Abstract: Quantum cryptography is described as a point-to-point secure key generation technology that has emerged in recent times in providing absolute security. Researchers have started studying new innovative approaches to exploit the security of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) for a large-scale communication system. A number of approaches and models for utilization of QKD for secure communication have been developed. The uncertainty principle in quantum mechanics created a new paradigm for QKD. One of the approaches for use of QKD involved network fashioned security. The main goal was point-to-point Quantum network that exploited QKD technology for end-to-end network security via high speed QKD. Other approaches and models equipped with QKD in network fashion are introduced in the literature as. A different approach that this paper deals with is using QKD in existing protocols, which are widely used on the Internet to enhance security with main objective of unconditional security. Our work is towards the analysis of the QKD in Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET).
Abstract: Many jobs in society go underground, such as mine mining, tunnel construction and subways, which are vital to the development of society. Once accidents occur in these places, the interruption of traditional wired communication is not conducive to the development of rescue work. In order to realize the positioning, early warning and command functions of underground personnel and improve rescue efficiency, it is necessary to develop and design an emergency ground communication system. It is easy to be subjected to narrowband interference when performing conventional underground communication. Spreading communication can be used for this problem. However, general spread spectrum methods such as direct spread communication are inefficient, so it is proposed to use parallel combined spread spectrum (PCSS) communication to improve efficiency. The PCSS communication not only has the anti-interference ability and the good concealment of the traditional spread spectrum system, but also has a relatively high frequency band utilization rate and a strong information transmission capability. So, this technology has been widely used in practice. This paper presents a PCSS communication model-multiple detection parallel combined spread spectrum (MDPCSS) communication system. In this paper, the principle of MDPCSS communication system is described, that is, the sequence at the transmitting end is processed in blocks and cyclically shifted to facilitate multiple detection at the receiving end. The block diagrams of the transmitter and receiver of the MDPCSS communication system are introduced. At the same time, the calculation formula of the system bit error rate (BER) is introduced, and the simulation and analysis of the BER of the system are completed. By comparing with the common parallel PCSS communication, we can draw a conclusion that it is indeed possible to reduce the BER and improve the system performance. Furthermore, the influence of different pseudo-code lengths selected on the system BER is simulated and analyzed, and the conclusion is that the larger the pseudo-code length is, the smaller the system error rate is.
Abstract: In this paper, we focus on the design of a multi-line
copper wire (MLCW) communication system. First, we construct
our proposed MLCW channel and verify its characteristics based
on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. In addition, we apply Middleton
class A impulsive noise (IN) to the copper channel for further
investigation. Second, the MIMO G.fast system is adopted utilizing
the proposed MLCW channel model and is compared to a single
line G-fast system. Second, the performance of the coded system
is obtained utilizing concatenated interleaved Reed-Solomon (RS)
code with four-dimensional trellis-coded modulation (4D TCM), and
compared to the single line G-fast system. Simulations are obtained
for high quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellations
that are commonly used with G-fast communications, the results
demonstrate that the bit error rate (BER) performance of the coded
MLCW system shows an improvement compared to the single line
G-fast systems.
Abstract: In this paper, we report how to acquire serious victims’ locations in the Acute Stage of Large-scale Disasters, in an Emergency Information Network System designed by us. The background of our concept is based on the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on March 11th, 2011. Through many experiences of national crises caused by earthquakes and tsunamis, we have established advanced communication systems and advanced disaster medical response systems. However, Japan was devastated by huge tsunamis swept a vast area of Tohoku causing a complete breakdown of all the infrastructures including telecommunications. Therefore, we noticed that we need interdisciplinary collaboration between science of disaster medicine, regional administrative sociology, satellite communication technology and systems engineering experts. Communication of emergency information was limited causing a serious delay in the initial rescue and medical operation. For the emergency rescue and medical operations, the most important thing is to identify the number of casualties, their locations and status and to dispatch doctors and rescue workers from multiple organizations. In the case of the Tohoku earthquake, the dispatching mechanism and/or decision support system did not exist to allocate the appropriate number of doctors and locate disaster victims. Even though the doctors and rescue workers from multiple government organizations have their own dedicated communication system, the systems are not interoperable.
