing
and controlling industrial effluent discharges to public sewers namely
sampling, characterization, quantification and legislative controls has
been presented. The findings have been validated by means of a case
study covering three industrial sectors namely, tanning, textile
finishing and food processing industries. Industrial effluents
discharges were found to be best monitored by systematic and
automatic sampling and quantified using water meter readings
corrected for evaporative and consumptive losses. Based on the
treatment processes employed in the public owned treatment works
and the chemical oxygen demand and biochemical oxygen demand
levels obtained, the effluent from all the three industrial sectors
studied were found to lie in the toxic zone. Thus, physico-chemical
treatment of these effluents is required to bring them into the
biodegradable zone. KL values (quoted to base e) were greater than
0.50 day-1 compared to 0.39 day-1 for typical municipality
wastewater.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose use of convolutional codes
for file dispersal. The proposed method is comparable in complexity
to the information Dispersal Algorithm proposed by M.Rabin and for
particular choices of (non-binary) convolutional codes, is almost as
efficient as that algorithm in terms of controlling expansion in the
total storage. Further, our proposed dispersal method allows string
search.
Abstract: We present a BeeBot, Binus Multi-client Intelligent Telepresence Robot, a custom-build robot system specifically designed for teleconference with multiple person using omni directional actuator. The robot is controlled using a computer networks, so the manager/supervisor can direct the robot to the intended person to start a discussion/inspection. People tracking and autonomous navigation are intelligent features of this robot. We build a web application for controlling the multi-client telepresence robot and open-source teleconference system used. Experimental result presented and we evaluated its performance.
Abstract: Springback is a significant problem in the sheet metal
forming process. When the tools are released after the stage of
forming, the product springs out, because of the action of the internal
stresses. In many cases the deviation of form is too large and the
compensation of the springback is necessary. The precise prediction
of the springback of product is increasingly significant for the design
of the tools and for compensation because of the higher ratio of the
yield stress to the elastic modulus.
The main object in this paper was to study the effect of the
anisotropy on the springback for three directions of rolling: 0°, 45°
and 90°. At the same time, we highlighted the influence of three
different metallic materials: Aluminum, Steel and Galvanized steel.
The original of our purpose consist on tests which are ensured by
adapting a U-type stretching-bending device on a tensile testing
machine, where we studied and quantified the variation of the
springback according to the direction of rolling. We also showed the
role of lubrication in the reduction of the springback.
Moreover, in this work, we have studied important characteristics
in deep drawing process which is a springback. We have presented
defaults that are showed in this process and many parameters
influenced a springback.
Finally, our results works lead us to understand the influence of
grains orientation with different metallic materials on the springback
and drawing some conclusions how to concept deep drawing tools. In
addition, the conducted work represents a fundamental contribution
in the discussion the industry application.
Abstract: In this paper, we describe a rule-based message passing method to support developing collaborative applications, in which multiple users share resources in distributed environments. Message communications of applications in collaborative environments tend to be very complex because of the necessity to manage context situations such as sharing events, access controlling of users, and network places. In this paper, we propose a message communications method based on unification of artificial intelligence and logic programming for defining rules of such context information in a procedural object-oriented programming language. We also present an implementation of the method as java classes.
Abstract: Chatter vibration has been a troublesome problem
for a machine tool toward the high precision and high speed machining.
Essentially, the machining performance is determined by the dynamic
characteristics of the machine tool structure and dynamics of cutting
process, which can further be identified in terms of the stability lobe
diagram. Therefore, realization on the machine tool dynamic behavior
can help to enhance the cutting stability. To assess the dynamic
characteristics and machining stability of a vertical milling system
under the influence of a linear guide, this study developed a finite
element model integrated the modeling of linear components with the
implementation of contact stiffness at the rolling interface. Both the
finite element simulations and experimental measurements reveal that
the linear guide with different preload greatly affects the vibration
behavior and milling stability of the vertical column spindle head
system, which also clearly indicate that the predictions of the
machining stability agree well with the cutting tests. It is believed that
the proposed model can be successfully applied to evaluate the
dynamics performance of machine tool systems of various
configurations.
