Abstract: This paper explores competencies that managers of
small firms in Ghana use to enhance operational flexibility towards
the attainment of higher productivity. This is because the requisite
competence required of such managers to be effective performers
continues to be a challenge. Data was collected from managers of
three hundred small firms using a standardized self-completion
questionnaire and analyzed using the Amos-based structural equation
model approach. Findings from factor and confirmatory factor
analyses showed that the only competence exhibited by managers
toward effective performance is realistic practices evident at the
workplace. It is concluded that a manager’s self-confidence and
involvement in areas that he/she is good at, and his/her possession of
skills that enables performance at high capacity are indications of the
manger’s effectiveness. The study outcome provides a knowledge
base helpful to policy-makers, especially in Ghana, in determining
the requisite managerial competences required by small firm
managers for effective performance.

Abstract: As alternative to existing e-government measuring
models, here proposed a new customer centric, service oriented,
simple approach for measuring countries e-Governments. If
successfully implemented, built infrastructure will provide a single egovernment
index number for countries. Main schema is as follows.
Country CIO or equal position government official, at the beginning
of each year will provide to United Nations dedicated web site 4
numbers on behalf of own country: 1) Ratio of available online
public services, to total number of public services, 2) Ratio of
interagency inter ministry online public services to total number of
available online public services, 3) Ratio of total number of citizen
and business entities served online annually to total number of citizen
and business entities served annually online and physically on those
services, 4) Simple index for geographical spread of online served
citizen and business entities. 4 numbers then combined into one index
number by mathematical Average function.
In addition to 4 numbers 5th number can be introduced as service
quality indicator of online public services. If in ordering of countries
index number is equal, 5th criteria will be used.
Notice: This approach is for country’s current e-government
achievement assessment, not for e-government readiness assessment.
Abstract: The study on the design of decorative flower patterns from Suansunandha Palace is a innovative design using flowers grown in Suansunandha Palace as the original sources. Abstract: This study involves a design proposal. The objective of is to create a seat arrangement model for public reading spaces that enable free arrangement without disturbing the users. Through a subjective perception scale, this study explored whether distance between seats and direction of seats influence individual subjective perceptions in a public reading space. This study also involves analysis of user subjective perceptions when reading in the settings on 3 seats at different directions and with 5 distances between seats. The results may be applied to public chair design. This study investigated that (a) whether different directions of seats and distances between seats influence individual subjective perceptions and (b) the acceptable personal space between 2 strangers in a public reading space. The results are shown as follows: (a) the directions of seats and distances between seats influenced individual subjective perceptions. (b) subjective evaluation scores were higher for back-to-back seat directions with Distances A (10cm) and B (62cm) compared with face-to-face and side-by-side seat directions; however, when the seat distance exceeded 114cm (Distance C), no difference existed among the directions of seats. (c) regarding reading in public spaces, when the distance between seats is 10cm only, we recommend arranging the seats in a back-to-back fashion to increase user comfort and arrangement of face-to-face and side- by-side seat directions should be avoided. When the seatarrangement is limited to face-to-face design, the distance between seats should be increased to at least 62cm. Moreover, the distance between seats should be increased to at least 114cm for side- by-side seats to elevate user comfort.

Abstract: Economic growth always correlate positively with the
magnitude of the unemployment rate. This is caused by labor which
one of important variable to keep growth in the real sector of the
region. Meanwhile, the economic structure in districts of Jember
showed an increase of economic activity began to shift towards the
industrial sector and some other economic sectors, so they have an
affects to considerations for policy makers to increase economic
growth in Jember as an autonomous region in East Java Province. At
the fact, SMEs is among the factors driving economic growth in the
region. This is shown by the high amount of SMEs. However,
employment in the sector grew slightly slowed. It is caused by a lack
of productivity in SMEs. Through the analysis of the transformation of
economic structure theory, and the theory of Triple Helix using

Abstract: The potential feasibility of a 9.5 MWe capacity rice straw power plant project in Thailand was studied by evaluating the rice straw resource. The result showed that Thailand had a high rice straw biomass potential at the provincial level, especially, the provinces in the central, northeastern and western Thailand, which could feasibly develop plants. The economic feasibility of project was also investigated. The financial feasibility is also evaluated based on two important factors in the project, i.e., NPV ≥ 0 and IRR ≥ 11%. It was found that the rice straw power plant project at 9.5 MWe was financially feasible with the cost of fuel in the range of 30.6-47.7 USD/t.
Abstract: (European) theme parks invest approximately 10 percent of their yearly turnover into new rides and park improvements. Without these investments these parks assume not to be a very competitive and appealing daytrip for their target audiences. However, the impact of investments in attracting new visitors is not well-known and seems to differ dramatically between parks. This paper presents a case study from the Netherlands in which a small amusement park applied a suggested, not yet proven, investment method. The results of the investment are discussed in (a) the form of return on investment and (b) the success of the predictions with regard to this investment. Suggestions for future research are presented.
Abstract: The concept of competitiveness is currently very
frequently used term. However, the interpretation of its essence is
different. In this paper, one of the many concepts of competitiveness
will be analyzed and that is macroeconomic competitiveness, which
is understood as a process, which is based on the productivity growth
through the growth of key macroeconomic indicators such as
standards of living and employment, where all of these variables
must have a sustainable basis. Given the competition is a relative
quantity it must be constantly compared with the development of
competitiveness in other economies or regions. And this comparison
method is also used in the article that compares the macrocompetitiveness
of selected economies of the European Economic
Area – the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Switzerland and
Germany. The aim of the paper is to verify the hypothesis concerning
the direct correlation between the size of the economy and its
competitiveness.
