Abstract: The incubation period is defined as the time from infection with a microorganism to development of symptoms. In this research, two disease models: one with incubation period and another without incubation period were studied. The study involves the use of a mathematical model with a single incubation period. The test for the existence and stability of the disease free and the endemic equilibrium states for both models were carried out. The fourth order Runge-Kutta method was used to solve both models numerically. Finally, a computer program in MATLAB was developed to run the numerical experiments. From the results, we are able to show that the endemic equilibrium state of the model with incubation period is locally asymptotically stable whereas the endemic equilibrium state of the model without incubation period is unstable under certain conditions on the given model parameters. It was also established that the disease free equilibrium states of the model with and without incubation period are locally asymptotically stable. Furthermore, results from numerical experiments using empirical data obtained from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) showed that the overall population of the infected people for the model with incubation period is higher than that without incubation period. We also established from the results obtained that as the transmission rate from susceptible to infected population increases, the peak values of the infected population for the model with incubation period decrease and are always less than those for the model without incubation period.
Abstract: The movement of points feet of the anthropomorphous robot in space occurs along some stable trajectory of a known form. A large number of modifications to the methods of control of biped robots indicate the fundamental complexity of the problem of stability of the program trajectory and, consequently, the stability of the control for the deviation for this trajectory. Existing gait generators use piecewise interpolation of program trajectories. This leads to jumps in the acceleration at the boundaries of sites. Another interpolation can be realized using differential equations with fractional derivatives. In work, the approach to synthesis of generators of program trajectories is considered. The resulting system of nonlinear differential equations describes a smooth trajectory of movement having rectilinear sites. The method is based on the theory of an asymptotic stability of invariant sets. The stability of such systems in the area of localization of oscillatory processes is investigated. The boundary of the area is a bounded closed surface. In the corresponding subspaces of the oscillatory circuits, the resulting stable limit cycles are curves having rectilinear sites. The solution of the problem is carried out by means of synthesis of a set of the continuous smooth controls with feedback. The necessary geometry of closed trajectories of movement is obtained due to the introduction of high-order nonlinearities in the control of stabilization systems. The offered method was used for the generation of trajectories of movement of point’s feet of the anthropomorphous robot. The synthesis of the robot's program movement was carried out by means of the inverse method.
Abstract: This paper presents a design of dynamic feedback
control based on observer for a class of large scale Lipschitz nonlinear
systems. The use of Differential Mean Value Theorem (DMVT) is to
introduce a general condition on the nonlinear functions. To ensure
asymptotic stability, sufficient conditions are expressed in terms of
linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). High performances are shown
through real time implementation with ARDUINO Duemilanove
board to the one-link flexible joint robot.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the stability problem
with two additive time-varying delay components. By choosing one
augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, using some new zero
equalities, and combining linear matrix inequalities (LMI)
techniques, two new sufficient criteria ensuring the global stability
asymptotic stability of DNNs is obtained. These stability criteria are
present in terms of linear matrix inequalities and can be easily
checked. Finally, some examples are showed to demonstrate the
effectiveness and less conservatism of the proposed method.
Abstract: This paper deals with the problem of delay-dependent
stability for neural networks with distributed delays. Some new
sufficient condition are derived by constructing a novel
Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach. The criteria are
formulated in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities, this is
convenient for numerically checking the system stability using the
powerful MATLAB LMI Toolbox. Moreover, in order to show the
stability condition in this paper gives much less conservative results
than those in the literature, numerical examples are considered.
Abstract: A vehicle driving with an Adaptive Cruise Control
System (ACC) is usually controlled decentrally, based on the
information of radar systems and in some publications based on
C2X-Communication (CACC) to guarantee stable platoons. In this
paper we present a Model Predictive Control (MPC) design of a
centralized, server-based ACC-System, whereby the vehicular platoon
is modeled and controlled as a whole. It is then proven that the
proposed MPC design guarantees asymptotic stability and hence
string stability of the platoon. The Networked MPC design is
chosen to be able to integrate system constraints optimally as well
as to reduce the effects of communication delay and packet loss.
The performance of the proposed controller is then simulated and
analyzed in an LTE communication scenario using the LTE/EPC
Network Simulator LENA, which is based on the ns-3 network
simulator.
Abstract: Utilizing the Lyapunov functional method and combining linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques and integral inequality approach (IIA) to analyze the global asymptotic stability for delayed neural networks (DNNs),a new sufficient criterion ensuring the global stability of DNNs is obtained. The criteria are formulated in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities, which can be checked efficiently by use of some standard numercial packages. In order to show the stability condition in this paper gives much less conservative results than those in the literature, numerical examples are considered.
Abstract: In this paper, a stochastic predator-prey system with Holling II functional response is studied. First, we show that there is a unique positive solution to the system for any given positive initial value. Then, stochastically bounded of the positive solution to the stochastic system is derived. Moreover, sufficient conditions for global asymptotic stability are also established. In the end, some simulation figures are carried out to support the analytical findings.
Abstract: This paper proposes a solution to the motion planning
and control problem of a point-mass robot which is required to move
safely to a designated target in a priori known workspace cluttered
with fixed elliptical obstacles of arbitrary position and sizes. A
tailored and unique algorithm for target convergence and obstacle
avoidance is proposed that will work for any number of fixed
obstacles. The control laws proposed in this paper also ensures that
the equilibrium point of the given system is asymptotically stable.