Abstract: Lateral-torsional buckling (LTB) is one of the
phenomenae controlling the ultimate bending strength of steel Ibeams
carrying distributed loads on top flange. Built-up I-sections
are used as main beams and distributors. This study investigates the
ultimate bending strength of such beams with sections of different
classes including slender elements. The nominal strengths of the
selected beams are calculated for different unsupported lengths
according to the Provisions of the American Institute of Steel
Constructions (AISC-LRFD). These calculations are compared with
results of a nonlinear inelastic study using accurate FE model for this
type of loading. The goal is to investigate the performance of the
provisions for the selected sections. Continuous distributed load at
the top flange of the beams was applied at the FE model.
Imperfections of different values are implemented to the FE model to
examine their effect on the LTB of beams at failure, and hence, their
effect on the ultimate strength of beams. The study also introduces a
procedure for evaluating the performance of the provisions compared
with the accurate FEA results of the selected sections. A simplified
design procedure is given and recommendations for future code
updates are made.
Abstract: The tensile properties of Mg-3%Al nanocrystalline
alloys were investigated at different test environment. Bulk
nanocrystalline samples of these alloy was successfully prepared by
mechanical alloying (MA) followed by cold compaction, sintering,
and hot extrusion process. The crystal size of the consolidated milled
sample was calculated by X-Ray line profile analysis. The
deformation mechanism and microstructural characteristic at
different test condition was discussed extensively. At room
temperature, relatively lower value of activation volume (AV) and
higher value of strain rate sensitivity (SRS) suggests that new rate
controlling mechanism accommodating plastic flow in the present
nanocrystalline sample. The deformation behavior and the
microstructural character of the present samples were discussed in
details.
Abstract: Quantum cryptography offers a way of key agreement,
which is unbreakable by any external adversary. Authentication is
of crucial importance, as perfect secrecy is worthless if the identity
of the addressee cannot be ensured before sending important information.
Message authentication has been studied thoroughly, but no
approach seems to be able to explicitly counter meet-in-the-middle
impersonation attacks. The goal of this paper is the development of
an authentication scheme being resistant against active adversaries
controlling the communication channel. The scheme is built on top
of a key-establishment protocol and is unconditionally secure if built
upon quantum cryptographic key exchange. In general, the security
is the same as for the key-agreement protocol lying underneath.
Abstract: In this study, ZnO nano rods and ZnO ultrafine particles were synthesized by Gel-casting method. The synthesized ZnO powder has a hexagonal zincite structure. The ZnO aggregates with rod-like morphology are typically 1.4 μm in length and 120 nm in diameter, which consist of many small nanocrystals with diameters of 10 nm. Longer wires connected by many hexahedral ZnO nanocrystals were obtained after calcinations at the temperature over 600° C.The crystalline structures and morphologies of the powder have been characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Scaning electron microscopy (SEM).The result shows that the different preparation conditions such as concentration H2O, calcinations time and calcinations temperature have a lot of influences upon the properties of nano ZnO powders, an increase in the temperature of the calcinations results in an increase of the grain size and also the increase of the calcinations time in high temperature makes the size of the grains bigger. The existences of extra watter prevent nano grains from improving like rod morphology. We have obtained the smallest grain size of ZnO powder by controlling the process conditions. Finally In a suitable condition, a novel nanostructure, namely bi-rod-like ZnO nano rods was found which is different from known ZnO nanostructures.
Abstract: Countries in recession, among them Croatia, have
lower tax revenues as a result of unfavorable economic situation,
which is decrease of the economic activities and unemployment. The
global tax base has decreased. In order to create larger state revenues,
states use the institute of tax authorities. By controlling transfer
pricing in the international companies and using certain techniques,
tax authorities can create greater tax obligations for the companies in
a short period of time.
Abstract: In rotating machinery one of the critical components
that is prone to premature failure is the rolling bearing.
Consequently, early warning of an imminent bearing failure is much
critical to the safety and reliability of any high speed rotating
machines. This study is concerned with the application of Recurrence
Quantification Analysis (RQA) in fault detection of rolling element
bearings in rotating machinery. Based on the results from this study it
is reported that the RQA variable, percent determinism, is sensitive
to the type of fault investigated and therefore can provide useful
information on bearing damage in rolling element bearings.