Abstract: In this paper, we consider a non-identically independently distributed (non-i.i.d.) Hoyt fading single-input multiple-out put (SIMO) channel, where the transmitter sends some confidential information to the legitimate receiver in presence of an eavesdropper. We formulated the probability of non-zero secrecy mutual information; secure outage probability and average secrecy mutual information (SMI) for the SIMO wireless communication system. The calculation has been carried out using small limit argument approximation (SLAA) on zeroth-order modified Bessel function of first kind. In our proposed model, an eavesdropper observes transmissions of information through another Hoyt fading channel. First, we derived the analytical expression for non-zero secrecy mutual information. Then, we find the secure outage probability to investigate the outage behavior of the proposed model. Finally, we find the average secrecy mutual information. We consider that the channel state information (CSI) is known to legitimate receiver.
Abstract: Systems transforming solar energy into electrical power have emerged as a viable source of clean, renewable energy. Solar power tower technology is a good example of this type of system, which consists of several mobile mirrors, called heliostats, which reflect the sun's radiation to the same point, located on top of a tower at the center of heliostat field, for collection or transformation into another type of energy. The so-called Hermosillo’s Solar Platform (Plataforma Solar de Hermosillo, PSH, in Spanish) is a facility constituted with several heliostats, its aim and scope is for research purposes. In this paper, the implementation of a wireless communication system based on intelligent nodes is proposed in order to allow the communication and control of the heliostats in PSH. Intelligent nodes transmit information from one point to another, and can perform other actions that allow them to adapt to the conditions and limitations of a field of heliostats, thus achieving effective communication system. After deployment of the nodes in the heliostats, tests were conducted to measure the effectiveness of the communication, and determine the feasibility of using the proposed technologies. The test results were always positive, exceeding expectations held for its operation in the field of heliostats. Therefore, it was possible to validate the efficiency of the wireless communication system to be implemented in PSH, allowing communication and control of the heliostats.
Abstract: The conventional Wi-Fi backscatter system can only
process one-to-one communication between the Wi-Fi reader and the
Wi-Fi tag. For improvement of throughput of the conventional system,
this paper proposes the multi-to-multi communication system. In the
proposed system, the interference by the multi-to-multi
communication is effectively cancelled by the orthogonal multiple
access based on the identification code of the tag. Although the
overhead is generated by the procedure for the multi-to-multi
communication, because the procedure is processed by the Wi-Fi
protocol, the overhead is insignificant for the entire communication
procedure. From the numerical results, it is confirmed that the
proposed system has nearly proportional increased throughput in
according to the number of the tag that simultaneously participates in
communication.
Abstract: In this paper, the dependence of soliton pulses with
respect to phase in a 10Gbps, single channel, dispersion
uncompensated telecommunication system was studied. The
characteristic feature of periodic soliton interaction was noted at the
Interaction point (I=6202.5Km) in one collision length of L=12405.1
Km. The interaction point is located for 10Gbps system with an
initial relative spacing (qo) of soliton as 5.28 using Perturbation
theory. It is shown that, when two in-phase solitons are launched,
they interact at the point I=6202.5 Km, but the interaction could be
restricted with introduction of different phase initially. When the
phase of the input solitons increases, the deviation of soliton pulses at
the ‘I’ also increases. We have successfully demonstrated this effect
in a telecommunication set-up in terms of Quality factor (Q), where
the Q=0 for in-phase soliton. The Q was noted to be 125.9, 38.63,
47.53, 59.60, 161.37, and 78.04 for different phases such as 10o, 20o,
30o, 45o, 60o and 90o degrees respectively at Interaction point (I).
Abstract: In wireless communication, space-time block code (STBC), cyclic delay diversity (CDD) and space-time cyclic delay diversity (STCDD)are used as the spatial diversity schemes and have been widely studied for the reliablecommunication. If these schemes are used, the communication system can obtain the improved performance. However, the quality of the system is degraded when the distance between a source and a destination is distant in wireless communication system. In this paper, the cooperative transmission scheme using two sources is proposed and improves the performance of the wireless communication system.
Abstract: The research describes the implementation of a novel and stand-alone system for dynamic hazard warning. The system uses all existing infrastructure already in place like mobile networks, a laptop/PC and the small installation software. The geospatial dataset are the maps of a region which are again frugal. Hence there is no need to invest and it reaches everyone with a mobile. A novel architecture of hazard assessment and warning introduced where major technologies in ICT interfaced to give a unique WebGIS based dynamic real time geohazard warning communication system. A never before architecture introduced for integrating WebGIS with telecommunication technology. Existing technologies interfaced in a novel architectural design to address a neglected domain in a way never done before – through dynamically updatable WebGIS based warning communication. The work publishes new architecture and novelty in addressing hazard warning techniques in sustainable way and user friendly manner. Coupling of hazard zonation and hazard warning procedures into a single system has been shown. Generalized architecture for deciphering a range of geo-hazards has been developed. Hence the developmental work presented here can be summarized as the development of internet-SMS based automated geo-hazard warning communication system; integrating a warning communication system with a hazard evaluation system; interfacing different open-source technologies towards design and development of a warning system; modularization of different technologies towards development of a warning communication system; automated data creation, transformation and dissemination over different interfaces. The architecture of the developed warning system has been functionally automated as well as generalized enough that can be used for any hazard and setup requirement has been kept to a minimum.
