Abstract: In Iran, due to abundance of energy resources, energy consumption is extraordinarily higher than international standards and transportation sector is considered to be one of the major consumers of energy. Moreover, air pollution in urban areas as a result of high dependence on private vehicle and lower standards of vehicles, high subsidies spent on fuel and time waste due to traffic congestion in urban areas all have led to speculations on new strategies and policies in order to control energy consumption in transportation sector. These strategies and policies will be introduced in this paper and their consequences will be analyzed with consideration to socio-economic factors affecting the urban society of Iran. Besides, the intention is to suggest and analyze new approaches such as broader application of public transportation system, demand management in transport sector, replacement of deteriorated vehicles, quality improvement in car manufacture and introduction of substitute fuels.
Abstract: This study aims at investigating the empirical
relationships between risk preference, internet preference, and
internet knowledge which are known as user characteristics, in
addition to perceived risk of the customers on the internet purchase
intention. In order to test the relationships between the variables of
model 174, a questionnaire was collected from the students with
previous online experience. For the purpose of data analysis,
confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation model
(SEM) was used.
Test results show that the perceived risk affects the internet
purchase intention, and increase or decrease of perceived risk
influences the purchase intention when the customer does the internet
shopping. Other factors such as internet preference, knowledge of the
internet, and risk preference affect the internet purchase intention.
Abstract: While in practice negotiation is always a mix of
cooperation and competition, these two elements correspond to
different approaches of the relationship and also different orientations
in term of strategy, techniques, tactics and arguments employed by
the negotiators with related effects and in the end leading to different
outcomes. The levels of honesty, trust and therefore cooperation are
influenced not only by the uncertainty of the situation, the objectives,
stakes or power but also by the orientation given from the very
beginning of the relationship. When negotiation is reduced to a
confrontation of power, participants rely on coercive measures, using
different kinds of threats or make false promises and bluff in order to
establish a more acceptable balance of power.
Most of the negotiators have a tendency to complain about the
unethical aspects of the tactics used by their counterparts while, as
the same time, they are mostly unaware of the sources of influence of
their own vision and practices. In this article, our intention is to
clarify these sources and try to understand what can lead negotiators
to unethical practices.
Abstract: In conducting a case study to analyze the status-quo of
the extremists’ dominance in Egypt, the author of this paper uses
qualitative research method to analyze the evolution of extreme
Islamist groups in Egypt. In conducting this qualitative research, the
author of this paper intends to use several lenses to understand the
rise and the evolution of the hegemony of extremist groups, such as
the Muslim Brotherhood and other groups in Egypt. Therefore, unless
he intends to show an important nexus between the Egyptian groups
and their sister-groups in other countries, he will intentionally
exclude analyzing extreme Islamism of non-Egyptian origins. This
case study relies on the moral disengagement theory to shed light on
the ideological evolution of extremism in Egypt. The goal of this case
study is to help in understanding extreme-Islamism adverse to the
mainstream Islam; therefore, understanding the concept here should
help in preventing similar groups from threatening the international
community.
Abstract: The incidence of oral cancer in Taiwan increased year
by year. It replaced the nasopharyngeal as the top incurrence among
head and neck cancers since 1994. Early examination and earlier
identification for earlier treatment is the most effective medical
treatment for these cancers. Although the government fully subsidized
the expenses with tremendous promotion program for oral cancer
screening, the citizen-s participation remained low. Purpose of this
study is to understand the factors affecting the citizens- behavior
intensions of taking an oral cancer screening. Based on the Theory of
Planned Behavior, this study adopted four distinctive variables in
explaining the captioned behavior intentions.700 questionnaires were
dispatched with 500 valid responses or 71.4% returned by the citizens
with an age 30 or above from the eastern counties of Taiwan. Test
results has shown that attitude toward, subjective norms of, and
perceived behavioral control over the oral cancer screening varied
from some demographic factors to another. The study proofed that
attitude toward, subjective norms of, and perceived behavioral control
over the oral cancer screening had positive impacts on the
corresponding behavior intention. The test concluded that the theory
of planned behavior was appropriate as a theoretical framework in
explaining the influencing factors of intentions of taking oral cancer
screening. This study suggested the healthcare professional should
provide high accessibility of screening services other than just
delivering knowledge on oral cancer to promote the citizens-
intentions of taking the captioned screening. This research also
provided a practical implication to the healthcare professionals when
formulating and implementing promotion instruments for lifting the
screening rate of oral cancer.
