Abstract: The alternating current is the main power in all industries and other aspects especially for the short and mid distances, but as far as long a distance which exceeds 500 KMs, using the alternating current technically will face many difficulties and more costs because it's difficult to control the current and also other restrictions. Therefore, recently those reasons led to building transmission lines HVDC to transmit power for long distances. This document presents technical comparison and assessments for power transmission system among distances either ways and studying the stability of the system regarding the proportion of losses in the actual power sent and received between both sides in different systems and also categorizing filters used in the HVDC system and its impact and effect on reducing Harmonic in the power transmission. MATLAB /Simulink simulation software is used to simulate both HVAC & HVDC power transmission system topologies.
Abstract: This paper describes the design and implementation of
a hardware setup for online monitoring of 24 refrigerators inside
blood bank center using the microcontroller and CAN bus for
communications between each node. Due to the security of locations
in the blood bank hall and difficulty of monitoring of each
refrigerator separately, this work proposes a solution to monitor all
the blood bank refrigerators in one location. CAN-bus system is used
because it has many applications and advantages, especially for this
system due to easy in use, low cost, providing a reduction in wiring,
fast to repair and easily expanding the project without a problem.
Abstract: Increasingly complex modern power systems require
stability, especially for transient and small disturbances. Transient
stability plays a major role in stability during fault and large
disturbance. This paper compares a power system stabilizer (PSS)
and static Var compensator (SVC) to improve damping oscillation
and enhance transient stability. The effectiveness of a PSS connected
to the exciter and/or governor in damping electromechanical
oscillations of isolated synchronous generator was tested. The SVC
device is a member of the shunt FACTS (flexible alternating current
transmission system) family, utilized in power transmission systems.
The designed model was tested with a multi-machine system
consisting of four machines six bus, using MATLAB/SIMULINK
software. The results obtained indicate that SVC solutions are better
than PSS.
Abstract: Autonomous robotic systems need an equipment like a human eye for their movement. In this study a 3D laser scanner has been designed and implemented for those autonomous robotic systems. In general 3D laser scanners are using 2 dimension laser range finders that are moving on one-axis (1D) to generate the model. In this study, the model has been obtained by a one-dimensional laser range finder that is moving in two –axis (2D) and because of this the laser scanner has been produced cheaper.
Abstract: Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) has many
applications in traffic systems (highway electronic toll collection, red
light violation enforcement, border and customs checkpoints, etc.).
License Plate Recognition is an effective form of AVI systems. In
this study, a smart and simple algorithm is presented for vehicle-s
license plate recognition system. The proposed algorithm consists of
three major parts: Extraction of plate region, segmentation of
characters and recognition of plate characters. For extracting the
plate region, edge detection algorithms and smearing algorithms are
used. In segmentation part, smearing algorithms, filtering and some
morphological algorithms are used. And finally statistical based
template matching is used for recognition of plate characters. The
performance of the proposed algorithm has been tested on real
images. Based on the experimental results, we noted that our
algorithm shows superior performance in car license plate
recognition.