Abstract: Recently, among the MIMO-OFDM detection techniques, a lot of papers suggested V-BLAST scheme which can achieve high data rate. Therefore, the signal detection of MIMO-OFDM system is important issue. In this paper, efficient iterative V-BLAST detection technique is proposed in wireless communication system. The proposed scheme adjusts the number of candidate symbol and iterative scheme based on channel state. According to the simulation result, the proposed scheme has better BER performance than conventional schemes and similar BER performance of the QRD-M with iterative scheme. Moreover complexity of proposed scheme has 50.6% less than complexity of QRD-M detection with iterative scheme. Therefore the proposed detection scheme can be efficiently used in wireless communication.
Abstract: Error correcting codes are used for detection and correction of errors in digital communication system. Error correcting coding is based on appending of redundancy to the information message according to a prescribed algorithm. Reed Solomon codes are part of channel coding and withstand the effect of noise, interference and fading. Galois field arithmetic is used for encoding and decoding reed Solomon codes. Galois field multipliers and linear feedback shift registers are used for encoding the information data block. The design of Reed Solomon encoder is complex because of use of LFSR and Galois field arithmetic. The purpose of this paper is to design and implement Reed Solomon (255, 239) encoder with optimized and lesser number of Galois Field multipliers. Symmetric generator polynomial is used to reduce the number of GF multipliers. To increase the capability toward error correction, convolution interleaving will be used with RS encoder. The Design will be implemented on Xilinx FPGA Spartan II.
Abstract: Study on suppression of interference in time domain equalizers is attempted for high data rate impulse radio (IR) ultra wideband communication system. The narrow band systems may cause interference with UWB devices as it is having very low transmission power and the large bandwidth. SRAKE receiver improves system performance by equalizing signals from different paths. This enables the use of SRAKE receiver techniques in IRUWB systems. But Rake receiver alone fails to suppress narrowband interference (NBI). A hybrid SRake-MMSE time domain equalizer is proposed to overcome this by taking into account both the effect of the number of rake fingers and equalizer taps. It also combats intersymbol interference. A semi analytical approach and Monte-Carlo simulation are used to investigate the BER performance of SRAKEMMSE receiver on IEEE 802.15.3a UWB channel models. Study on non-line of sight indoor channel models (both CM3 and CM4) illustrates that bit error rate performance of SRake-MMSE receiver with NBI performs better than that of Rake receiver without NBI. We show that for a MMSE equalizer operating at high SNR-s the number of equalizer taps plays a more significant role in suppressing interference.
Abstract: In the context of spectrum surveillance, a new method
to recover the code of spread spectrum signal is presented, while the
receiver has no knowledge of the transmitter-s spreading sequence. In
our previous paper, we used Genetic algorithm (GA), to recover
spreading code. Although genetic algorithms (GAs) are well known
for their robustness in solving complex optimization problems, but
nonetheless, by increasing the length of the code, we will often lead
to an unacceptable slow convergence speed. To solve this problem we
introduce Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) into code estimation in
spread spectrum communication system. In searching process for
code estimation, the PSO algorithm has the merits of rapid
convergence to the global optimum, without being trapped in local
suboptimum, and good robustness to noise. In this paper we describe
how to implement PSO as a component of a searching algorithm in
code estimation. Swarm intelligence boasts a number of advantages
due to the use of mobile agents. Some of them are: Scalability, Fault
tolerance, Adaptation, Speed, Modularity, Autonomy, and
Parallelism. These properties make swarm intelligence very attractive
for spread spectrum code estimation. They also make swarm
intelligence suitable for a variety of other kinds of channels. Our
results compare between swarm-based algorithms and Genetic
algorithms, and also show PSO algorithm performance in code
estimation process.