Abstract: Information Retrieval has the objective of studying
models and the realization of systems allowing a user to find the
relevant documents adapted to his need of information. The
information search is a problem which remains difficult because the
difficulty in the representing and to treat the natural languages such
as polysemia. Intentional Structures promise to be a new paradigm to
extend the existing documents structures and to enhance the different
phases of documents process such as creation, editing, search and
retrieval. The intention recognition of the author-s of texts can reduce
the largeness of this problem. In this article, we present intentions
recognition system is based on a semi-automatic method of
extraction the intentional information starting from a corpus of text.
This system is also able to update the ontology of intentions for the
enrichment of the knowledge base containing all possible intentions
of a domain. This approach uses the construction of a semi-formal
ontology which considered as the conceptualization of the intentional
information contained in a text. An experiments on scientific
publications in the field of computer science was considered to
validate this approach.
Abstract: Unlike its conventional counterpart, Islamic principles
forbid Islamic banks to take any interest-related income and thus
makes deposits from depositors as an important source of fund for its
operational and financing. Consequently, the risk of deposit
withdrawal by depositors is an important aspect that should be wellmanaged
in Islamic banking. This paper aims to investigate factors
that influence depositors- withdrawal behavior in Islamic banks,
particularly in Malaysia, using the framework of theory of reasoned
action. A total of 368 respondents from Klang valley are involved in
the analysis. The paper finds that all the constructs variable i.e.
normative beliefs, subjective norms, behavioral beliefs, and attitude
towards behavior are perceived to be distinct by the respondents. In
addition, the structural equation model is able to verify the structural
relationships between subjective norms, attitude towards behavior
and behavioral intention. Subjective norms gives more influence to
depositors- decision on deposit withdrawal compared to attitude
towards behavior.
Abstract: With the proliferation of multi-channel retailing, developing a better understanding of the factors that affect customers- purchase behaviors within a multi-channel retail context has become an important topic for practitioners and academics. While many studies have investigated the various customer behaviors associated with brick-and-mortar retailing, online retailing, and brick-and-click retailing, little research has explored how customer shopping value perceptions influence online purchase behaviors within the TV-and-online retail environment. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of TV and online shopping values on online patronage intention. Data collected from 116 respondents in Taiwan are tested against the research model using the partial least squares (PLS) approach. The results indicate that utilitarian and hedonic TV shopping values have indirect, positive influences on online patronage intention through their online counterparts in the TV-and-online retail context. The findings of this study provide several important theoretical and practical implications for multi-channel retailing.
Abstract: Recently, lots of researchers are attracted to retrieving
multimedia database by using some impression words and their values.
Ikezoe-s research is one of the representatives and uses eight pairs of
opposite impression words. We had modified its retrieval interface and
proposed '2D-RIB'. In '2D-RIB', after a retrieval person selects a
single basic music, the system visually shows some other music
around the basic one along relative position. He/she can select one of
them fitting to his/her intention, as a retrieval result. The purpose of
this paper is to improve his/her satisfaction level to the retrieval result
in 2D-RIB. One of our extensions is to define and introduce the
following two measures: 'melody goodness' and 'general acceptance'.
We implement them in different five combinations. According to an
evaluation experiment, both of these two measures can contribute to
the improvement. Another extension is three types of customization.
We have implemented them and clarified which customization is
effective.
Abstract: In the past years, the world has witnessed significant work in the field of Manufacturing. Special efforts have been made in the implementation of new technologies, management and control systems, among many others which have all evolved the field. Closely following all this, due to the scope of new projects and the need of turning the existing flexible ideas into more autonomous and intelligent ones, i.e.: moving toward a more intelligent manufacturing, the present paper emerges with the main aim of contributing to the analysis and a few customization issues of a new iCIM 3000 system at the IPSAM. In this process, special emphasis in made on the material flow problem. For this, besides offering a description and analysis of the system and its main parts, also some tips on how to define other possible alternative material flow scenarios and a partial analysis of the combinatorial nature of the problem are offered as well. All this is done with the intentions of relating it with the use of simulation tools, for which these have been briefly addressed with a special focus on the Witness simulation package. For a better comprehension, the previous elements are supported by a few figures and expressions which would help obtaining necessary data. Such data and others will be used in the future, when simulating the scenarios in the search of the best material flow configurations.