Computer simulations with the proposed technique and applications
to a planar (RP) manipulator will be presented.
Abstract: This paper investigates the problem of absolute stability and robust stability of a class of Lur-e systems with neutral type and time-varying delays. By using Lyapunov direct method and linear matrix inequality technique, new delay-dependent stability criteria are obtained and formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which are easy to check the stability of the considered systems. To obtain less conservative stability conditions, an operator is defined to construct the Lyapunov functional. Also, the free weighting matrices approach combining a matrix inequality technique is used to reduce the entailed conservativeness. Numerical examples are given to indicate significant improvements over some existing results.
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the problem of the existence, uniqueness and global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point for a class of neural networks, the neutral system has mixed time delays and parameter uncertainties. Under the assumption that the activation functions are globally Lipschitz continuous, we drive a new criterion for the robust stability of a class of neural networks with time delays by utilizing the Lyapunov stability theorems and the Homomorphic mapping theorem. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and the advantage of the proposed main results.
Abstract: Variable Structure Control (VSC) is one of the most useful tools handling the practical system with uncertainties and disturbances. Up to now, unfortunately, not enough studies on the input-saturated system with linear-growth-bound disturbances via VSC have been presented. Therefore, this paper proposes an asymp¬totic stability condition for the system via VSC. The designed VSC controller consists of two control parts. The linear control part plays a role in stabilizing the system, and simultaneously, the nonlinear control part in rejecting the linear-growth-bound disturbances perfectly. All conditions derived in this paper are expressed with Linear Matrices Inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily solved with an LMI toolbox in MATLAB.

By using Lyapunov method and linear matrix inequality technology, new delay-dependent stability criteria are obtained and formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easy to check the robust stability of the considered systems. Numerical examples are given to indicate significant improvements over some existing results.
Abstract: Using the concept of measure of noncompactness, we present some results concerning the existence, uniform local attractivity and global attractivity of solutions for a functional integral equation. Our results improve and extend some previous known results and based on weaker conditions. Some examples which show that our results are applicable when the previous results are inapplicable are also included.
Abstract: In this paper, we aim to investigate a new stability analysis for discrete-time switched linear systems based on the comparison, the overvaluing principle, the application of Borne-Gentina criterion and the Kotelyanski conditions. This stability conditions issued from vector norms correspond to a vector Lyapunov function. In fact, the switched system to be controlled will be represented in the Companion form. A comparison system relative to a regular vector norm is used in order to get the simple arrow form of the state matrix that yields to a suitable use of Borne-Gentina criterion for the establishment of sufficient conditions for global asymptotic stability. This proposed approach could be a constructive solution to the state and static output feedback stabilization problems.
Abstract: This paper presents a new sufficient condition for the
existence, uniqueness and global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point for Cohen-Grossberg neural networks with multiple time delays. The results establish a relationship between the network parameters
of the neural system independently of the delay parameters. The results are also compared with the previously reported results in
the literature.
Abstract: In this paper, a few chattering-free Sliding Mode Controllers (SMC) are proposed to stabilize an Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) system with gyroscopic effect that is proportional to the rotor speed. The improved switching terms of the controller inherited from the saturation-type function and boundary layer control technique is shown to be able to achieve bounded and asymptotic stability, respectively, while the chattering effect in the input is attenuated. This is proven to be advantageous for AMB system since minimization of chattering results in optimized control effort. The performance of each controller is demonstrated via result of simulation in which the measurement of the total consumed energy and maximum control magnitude of each controller illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.
Abstract: In this paper; we are interested in dynamic modelling of quadrotor while taking into account the high-order nonholonomic constraints as well as the various physical phenomena, which can influence the dynamics of a flying structure. These permit us to introduce a new state-space representation and new control scheme. We present after the development and the synthesis of a stabilizing control laws design based on sliding mode in order to perform best tracking results. It ensures locally asymptotic stability and desired tracking trajectories. Nonlinear observer is then synthesized in order to estimate the unmeasured states and the effects of the external disturbances such as wind and noise. Finally simulation results are also provided in order to illustrate the performances of the proposed controllers.
Abstract: A nonlinear optimal controller with a fuzzy gain
scheduler has been designed and applied to a Line-Of-Sight (LOS)
stabilization system. Use of Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR)
theory is an optimal and simple manner of solving many control
engineering problems. However, this method cannot be utilized
directly for multigimbal LOS systems since they are nonlinear in
nature. To adapt LQ controllers to nonlinear systems at least a
linearization of the model plant is required. When the linearized
model is only valid within the vicinity of an operating point a gain
scheduler is required. Therefore, a Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Inference
System gain scheduler has been implemented, which keeps the
asymptotic stability performance provided by the optimal feedback
gain approach. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed
controller is capable of overcoming disturbances and maintaining a
satisfactory tracking performance.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a solution to the motion
control problem of a 2-link revolute manipulator arm. We require the
end-effector of the arm to move safely to its designated target in a
priori known workspace cluttered with fixed circular obstacles of
arbitrary position and sizes. Firstly a unique velocity algorithm is
used to move the end-effector to its target. Secondly, for obstacle
avoidance a turning angle is designed, which when incorporated into
the control laws ensures that the entire robot arm avoids any number
of fixed obstacles along its path enroute the target. The control laws
proposed in this paper also ensure that the equilibrium point of the
system is asymptotically stable. Computer simulations of the
proposed technique are presented.
