The Moderating Effect of Leader Emotional Expressivity on the Relationship between Leader-Member Exchange and Follower Job Satisfaction

This research attempts to explain the moderating effect of the strength of leader emotional expressivity on the direct effect of leader-member exchange (LMX) on follower job satisfaction. Accordingly, quantitative data were collected through surveys from employees of service-rendering companies in Istanbul. The findings of this research have shown that the strength of leader emotional expressivity weakened the favorable effects of LMX on follower job satisfaction for high LMX leaders. In contrast, higher leader emotional expressivity compensates for low levels of LMX and increases follower job satisfaction.

Leader-Member Exchange and Affective Commitment: The Moderating Role of Exchange Ideology

In today’s rapidly changing and increasingly complex environment, organizations have relied on their members’ positive attitude toward their employers. In particular, employees’ organizational commitment (primarily, the affective component) has been recognized as an essential component of organizational functioning and success. Hence, identifying the determinants of affective commitment is one of the most important research issues. This study tested the influence of leader-member exchange (LMX) and exchange ideology on employee’s affective commitment. In addition, the interactive effect of LMX and exchange ideology was examined. Data from 198 members of the Korean military supports each of the hypotheses. Lastly, implications for research and directions for future research are discussed.

A Study of the Relationship of PSI and LMX to Service Providers' CS in Hospitality Industry

The purpose of the current study is to gain insight into the relative role of professional self-image (PSI) for service providers among leader-member exchange (LMX), career success. Lack of studies demonstrated that PSI of service providers affect on their CS. So, it is necessary to, according to service providers- perspective, explore the relationship among LMX and CS in hospitality industry. The result of the current study can suggest strategic directions for hospitality practitioners in terms of constructing LMX relationship, so as to make service providers realize and build their PSI, and to promote their CS. Implications of these findings for hospitality implementations as well as future research directions are subsequently discussed.