Abstract: The effect of different combinations of response
feedback on the performance of active control system on nonlinear
frames has been studied in this paper. To this end different feedback
combinations including displacement, velocity, acceleration and full
response feedback have been utilized in controlling the response of
an eight story bilinear hysteretic frame which has been subjected to a
white noise excitation and controlled by eight actuators which could
fully control the frame. For active control of nonlinear frame
Newmark nonlinear instantaneous optimal control algorithm has been
used which a diagonal matrix has been selected for weighting
matrices in performance index. For optimal design of active control
system while the objective has been to reduce the maximum drift to
below the yielding level, Distributed Genetic Algorithm (DGA) has
been used to determine the proper set of weighting matrices. The
criteria to assess the effect of each combination of response feedback
have been the minimum required control force to reduce the
maximum drift to below the yielding drift. The results of numerical
simulation show that the performance of active control system is
dependent on the type of response feedback where the velocity
feedback is more effective in designing optimal control system in
comparison with displacement and acceleration feedback. Also using
full feedback of response in controller design leads to minimum
control force amongst other combinations. Also the distributed
genetic algorithm shows acceptable convergence speed in solving the
optimization problem of designing active control systems.
Abstract: Scale defects are common surface defects in hot steel rolling. The modelling of such defects is problematic and their causes are not straightforward. In this study, we investigated genetic algorithms in search for a mathematical solution to scale formation. For this research, a high-dimensional data set from hot steel rolling process was gathered. The synchronisation of the variables as well as the allocation of the measurements made on the steel strip were solved before the modelling phase.
Abstract: Application of neural networks in execution of
programmed pulse width modulation (PPWM) of a voltage source
inverter (VSI) is studied in this paper. Using the proposed method it is
possible to cancel out the desired harmonics in output of VSI in
addition to control the magnitude of fundamental harmonic,
contineously. By checking the non-trained values and a performance
index, the most appropriate neural network is proposed. It is shown
that neural networks may solve the custom difficulties of practical
utilization of PPWM such as large size of memory, complex digital
circuits and controlling the magnitude of output voltage in a discrete
manner.
Abstract: A major challenge in biomaterials research is the
regulation of protein adsorption which is a key factor for controlling
the subsequent cell adhesion at implant surfaces. The aim of the
present study was to control the adsorption of fibronectin (FN) and
the attachment of MG-63 osteoblasts with an electronic
nanostructure. Shallow doping line lattices with a period of 260 nm
were produced for this purpose by implantation of phosphorous in
silicon wafers. Protein coverage was determined after incubating the
substrate with FN by means of an immunostaining procedure and the
measurement of the fluorescence intensity with a TECAN analyzer.
We observed an increased amount of adsorbed FN on the
nanostructure compared to control substrates. MG-63 osteoblasts
were cultivated for 24h on FN-incubated substrates and their
morphology was assessed by SEM. Preferred orientation and
elongation of the cells in direction of the doping lattice lines was
observed on FN-coated nanostructures.
Abstract: Active vibration control is an important problem in
structures. The objective of active vibration control is to reduce the vibrations of a system by automatic modification of the system-s
structural response. In this paper, the modeling and design of a fast
output sampling feedback controller for a smart flexible beam system embedded with shear sensors and actuators for SISO system using
Timoshenko beam theory is proposed. FEM theory, Timoshenko beam theory and the state space techniques are used to model the
aluminum cantilever beam. For the SISO case, the beam is divided into 5 finite elements and the control actuator is placed at finite
element position 1, whereas the sensor is varied from position 2 to 5, i.e., from the nearby fixed end to the free end. Controllers are
designed using FOS method and the performance of the designed FOS controller is evaluated for vibration control for 4 SISO models
of the same plant. The effect of placing the sensor at different locations on the beam is observed and the performance of the
controller is evaluated for vibration control. Some of the limitations of the Euler-Bernoulli theory such as the neglection of shear and
axial displacement are being considered here, thus giving rise to an accurate beam model. Embedded shear sensors and actuators have
been considered in this paper instead of the surface mounted sensors
and actuators for vibration suppression because of lot of advantages. In controlling the vibration modes, the first three dominant modes of
vibration of the system are considered.
Abstract: In this paper, a new model predictive PID controller
design method for the slip suppression control of EVs (electric
vehicles) is proposed. The proposed method aims to improve the
maneuverability and the stability of EVs by controlling the wheel
slip ratio. The optimal control gains of PID framework are derived
by the model predictive control (MPC) algorithm. There also include
numerical simulation results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the
method.