Abstract: A simple but effective digital watermarking scheme
utilizing a context adaptive variable length coding (CAVLC) method
is presented for wireless communication system. In the proposed
approach, the watermark bits are embedded in the final non-zero
quantized coefficient of each DCT block, thereby yielding a potential
reduction in the length of the coded block. As a result, the
watermarking scheme not only provides the means to check the
authenticity and integrity of the video stream, but also improves the
compression ratio and therefore reduces both the transmission time
and the storage space requirements of the coded video sequence. The
results confirm that the proposed scheme enables the detection of
malicious tampering attacks and reduces the size of the coded H.264
file. Therefore, the current study is feasible to apply in the video
applications of wireless communication such as 3G system
Abstract: Multicarrier transmission system such as Orthogonal
Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technique
for high bit rate transmission in wireless communication system.
OFDM is a spectrally efficient modulation technique that can achieve
high speed data transmission over multipath fading channels without
the need for powerful equalization techniques. However the price
paid for this high spectral efficiency and less intensive equalization
is low power efficiency. OFDM signals are very sensitive to nonlinear
effects due to the high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR),
which leads to the power inefficiency in the RF section of the
transmitter. This paper investigates the effect of PAPR reduction on
the performance parameter of multicarrier communication system.
Performance parameters considered are power consumption of Power
Amplifier (PA) and Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), power amplifier
efficiency, SNR of DAC and BER performance of the system.
From our analysis it is found that irrespective of PAPR reduction
technique being employed, the power consumption of PA and DAC
reduces and power amplifier efficiency increases due to reduction in
PAPR. Moreover, it has been shown that for a given BER performance
the requirement of Input-Backoff (IBO) reduces with reduction in
PAPR.
Abstract: The electromagnetic spectrum is a natural resource
and hence well-organized usage of the limited natural resources is the
necessities for better communication. The present static frequency
allocation schemes cannot accommodate demands of the rapidly
increasing number of higher data rate services. Therefore, dynamic
usage of the spectrum must be distinguished from the static usage to
increase the availability of frequency spectrum. Cognitive radio is not
a single piece of apparatus but it is a technology that can incorporate
components spread across a network. It offers great promise for
improving system efficiency, spectrum utilization, more effective
applications, reduction in interference and reduced complexity of
usage for users. Cognitive radio is aware of its environmental,
internal state, and location, and autonomously adjusts its operations
to achieve designed objectives. It first senses its spectral environment
over a wide frequency band, and then adapts the parameters to
maximize spectrum efficiency with high performance. This paper
only focuses on the analysis of Bit-Error-Rate in cognitive radio by
using Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm. It is theoretically as
well as practically analyzed and interpreted in the sense of
advantages and drawbacks and how BER affects the efficiency and
performance of the communication system.
Abstract: Exact expressions for bit-error probability (BEP) for
coherent square detection of uncoded and coded M-ary quadrature
amplitude modulation (MQAM) using an array of antennas with
maximal ratio combining (MRC) in a flat fading channel interference
limited system in a Nakagami-m fading environment is derived. The
analysis assumes an arbitrary number of independent and identically
distributed Nakagami interferers. The results for coded MQAM are
computed numerically for the case of (24,12) extended Golay code
and compared with uncoded MQAM by plotting error probabilities
versus average signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) for various values of
order of diversity N, number of distinct symbols M, in order to
examine the effect of cochannel interferers on the performance of the
digital communication system. The diversity gains and net gains are
also presented in tabular form in order to examine the performance of
digital communication system in the presence of interferers, as the
order of diversity increases. The analytical results presented in this
paper are expected to provide useful information needed for design
and analysis of digital communication systems with space diversity
in wireless fading channels.
Abstract: This paper deals with the modeling and the evaluation of a multiplicative phase noise influence on the bit error ratio in a general space communication system. Our research is focused on systems with multi-state phase shift keying modulation techniques and it turns out, that the phase noise significantly affects the bit error rate, especially for higher signal to noise ratios. These results come from a system model created in Matlab environment and are shown in a form of constellation diagrams and bit error rate dependencies. The change of a user data bit rate is also considered and included into simulation results. Obtained outcomes confirm theoretical presumptions.
Abstract: In this paper, a low noise microwave bandpass filter
(BPF) is presented. This filter is fabricated by modifying the
conventional cross-coupled structure. The spurious response is
improved by using the end open coupled lines, and the influence of the
noise is minimized. Impedance matrix of the open end coupled circuit
clarifies the characteristic of the suppression of the spurious response.
The rejection of spurious suppression region of the proposed filter is
greater than 20 dB from 3-13 GHz. The measured results of the
fabricated filter confirm the concepts of the proposed design and
exhibits high performance.
